My cereal Killa clone tastes like dirty gym socks!

Hello, I have been making a cereal killa clone for months now and it's always amazing. I usually vape it within a week so I never let it steep because it's so good. Well I made a bigger batch last week and it was perfect as usual and I have been vaping it on and off since then and all of the sudden last night it started to develop a nasty taste, It tasted like I would imagine dirty gym socks would taste. I've tried to drip it and vape it in a tank and still taste horrible. Has anyone every had this happen to any flavor before? I don't understand what could have happened.

I make and vape a ton of flavors and I rotate flavors throughout the day so I don't get tired of a flavor or get vape tongue and every other flavor I have taste fine, it's just this one!

Without more information on what brand of flavors, flavors themselves and what percentages, we won't be able to help.

Sure thing, I probably should have done that.

FE Lemon 3%
FA Meringue 2%
FW Hazelnut 2%
FW Yellow Cake 2%
FA Bergomont 1%
FA Orange 1%
Cap Tang 1%
Cap Lemon Meringue Pie 1%
TPA Sweetner 1%

Don't really see anything obviously wrong here.
Sometimes flavors change with longer steep time, FE Lemon being an exception tho.
I suspect maybe FA Orange might be fading some.
I'd try making up a small batch again and retesting.

I actually just made a batch about 5 minutes ago and it is perfect. Something is causing the funky taste after steeping for a week. Someone else suggested it is the meringue and that the new version has a sulfurous taste to it. They also mentioned it might be the bergamot or a combination of them sitting. I don't know but like I said I have been making this flavor for months and never had an issue until now. I am using the same bottles of flavorings too so that hasn't changed either. The only thing that has changed was I made a 30ml batch this time instead of a 15ml and I let it sit for a longer period of time.

The only solution I can see is making just enough eJuice to last just long enough, before it starts changing it's flavor. I have an Apple recipe, that I make 30ml only, due to the apple flavor fading over time.

Think HIC mentioned using TFA Meringue instead sometimes.
Forgot to mention Sweeteners & EM can cause flavor fade also, usually in about a week.
Might try subbing the Sweetener with 0.5% TFA Brown Sugar + 0.5% FA Marshmallow instead.
Or just reduce it to 1-3 drops, or try the same amount using Stevia.
Oh BTW, I only use the FA Meringue at 0.5-1%.

It's not that the flavors are fading, they are all there but there is a nasty sulfurous and funky taste to it. This is probably the most popular and made clone out there and it just doesn't make sense, if this had happened before or if it was normal someone would have posted about it.

True, if it's a popular clone, wonder if you've got a flavor gone bad?
Only other thing might be the NIC, PG, or VG.
Have you changed brands recently, or opened a new bottle of anything?

Nope, nothing has changed and that's what is driving me crazy! Unless my taste buds are playing tricks on me. I'm gonna let it set for a few days and come back to it I guess. I'll also have some other people try it out and see what they say.

I'll throw this out there.....

Hazelnut + Steeping can = Strong/disturbing taste change !
Now thats maybe just me...... And I never tried FW Hazelnut so YMMV.
Meringue could be suspect as well with a long steep.

Just MHO.....
Good Luck !

FW Hazelnut is all I use anymore and I've never had it do any bad things even after steeping:slowclap:
