Is there any difference in how junior senior type vapers vape??
I am 58, and I hit on a mech in the morning. Then the rest of the day with my DNA40 mod. I left my Provari mini and Nautilus-type tank after I discovered the world of sub ohm.

I'm older than you (!!) and started off with a Halo Triton, graduated to a Provari and cartotanks, then Reos, and now onto various regulated mods with my Crown and the 0.25 ohm coils or Griffin. I can't go back, even though I've tried (simply because I still have a bunch of old stuff taking up space!):p

I started to vape to quit smoking after 32 years of a pack a day. I see a lot of young people vaping because it seems cool to them. Not sure if that's a good thing. The girl who does my builds at the vape store never smoked a cig in her life and I watch her chain vape on a DNA200 mod. I feel that the vape culture is more focused on getting young people to start vaping than getting older people to stop smoking. Hope that's not the case.

About to hit the double nickle realm myself.
HA!
Im the same way man....started on the a bunch of Kanger & Nautilus tanks, firing them with ego batts....and collecting along the way.
Within the past year now, and with sub-ohming pushing me, I've graduated up to collecting Mechs and these 50 and 100 watt bastards with Herc's, Artic's & RBA's topping them all.!!!
What in the hell am I suppose to do with all of this stuff that I collected and just cannot bring myself to use now because they don't have enough power behind them?
I suppose I could start a twice a year Vape Yard Sale kinda thingy ?

I'm also about to be 55 (in May). I don't think differences in vape style have a lot to do with age; I think it has more to do with what our lungs can handle and still be able to function: I have asthma, so I will always be a "tootle puffer" -- coils built to around 2Ω, tight-draw RDA (Achilles), 10w or less, MtL always, because that's how I smoked.

To me, just having more vapor wasn't a factor in quitting smoking -- I quit smoking while still using an eRoll (cigalike). Dunno if I could have maintained it, just using that, because I got my first "real" mod on my actual first day of smoke-free (an iTaste vv3 and a Kanger T3S), and the difference was just amazing to me; being able to have the same quality of hit from first to last, simply awesome, and the TH was so much better. But the one time I tried a direct lung-hit, it nearly put me on the floor -- thx to the asthma. I also have to use very high PG (85%-ish); VG seems to glue my airways closed.

You're all youngsters!! I'm pushing 63, mostly using a Kanger SubTank Plus on either a Sigelei 150W or my Kanger KBox 120W. If I'm at home I'm dripping on my Velocity on an iStick 100 (and yes, I do all my own builds). SO - nothing fancy for this old fart, just what I consider some ordinary but solid gear. Of course, I went through a bunch of crappy equipment to get to what I'm using now.

Recently, I watched some cool videos of big clouds. I thought I'd like to blow a giant cloud once in awhile, too. But to blow big clouds, I need to go into at least dual coils, and pump up the watts. What am I thinking, anyway? Wasn't my foray into vaping meant to be the healthier alternative to smoking?
I have to remind myself that I'm not a teenager!

You could always try max-VG, if your lungs can tolerate it. Mine won't, but it does provide thick vapor.

55 and climbing...Started with the ego types, went to Buzz and cartos, then carto tanks. Now I seem to have jumped off the deep end. Sub-ohm drippers and rtas. I build everything, I mix everything. I like the extra flavor from volume vaping. I keep the ohms and watts to a battery friendly level. I love to tinker, keeps my mind busy... Where's my cardigan sweater?

It is said that "Your over the Hill" when You turn 50,well I'm going to be 59 in May....I respond to the Young Neck beards at the local Juice Joint, that I'm two to three times older than them and have a great job that lets Me buy Mods like every week....
I just love to see them do the Elbow jabs at each other at the "Old Man" wanting to cloud chase....As I rev up the Buddah Zephers .23 ohm,22 ga.K1,1/8" I.D 9 wrap dual coils on top of My Panzer 26650 mod running an A123 26650 LiFePO4 with 50amp continuous/120amp 10 second Pulse....O by the way it will be a year in April that I have been smoke free!....And I started with a 450mAh Ego/CE4 Clearomizers and ZIG-ZAG Menthol 18.mg juice...I have been cutting it down to about 4.mg with 100%V.G. And I tell the Kids at the B/M,"When Yer over the Hill, all Ya gotta do is COAST!....Z

Celebrated the 5th anniversary of my 55th birthday this year (see what I did there?)

Been vaping for the past 36 months or so after finally kicking a 40+ year burning tobacco habit.

Sitting here with a Stingray X/ Mutation v3 .2 ohm dual parallel 26 ga Ni80 wicked with rayon and some homebrew French Vanilla 5mg 70/30 and a mug of Colombian coffee.

These days it's Mechs and RDAs all the way!

Just about 60 and been vaping for years now, Have tried many combinations and loved most. I prefer the I stick 60 tc with melo 2 in ti mode with rebuildable coil using 100% pure cotton rounds made by Assured because they are just better than all other cottons. Love vaping can stop anytime but just like it so much I continue. I support vaping and have got 12 people off the stinky's hopefully forever. I noticed huge difference since I stopped the cig habit, I feel better, breath better just have a lot more thrust power. ;)

Howdy Andria!

