Fly tying vice?

Has any one ever used a fly tying vice to help build coils? I have tied flies but never built a coil. I will soon tho once I can afford some gear.

I have not but I do tie flies and build coils. Have never bothered to use one of my vises but it would work great to hold your work while winding. Threading kanthal through a bobbin might be a great way to wind a nice coil though, will have to try that out.

I built my own coil jig. If you're a tinkerer it should be easy for you to replicate. I based my design on the QVapes jig. I used a block of wood and some drill bits.

A jig is nice because it gives you a little more to hold on to while you wrap with the other hand.

I've never seen one of these before, it's brilliant! I'm going to have to make myself one.
