The 4 kg battery deal with case from fasttech

a friend of mine is on the way to having a hart attack from trying to order the four lg battery deal. After he struggled for an hour with the site( his own fault I'm guessing ) he was finally told that the won't ship batteries to the U.S. So why post the deal if we can't have the batteries shipped to the U.S. Anyway any help would be great but I'm gonna try myself.

Unfortunately, it does look they've removed all the US shipping options. I've sent @VaporJoe a message letting him know.

The thread title made me think someone was ordering a 4 kilogram box of batteries from China.

Instead I'm a little disappointed, and a little relieved.

I was gonna have a little fun with that, but gave a pass since he was new, and the USPS rules change is kinda a serious thing going forward. Boat rides take a lot longer.

I thought they did still ship them to us....its was just a very slow process since they go by boat.
You mean that they don't ship batteries to the States anymore....period?

USPS put a limit to 2 via air travel. What the supplying company chose to do is another issue.

Supplying Company....meaning FT ?
Why would they stop sending completely?
I just looked at FT's shipping methods and prohibitions, and cylindrical batteries are prohibited. Looks like they chose the no fuss stance.

USPS actually does not allow any loose batteries at all via international air. It's been quite annoying because it has given Fasttech an advantage in shipping since they could use the chinese version of USPS which does allow it, whereas US sellers are stuck with much more expensive methods.

In addition, the international regulations just changed, literally starting next week (not USPS regulations, but literally the international standard for all passenger planes carrying cargo around the world), and shipping batteries internationally is now very expensive and difficult, requiring certifications and such. I can see how fasttech would change their policy.

I had seen that the IATA was clamping down further..

Great. Here come the $20 18650's.

Domestically our prices won't change by any significant amount. Probably most others will be the same. The only thing you might see is fewer domestic shipments being able to go by air, most will go by ground. For someone buying a couple batteries nothing probably will change since they're likely just paying for USPS first class anyway.

Hey Jon,

Do these new USPS regs affect say an order of 10 cells shipped from you to a US customer? (Other than having to go by ground)

BTW..anyone who hasn't already done so should seriously consider ordering from Jon when you need batteries as the service, speed and pricing I've received for as few as even two batteries at a time has been outstanding!

Unfortunately yes. 8 batteries or less with USPS is unaffected (domestically), but for more we are going to change some. It's one of those things where USPS is really bad at checking this stuff so many vendors will continue to just ship illegally and will almost certainly not be caught but we try to follow all the rules especially when it's a safety issue like this so we're going to be changing our shipping rules accordingly. Still finalizing exactly what we will do but I think we will go to free shipping above a certain order amount around $35-50. Then if you ordered 10 batteries you'd likely get free shipping, which would either go as two USPS packages, or one UPS ground. We'll have a final statement on what we're doing on our website later this week.

Thanks for the props!

I, as a buyer, would not have a problem with my order coming in two packages from USPS. I know there could be problems getting both packages the same day, but I also know UPS is more expensive to use.

So I'd take a small amount of possible inconvenience over UPS's rape prices for shipping.

Good news, after some meetings it turns out that I need to correct myself and domestically nothing is changing (yet). I'm sure the US government will match IATA eventually but they haven't announced anything yet so for now the only major effect of this is our international air shipping will be shut down for a bit. Domestic shipping and even UPS standard to Canada is unaffected.
