I always saw people bumming smokes but I have yet seen anyone try to bum a vape, at least not from me. Does that really happen. I mean I have shared, but have never had someone just come out and say. hey dude, can I bum that juice or your equipment. Two different beasts really.

I see it on FB all the time. I was even selling a bunch of mods I didnt use anymore and they proceed to give me a sob story and ask for the gear for free.

The struggle is real.

you will always have those lazy bums.
want what you earned for nothing.
lie about what ever they think will get them any type of free stuff.
and you know people fall for it.
screw them!!!!!

Yeah FB groups are bad for begging. I also agree. If you had the money to smoke. You surely have the money for juice. I refuse to support someone else's habit.

Agree. I have piffed more away than I want to remember to smokers who have now converted. ..thats fine. They didn't ask and they are now vaping. ..but these asshats wanting free mechs and juice need to go sit down somewhere.

I especially loathe the ones who beg for stuff but are fully able to buy their own. I caught one on a FB group that was begging for free juice (sent me a direct message) one day but was bragging about the $100+ mod they just bought a few days later. Your financial situation did not change that damn quick.

I hear ya Ms cheetodog! PIF is great and very rewarding. I love converting folks, I'm never preachy about it but if they are serious about making the switch I will give them what I have. I only have one request, if they find they are not quite ready that they either PIF to someone else or return so I can help another. Enjoy the day!

Yes , if you could afford to smoke , you can afford to vape . In fact after you buy your first set up
vaping is cheaper , by far, at least for me and I was a heavy smoker. As in any community you have some good and some not so good. As for begging , I have seen some reviewers almost come out and ask for the stuff , however not the more popular people.

I'm all about PIF, letting people try something they couldn't afford or helping when they're in need... It's a shame people take advantage... I don't acknowledge begging. If I have something to offer, I'll let you know. If you burn me and I find you're purchasing mods and such soon after. You won't receive anything from me again.

That is the hard part. Sometimes it is almost impossible to tell sincerity from shystering. Some people are pretty damn good actors when they need to be.

I've got a neighbor that is constantly trying to get me to give her a bottle of juice or a Protank with juice so she can "try it". She has been vaping for 2 years and still thinks people should give her free juice so she can "sample" it. She pleads poverty all the time and tries to get my other neighbor to buy beer for her. If she's so broke, how is she able to afford multiple $25 bottles of wine I see empty in her recycling tote every Wednesday morning?

It is a strange thing with vaping. People do look for free stuff all the time it seems. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a proper giveaway and what not but people do go out of their way to try to snag free crap. Perhaps with so many various giveaways going on by vendors, its led that way? How the heck were these people smokers in the first place though. I live in NJ, which is one of the more expensive states to smoke in, but its still pretty costly everywhere else too!

Actually might be a good way to get rid of all the juice you bought that you ended up not liking "sure i have some freebies, here take these and 'enjoy'."
Take all partial bottles and mix them till the bottles and full...sit back, smile and wait for the hate mail to roll in. :p

That is is just plain mean..
But I like it....

I once give some person I knew had the money and tons of stuff, a couple of bottles of 10ml samples I hated. He tried to sell them but I had put the word out already. I wonder if he did ever vape it.

I mean this stuff was really really bad.

Yeah it was mean, I should feel bad...I'll try and see if I can work up some remorse for posting it.
But it did give me some ideas for what to do with this Dekang sauce I've had laying around since I first started vaping and didn't know to look for American made liquids.

As a LONG TIME shop owner, I have given away HUNDREDS of free kits to smokers. MOST of these people continue to smoke. This has led me to a theory that vaping is exponentially more likely to be successful for you if you make the EFFORT and the INVESTMENT.

If you spend your hard earned money (which is often your cigarette money) on vaping supplies, you feel like you should at least give it a REAL shot. Just my opinion, but I try to stay away from hooking people up for free because then they have no reason to stop smoking...

I agree. It's not just the kits. I bought a kit along with crappy liquid, hated the taste and gave up. Ran into someone that let me know my liquid was Chinese and basically junk. Took me to Vapor Vortex and I found some I liked but didn't like most of the sweet flavors at the time. Kept on with the vape/smoke repeat pattern for a while. Then I realized using the tobacco capes was keeping my craving up for tobacco. Someone else led me to Virgin Vapors, fell in love with Plum, Dark Roast Turkish coffee, Double Espresso, Melon, Snake Bite, etc., now good coffee vapes and fruits as a back up are my new addiction. I can cape a tobacco flavor now and still not want a cigarette, but now tobacco doesn't taste as good as it used too. :D

But, you're right, make them invest. The problem as I see it now is how much to invest. I said I'd never pay $50-$100 for equipment. I finally bit for the Vamo V5 after trying out a friends unit, best vaping cash I ever spent. I was using an Evod VV and the difference terrific. The evod is good I carry it with me when I'm out but the difference between that and the Vamo is night and day. So it does take some investment, good gear , good juice and finding the right juice for you is the hard part. Off the top of my head I probably spent $500 before I was convinced and off tobacco.

To an extent, I think success rates were slightly higher when gear was more expensive. We STILL have lots of customers that started on $200+ stick batt kits from the mall...

Now you can get an ego kit blister pack for $20 and that MAY not be enough of an investment to mentally commit for some people...

Of course, it's variable just like what liquids you like. I think had I walked in to a B/M shop in the first place and was able to try out gear like I was able to try out liquids I'd probably been much better off.

