Well as the title says, I finally broke down and made some juice last night, and it turned out very well! :)
I would like to thank each and everyone on VU who nudged me towards DIY, and gave me the encouragement to jump into this wonderful aspect of the vaping hobby! You guys rock!

I could not vape as much as I do and still afford it if I didn't make my own. I stick pretty much with simple recipes or stand alone recipes. Glad you first batch was good and congrats on making the move to DIY.

The last time I bought commercial juice was last year in Kona Hawaii at a B&M. I didn't need it, but I figured I should buy something to make my spending an hour there shooting the breeze worth their while. Vapers are 99% good folks and if I stop in a B&M on my travels I always snag something whether it is juice or hardware...

Congrats on the first mix! Now you know that you can make something every bit as good as the commercial mixers and save some bucks!

Start making your list of new flavors now Mark, Memorial day weekend is only 2 months away :D The holiday weekends are when the best sales come around, best time to stock up!

Good idea to get a list ready of flavors you might need. Also if you are concerned about diketones then good idea to find out which flavors have them or not. http://www.bullcityvapor.com/ is a good place as they list which flavors have bad stuff or not, http://www.ecigexpress.com/ is not as good at marking flavors but they usually have the best holiday weekend sales.

If I remember correctly you got most of your flavors from DIYFS, not familiar with what they have to offer, never ordered from them. Here is a list of some of the most popular flavors out there though:

CAP Vanilla Custard (Original has diketones, V2 does not)
CAP Cake Batter (Has diketones but even though I try and stay away this flavor is strong enough that 0.50% goes a long way)
CAP Sweet Strawberry
TFA Ripe Strawberry
INW Shisha Strawberry (my personal favorite)
FA Fuji Apple
INW Two Apples
TFA Brown Sugar
FA Marshmallow
FA Fresh Cream
FA Meringue
FA White Peach
INW Peach
TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust
CAP NY Cheesecake (Has diketones)
TFA Caramel (there new one has no diketones, not strong but I love it, never tried there original with diketones)
FW Natural Butterscotch
FW Yellow Cake
CAP Sweet Cream
CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
INW Biscuit
FA Cookie
Lorann Banana Cream Colorless
INW Banana
INW Shisha Vanilla
FW Natural Orange
INW Pineapple
TFA Apple Pie
TFA Bavarian Cream (Original has diketones, DX version does not)

For sure I have missed some but it is late :(

Additives you might consider:

Ethyl Maltol (a type of sweetener, also known as cotton candy TFA)
TFA Sweetener (Sucralose)
One on One Flavors Sweetener (not sucralose or Stevia, works well with fruit vapes as it appears to be citric acid based)
Acetyl Pyrazine (not sure if this is really needed, used already in flavors such as FA cookie and others, if I do use it the amount is very small, like 0.25%)

Nicotine:

http://www.carolinaxtract.com/ Very clean nic and use the coupon code Dada1 for discount. Comes in an amber glass bottle with dropper so it is great for storing in the freezer and longevity.

http://www.vaperstek.org/premium-nicotine/ Really clean nic as well, a favorite around here. Comes in a plastic bottle with regular cap though, I usually transfer to an amber glass bottle for storage.

https://www.nudenicotine.com/ has quality nic as well, comes in amber plastic bottle but can be ordered in amber glass bottles for a premium.

My personal favorite is carolinaxtract, just as clean as the other 2 I mentioned but the nic comes packed properly so there is no transferring to glass bottles.

PG/VG:

http://www.essentialdepot.com/category/2-GALLONS-VG-PG-FREE-SHIP.html
The best deal around and even though a gallon seems like a lot you will be surprised at how fast you can go through VG.

When you're ready to order again just start a new thread and list what kind of recipes your looking to put together, this forum is chock full of really helpful people.

It has been about 7 months for me doing DIY but it has been a blast, happy to see you join the bandwagon!

Nice one :) Won't be long until you have a press full of weird and wonderful juices that'll smell like a sweet shop every time you open it, lol

My problem is finding a Store bought flavor I actually enjoy before I can recreate it. I have settled on just creating my own for the time being.

Congrats.
I too, am new to DIY (made only a few recipes). Isn't it a rewarding feeling when it's a good one?

Isn't it surprising how you have not had to flush one? I am pretty surprised that the one that was not the greatest has morphed into something better than the original recipe.

I usually mix on the weekend. However, I also mix 120 ml batches from different recipes, at a time. Depending on the juice, and tank, they last one to two weeks.

I have not found one yet that is going to be a regular choice right now I am enjoying the variety and still tweaking my recipes so doing only 30 ML batches. The Pineapple or Honeydew is next I just haven't decided yet. Still enjoying some of the creations but cutting my nicotine in half when I started the DIY was a go thing since I am going through twice as much e-Liquid now.

I have three recipes that I like as my ADV. Another two recipes are still being tweaked. However, I'm getting close with both of them. It's more like a fine tuning. I recently switched one of those liquids from a TFV4 to a Griffin, and it tastes totally different. I'm getting a lot more of each of the flavors from the Griffin. Therefore, I'm tweaking it for the Griffin.

One of the best parts of DIY is the variety of mixes we can rotate through and not get bored with the same old thing all the time.
But I can usually only vape through 15ml, and then I need a change, or sooner if my mix is crappy:(.

Strange how the equipment can make such a difference.
Kinda why I've stuck with the same old gear cause I'd have to redo all my recipes.
Just too lazy I guess...

.

Right now I have 8 choices and a week ago all I had was choices of nicotine content.

Well just doing the math with the flavors I have and possible combinations I do not think I have enough VG/PG for all the possibilities!

Why are you waiting? I got bored this after with what i was vaping and whipped up a simple Honeydew which is lovely!

Thanks, everyone. I can't wait to get back to mixing in the next day or two!

Awesome, Mark, I'm proud of you! Just wait...this little journey has just begun for you. Next is a lifestyle, then addiction, and finally a full blown obsession. Lol!
Or is it just me who has over 500 flavors and an office that looks like a vape store? :snapoutofit: HA!

This is soooo true. One of my faves with one tank is a creamy vanilla, with another, it's only a cookie, with another it's a sweet cookie, and finally with another, it's a vanilla cookie. Just crazy how it can change. I keep the mix roughly the same for the most part, sometimes boost one flavor a tad.

I'm not there, yet, but I'm definitely getting there. Over 200 right now. You're an enabler, so I'm sure that'll change,:love1:
