RX200 and Uwell Crown

I recently upgraded from the iStick50w and Triton 2 to a Uwell Crown on a RX200. I currently am using the 0.5SS coils in TCSS mode at 45w and 470 degrees but am not getting that high quality of vape. The TC temp protection kicks in so quick that I don't get much of a pull and I hate to hold it down and keep it pulsing. I can change it back to wattage mode and can't vape above 30w without getting a burnt taste. The tank and coil are only 3 days old and I properly prime the coil and let it sit for at least 15 minutes before first pull. I bought this set up for bigger clouds and for the TC factor but I am not seeing an advantage yet. I like a cool vape and usually vaped around 30-35 watts on the iStick and Triton and had a much better vaping experience on the Clapton coils. I havn't tried the included nickel coil in the Crown but I bought two packs of 0.5SS coils when I bought the Crown because that is what me and the wife have always used. I am very new to the TC game especially with the Crown and RX200 and any help will be appreciated!

Crown SS coils have Nickle legs and are not indented for TC

0.25Ω and 0.50Ω coils are made with stainless steel wire (for regular wattage vaping mode)

How to break in the coils on your Uwell Crown:

Thanks, I've been fumbling with the Crown for many days now until yesterday that I received my KBOX 200 and now it works like a champ.
I wish I knew this before. I guess I'll switch back to VW mode now.

Thanks for the information! I have watched that video a lot before and always start at 12w and go up in 2 w increments with a few pulls from there to get there I like it. I havn't even thought of going to 40w and beyond yet. I don't like that warm of a vape but this seems to work really good to break in the coils. I'll pick up a few packs of the Ni coils so I can use the TC with those. I think I will just have to keep playing around with the mod and tank and see what I can do to make it better. Loving all the good info on the forum so far!

Played around with the wattages on my break walking around the building. I think my major problem is I like to take long 5 second plus pulls and it's impossible to do that at very high wattages. It is hitting very good at 32w for the pulls that I like. Thanks again for the info!

Did you do the 3.0 update because I run Crown SS coils in TC mode all the time and it vapes beautifully. Plus after the update you get 3 presets that you can adjust the tcr on.

At what value, may I ask, do you set your TCR on 0.25 SS coil?

Ditto!
I run my Crowns in TC SS on my Reuleaux (DNA200 & RX200), and my VTC Mini. Works like a charm.

Yes, I updated to 3.0 when I got it as that is why I was using the TC SS mode. What wattage and temp do you suggest for the most vapor while still being a cool vape? I just stopped smoking 6 months ago so I still need that lung fill.

I run mine at 60-75w and 425-486f depending on the juice.

It really depends on the juice's sweet spot. However, the Crown and TFV4 perform better with higher Wattage, than other tanks, with coils of the same resistance.
In general, look at the Watt setting as how quick the coil heats up to the set temperature. Play around with the settings, until you find, what suits you and your e-juice best.

Anything below 500 degrees only pulls for less than a second before temp protect comes on and I don't get much of a hit with it. I have it at 65w and 520 degrees and it seems to be doing a lot better. I just want to get the most out of the coils without burning them up. I know this tank is a juice hog, a ton more than any other tank I've had so far.

Don't worry too much about the coils. I'm having the stock 0.25/0.5 Ohm coils in my Crowns. Even after at least 2 Months they are still fine. However, I don't have liquids that are gunking up the coils.

Wow, 2 months per coil would be amazing! I am running mostly 80 or 70vg juice. I try to keep all the juice clear or a light color. I used to vape Heisenburg blue and it killed the coils. I know that the higher VG will degrade the coils faster but anything above 40pg kills my throat.

My Crown with 0.25 and 0.5ohm coils works flawlessly in TC on my RX200, VTC Mini, and my X-Cube2. I have mine set to 550f @ 40W for either coil, and it works phenomenally. Not a warm vape, but not cool either, kind of a happy medium for me, and flavor is amazing. I got about a month or so from the 0.5, and so far am on week 4 with the 0.25, still going strong!

Most of my e-juice (DIY) is 80-90 VG

Wow, that was a good vape! Got a completely differnet flavor profile from the juice as well. Thanks for all the help!

That's my goal. Started at 18mg, down to 6mg nic currently. Switching to 3mg after the Super Bowl and hopefully 0mg 100VG by the end of April.

No Problemo, we're always glad to help. I'm glad to hear you like the setting, it took me a little while of trial and error before I was able to fine tune and hone in the settings, but I'm glad I stuck it out. Enjoy your vape!

Good goal!
I started with 24mg three yrs ago and down to 2.5mg now, especially with the subtanks and the great nicotine delivery subohming... I did try 0mg and found myself craving a nicotine hit still..but that's a great goal you have there, and the best of luck achieving it!

I got a question? I locked in the resistance of my uwell crown stainless steel coil in temp mode both on my evic VTC mini and cuboid . The reading of resistance on both displays fluctuates . I thought once locked the display would read the same resistance you lock it into and that would work the device so that it can tell what temperature the coil is at ? To be more straight forward, is the displayed resistance of the coil supposed to fluctuate even after locking in the resistance in tc mode ?

Depends, does it fluctuate when watching the screen while firing or when it is just sitting there? On the Cuboid with firmware V3.10 if you lock the resistance and the lock symbol is shown, it never changes when just sitting there that's for sure.

After locking then i fire while firing the resistance fluctuates on both cuboid and vtc mini

Yes it is just showing you the live resistance of the coil just for your information but it is definitely not changing, i mean the "base" resistance stays thd same.

I'm using the Stock SS Mode on all of them. The VTC Mini and the RX200 both run in SS316 mode (not quite sure what their TCR values actually are), and the X-Cube2 has a default of 0.00092 or something. Since all the SS I've used is 316L, I've just been using the SS316 Modes. When I did try adjusting the TCRs myself, all the changes seemed to worsen the vape experience, since it was already set to the correct settings. Once I get some SS304, I'll start monkeying around with the TCRs

I have a question I have a crown running on my rx200 I was wondering what settings I should be using , what temperature and what wattage should I be using because at the moment I am struggling to find the best vaping setting.

I run my crown coils in power mode only - even on the RX200 I don't find they perform as well in TC mode (even using the TCR settings). I like the 0.25 at around 65 watts and the 0.5 at around 50 watts. I don't care for the 1.2 ohm or the Ni200 coils though!

For the 0.25 I go about 80 w and 450. For 0.5 I go about 60 w and 450.

My first TC experience was also less than stellar. I had a Kbox 60w platinum running the Crown with .15 ni200 coils. Although we have very different issues, I can assure you that the Crown is a fantastic tank. Try Nickel coils, I like the hit at 75w and 195C on my new IStick 100w TC.

Just keep experimenting, and asking questions. You'll find what works for you soon.

I'm running my crowns (0.5 Ohm replacement coil heads) in TC 316L at 57.5W and 480F. However, the setting also depends on your juice. Just look at the wattage, at how quick the coil(s) heat up, in order to reach set temperature.