Also, depends I think if the person wants off the tobacco or is just curious about what vaping is. What started for me as a possible way to get off the cigarettes has turned into a damn hobby.

Like most of us is suspect, I belong to several forums.

And I am with Ghostrider, if you can afford to smoke, you can afford to vape PLUS.

I may be a little off, but you can get a Vamo V5. charger and batteries,a Protank V2 an some head and juice for not a heck of a lot more than a carton of premium coffin nails if you order from FT and some of the more reasonable E-Liquid makers.

Once you get the hardware, the maintenance is dirt cheap in comparison.

Not to mention once you get into RBAs and you are doing your own coils and wicks?

And then there is DIY E-Liquids.

But I digress.

On these various forums, I see what I call a lot of "Dry Begging"

Gosh, I wish I could try that.

I wish I had one of those so let me know if you are tired of yours as you just got a better thing.

Granted, I have had some friends send me liquids to try and pieces of wire to start me out with my RBAs.

But I never asked for them.

The offer came from friends and I took them up on it

And I will always be grateful to them.

But I have also said, you really have to try this and sent them some of this!

And I keep a small supply of the 180 mAh 510 stick batteries and USB chargers and some cartos to give to folks to get them away from the stinkers.

Granted they are cheap as heck but they work.

And if they show real signs of sticking to vaping, I will get them an Ego and a T-2 plus some heads and juice.

Face it, there will always be moochers.

As a e-liquid maker and show host, I have seen bad behavior from both angles. Normally I just blow it off, but when someone digresses to lying or cheating I will expose them for all to see.

Like many have said above, if you could afford smoking, you can afford vaping.

This thread makes me think of all the Vapers.tv shows. I see the same people over and over again win juice. I have no problem with that at all. I just don't like seeing people beg. I have been hanging out listening to these shows for the content, not the freebies. I wouldn't mind winning an authentic mod on a show, but the rest of the stuff, they can give to others that may or may not be able to afford them. I can afford juice, clones, etc no problem, so it doesn't bother me when others win those items. In fact, I have won and passed on 15-20 juice rolls and a couple of minor accessory clones (RBA/RDA). It's not that I don't appreciate it, I just don't need it and hopefully the persons that won as a result of my passing do.
I've won my share on vapers.tv...piffed my share too...piffed much more than Ive kept (I've won twice so far tonight on these shows while reading the forum and piffed both)...these days I generally only keep what I haven't tried before...I see a few folks, and one in particular, who win constantly and consistently and rarely pif unless they have to cause the sponsors will make em...drives me nuts...seriously, who can vape that much joose?....spread it around...

Sadly due to my schedule, I am in bed before these show even start and therefor cannot participate.

Heck, I would be in bed now but for the acid reflux.

It suck's to be me.

But hey, if you feel bad for me, send me a message to ask where you can send a really, REALLY EXPENSIVE MOD and I will get right back to you:eek:

I started on a 70 dollar cigalike kit from a local mall kiosk...looking back, it was overpriced and a piece of shit setup, but it did get me off the stinkies so I cant slam on it too hard...lol

I'm fairly new to vaping, when i first started to watch the shows on VapeTv i was eager to win as much as i can. Well that got old really quick, because I accumulated more than enough juice for myself. I still am a regular viewer of the vape shows and now when i win i usually ask if i can piff or i ask to re-roll. The only time i will accept the win is when it's a juice that i've been wanting to try out, or if it's a certificate because you can never have enough batteries. I hear the same people all the time claim that they piff way more than they keep, but yet i see them keep everything they win. I have no problem with someone winning all the time, congrats to them. The people that irritate me are the ones who say they piff everything but yet keep everything they win and never see them pass it along.

An OVER abundance of giveaways has made the vape networks UNWATCHABLE. I used to watch and enjoy the chats, but now it's like the just do giveaway after giveaway and nobody even chats....and when the chats do get going, it just gets buried in numbers for giveaways.

I certainly hope present company is excluded....some of us do pif far more than we keep...

My name came up 3 times on shows last night...kept the one I havent tried....piffed the other 2...thats pretty much how it works...

i have people at work that i have sold starter and advanced kits to. They are always bumming juice off me. I thought i would get away from that when i quit smoking. I guess i was wrong. But on the other hand, i make the liquid so when i do give them some it might cost me like 30 cents at most so no biggie.

Well said. Most shows are all about the number of sponsors and giveaways they have and not the content.

As a test, I have visited shows under a pseudonym to ask basic noob vaping questions. Sadly, many of the show hosts either didn't know the answer or couldn't be bothered that a noobie vaper needed help.

I do tend to win a lot, it comes in waves. Sometimes I pif and sometimes I don't. My finances are not what I would like them to be right now and it makes me feel bad that I can't support the sponsors the way I would like to. That being said, I do give a lot of my juice away. I have probably given away over 30 bottles just in the last month. Some are flavors I don't care for or I like them just not that much. Hopefully the folks I give them to will like them and order some of their own. I will only give you a "gift baggy" once though. I am not a charity. As far as the begging in shows goes, it seems like some of the hosts kinda wanna see you beg. The "1's" drive me batty. I wish vapers tv had something that would block duplicate log-ins from the same ip or multiple accounts from the same ip. I have seen one person win and then they log out and their alter ego logs in. Irritating