Hope all is well in your world :)

Positively spiffy -- I'm finally free of WTA! YESSSSSSSSSSS! Which has made me a little crotchety in the last couple days, but no cravings, so I think I'm finally done with that stuff. :) :) :)

55 and been vaping since I turned 50. Started off with a couple DSE batteries and carto's/atomizers and now am primarily into rebuildable tanks and RDA's, with a rather healthy collection of Genesis Attys. Smoked for 36 years, quit a dozen times and tried every patch, pill, gum, and natural remedy there is. Started off at 36mg/ml and am now down to 3mg/ml in a dripper and 6mg/ml in a tank.

My wife switched to vaping a month after I did and kicked a 25 year habit. She also did the patches, pills, et cetera and went back to smoking until she started to vape, then it took only a month for her to switch over completely.

I have done a bit of research into the flavoring compounds they put in cigs to make them consistent from batch to batch, molecules created in a laboratory which are essentially derivative alkaloids are the primary reason people get hooked and have such a terrible time quitting. It's not the nicotine per se, but the crap they add to the cigs to make them taste the same, that is the real reason people get hooked on cigs.

69 this year...doh! Quit the smokes in '83 and on a whim tried vaping four years ago...hooked! I try to keep things simple...mix my own juice, hit off a istick 100 and several RTA's...recently bought a Reaper tank..wow.

I'm 53 been vaping 5 years this July. Like most that have been vaping that long I started with cig-a -likes and ego's with carto's but now it's all sub ohm whether it's my RDA's or Tanks and all high VG liquids, not so much for clouds but mainly flavor and feel.

Current equipment:
Wismec RX 200
Kanger sub tank nano
Derringer RDA

I'm 62 and started vaping as a stress/anxiety reliever after the death of my son. I started with cheap pens and then to a Vamo 5 and other VV/VW batteries with Nautilus tanks. I enjoy sub-ohm vaping and DIY Juice and coils. My current mods are Reuleaux DNA 200, eCigar VT200 x 2, eCigar VT133, and a Joytech VTC Mini. I have several tanks but the ones I use most are the Griffin and Billow V2 Nanos. I have several RDA's that I play around with but prefer RTA's. I vape low nic,1%, high VG 80-90% juice that I make myself. I usually run dual Clapton's in my RTA's anywhere from .2 to .5 ohms.

I'm 62 and been at it for about 4 yrs now. When I find a new hobby I tend to jump into it. I've always been mechanically inclined so it didn't take me long to start building and I progressed pretty quickly to sub ohm and playing with more exotic coils. Eventually I found that I really didn't care about blowing clouds or exotic builds and have returned to straight forward coils in the 1-1.5 ohm range and a rather loose MTL draw. With TC I find myself dialing it back until it's about equivalent. For me that's the most satisfying vape. I got into this in the first place to give my lungs a break and for me that turns out to be the best way to do it.

I will be 72 in April and I am a confirmed tootle puffer, 10 watts kayfuns and prometeys. Have recently started playing with a modified magma and a couple of mechs. With 6 ml nic 75% VG I may start to up the ante.

It is great to find you again, I missed your posts both the informative and also the humorous ones. I will always tootle, but I now have a couple of mechs and I am experimenting with some Max VG juice at 6ml nic.

I was just thinking that this may be the new Back Porch. :)

I took my porch rocker with me. A rucksack or a rocker, both fit on my back.

I have always equated smoking and vaping to the movie Wizard of Oz. Smoking was black and white, regular or menthol. Vaping is full of color and filled with directions to go. I am not surprised to see older people branching out or pushing boundaries. It is a great hobby.

I am pretty relaxed about it all. I have Vapersharks, Reos, and Provape. I live in the 15-22ish watt area for my RTA/RDAs. Just a good flavor is my focus.

Cigs were so boring when I realized what vaping could be.

Thx, it's nice to know that people noticed my absence when retarded1 became too obnoxious and I exiled myself. I've got a couple mechs, for vapocalypse prep, but I can't say I really love them. Just too fiddly, and then when they're not hitting right, no screen to tell me why. :D

55 here (just made it). Quit a 30-year, 1.5 pack/day habit the same day I bought my first ego/ce4. Now I pretty much stick with my subtank or isub tank running at 25-30 watts and my egrips (I have four of them). Nothing especially fancy equipment-wise but I'm satisfied with it.

Celebrating 60 in June, been vaping for 4+ years. Usually subohm tanks like griffin, bellus, or avocado, but still use my kayfuns when I dont want to cloud up the room :)

Yep, hard to resist the mechs. I tell people to stick with what they have if it works. Mainly because to upgrade is to make obsolete all that you own!!

I apologize for not visiting VU more often. When I had home internet I visited often. I had a smartphone for a couple weeks then returned it, so now it's all library computer. This is my self-imposed punishment for being too "clicky happy" on eBay and other shopping sites.
Final comment until next time:
I'm liking my DNA 40 V4S with my Hobo V3.1. I have other setups also, but this is my carry along vape. I would like to go back to my Provari and my Smok GDC with 1.5 ohm coils, but perhaps that won't happen. Mouth to Lung feels like a better idea. Direct Lung hits seem a bit too much.
I printed out all the comments from this thread and will read them more thoroughly later.

True story I just had to share. I live in Vegas where vaping is extremely popular. I was so proud to see a wonderful gent (late 60's maybe) in the car next to me vaping away on a boxmod. I told the kids look, he probably quit a long nasty habit with that. I am only in my 30's but I smoked for 16 years. So all the young'ns and old timers VAPE PROUD when your out and about.
