Magnet Removal Technique?

I've got a copper Nemesis which has become problematic. I have to take it apart and clean it once in a while in order to keep it firing. But i can't seem to remove the damn FT magnets (2) i installed in the bottom cap. I know they're fairly fragile so i'm afraid to use too much force to try prying them out. I don't have any more powerful magnets around. Any suggestions?

There is nothing in there that they should be attracted to. I assume the top one flipped when you disassembled the cap and is now stuck to the bottom one but neither should be magnetically attracted to anything but themselves. I would try soaking in hot soapy water then just tapping the switch upside down on a countertop to jar them loose. Or if the fit of the magnets is tight on the center post lubing with some penetrating oil and doing the same. Sounds like something made it's way into the switch and dried - sticking the bottom magnet to the switch.

I tried dissolving the adhesive with acetone but no luck. After a lot of trying, I ended up ordering upgraded switch parts from here:

http://www.fatdaddyvapes.com/shop.html

The only other option I felt like I had was to drill the old ones out.

What adhesive? The magnets just drop in and should come out freely when the switch is disassembled. I've had one stuck to the cap from a coffee spill that must have splashed in but nothing a little hot water couldn't handle.

Oops. I was thinking stingray, not nemesis. Either way, fatdaddyvapes has an ultimate switch upgrade for both. I couldn't be happier with them!

You know, i hadn't thought about the fact that copper is incredibly weakly magnetic. Whenever i'm messing around with the magnets in there they always seemed to be attracted to the copper but obviously they were just repelled by the magnets in the bottom of the switch cap. (Nice illusion haha!) So i will try using soapy water next time i have it apart. Thanks. And i'm definitely lusting after those FDV magnets. Thanks @Sully and @Lefty.

If you like the FatDaddyVapes magnets you can get 10 (minimum order) N50 grade (same grade as FDV) for less than he's charging for 2.

If you drop your mod or otherwise break one you have plenty to spare.
I ended up with 3 Nemmy's, all are fitted with these and I still have spares.

So I too have a "copper" Nemesis and my magnets stick just like yours are doing jeremy.
See, the thing is, my copper Nemesis is actually only copper plating on top of what appears to be brass.
It may be that yours is the same way.
I tried to get my magnets out and like you I was afraid of them braking. Sorry I don't have a suggestion for removing them. I just wanted to say why I thought they may be staying.
Good luck.

Super Magnet Man!? I like it. Super hero of vaping devices. :)

I recommend fat daddy because he went out of his way for me. His customer service is top notch. He went totally above and beyond when one of the parts didn't work perfectly on a clone I had. He actually looked at my pics and created new parts that worked perfectly. No expense to me. Top notch.

All my devices with his upgraded switch parts fire better than stock (including authentics). Magnets could hold up a full cup of coffee. My friends say it takes muscles to push the button. LOL

I have nothing against FDV and would do business with him if I needed something he had. He was a bit of a douche in the FT forums making posts promoting his stuff and denigrating FT's but that wouldn't stop me doing business with him. When I can get the same power magnets that fit nicely at a 5 to 1 number for slightly less then that's where I went. If I felt I needed the full upgrade kit I'd probably buy it but for just the magnets ...

I hear you. I really needed the whole rebuild + magnets on one of my mods. I upgraded the rest of my mods after experiencing the difference tho. :) Well worth it IMO. But I hear your point. And respect it.

Got to be something under there besides brass. Even cheap china brass if you try to stick a magnet to it it will just fall off. I have an Hcigar brass Nemmie where the main tubes are brass sleeved over brass plated steel I would guess for added strength. The kick tube is not sleeved. Magnets will stick to the main tubes (no battery inserted) but not to the kick tube. Even that one though the magnets come right out of the switch when disassembled.

I finally had to smash the crap out of my two FT magnets which were lodged/stuck in there. I just kept at it with a tiny screwdriver, trying to preferably pry them up but accepting that they'd probably just shatter - which they did of course. It looked dark and maybe a little gummy under there, so maybe i somehow managed to get some juice in there at some point. Then i cleaned the surface with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip, then vinegar and a Q-tip, and installed another couple FT magnets, which seemed a tiny bit tight.

And i've ordered some of those N50 17mm magnets from SMM (thanks again @Lefty).

Glad you got it. The new one's will be a slightly looser fit around the center in comparison to the FT magnets so a little easier to put in and take out should you need to. You will also find they are stronger magnetically. I can stand them up without fear of firing with any atty I own. Plus if you do like I did and miss your inside jacket pocket and drop the thing from chest height right on to the switch you'll have spares. :)
