Anyone actually vaping over 50 watts?

I know it's a silly question but I'm curious with all the high wattage box mods coming out lately, does anyone even vape over 50? How about over 75? What are the benefits of having a 100 or 150 watt box mod?

I totally get the desire to go bigger better faster more power etc it's the American way right? But is anyone actually using this extra power? What about the safely concerns of pushing the envelope in regards to power? I fear a bunch of freaking 150 watt bombs blowing up/starting fires. Imagine the news frenzy and negative impact this would have on the vaping community as a whole. China isn't exactly known for safe high quality products. I'm not a clone hater and I've purchased from fasttech myself but this is uncharted territory and I for one am hoping it doesn't blow up in or faces.

I normally cruise at 37 watts with a .6 ohm dual coil setup, with a Kayfun or Expromizer, I run 18 watts at 1.2 Ohms. I like my vape warm, not scorching hot.

When using tanks on my ipv2 i stay around 1 ohm (at 4.2 v or 18watts) . When using my drippers i stay around .3 and go up to 40-50 watts.
My ipv3 is on the way via DHL and i will have the ability to go to .15 and beyond 50 watts (and it quite pleasant).
High wattage low ohm are not my daily vape however. I mainly chose the bigger box for the dual battery life.

On my Paradigm Magma I run a .8 coil at 17 ohms. Just a good solid vape. For those who chase clouds I gotta wonder if you rolled your own huge loosely rolled cigarettes in order to make huge tobacco clouds?

50 watts on my drippers .2 ohm builds. On a mech they see about 65-70 watts when you figure in the voltage drop. Most of my drippers have been drilled out for more air flow to keep the vape cool.
22 watts on my Kraken .7 ohm build, 16 watts on my Kayfuns & Tiafuns 1 ohm builds, 20watts on the orchid .9 ohm build

I guess if you go under .2 ohms you need the 100 watt plus mods. But can they handle the amp load needed? I usually stick to mech's when dripping down to .2 ohms. I don't build anything lower than .2 ohms.

I have a 30w device that I prefer my mechanicals over. I can hit 75wish range with some builds but if I could go higher safely, I probably would.

I have two 50 watt devices and I rarely, if ever, vape with them turned all the way up. For the most part, my coils are usually around 4-5 Ohms and I'm totally content at 30-35 watts. I'm going to buy one of the new 150-200 watt devices like the IPV3 or the T8 just to have one. I doubt that I will need all of that power but it's nice to know it's there in case I need it.

I've never even vaped a regulated beyond 30. I see no point.

In a word, no. The mods I prefer to carry around are small and light as possible and unregulated. I try to build coils with that limitation in mind, even though at home I can use much higher currents. Got my first Orchid a few days ago, built a dual coil @ .8 ohm total, and it gives me huge lung hits even on an 18350/500 stealth mechanical. Lemmie see, .8 ohms @ 3.7 V is 4.6 amps or ~17 W. Even considering V drop, that's nowhere near 50.

If you do a sub-ohm build (.1-.3 Ohms), you could easily use that much wattage, especially with twisted or heavy gauge Kanthal. The thicker Kanthal takes more time to heat up so the extra power helps facilitate that much more rapidly.

Yeah I've realized that these 100 plus watt mod are really just for those vapers that build sub .3 coils. That and people who just want a higher wattage mod simply because it exists or they equate more powerful with better. I'm not hating though to each their own.

My 85w is a .20 build. Dual coil 22ga 6/7 wrap.

My 40-50w is .45 build. 2x 27ga 5/6 wrap.

I slap them both on my 50w box sometimes. Crank up the .4 to 50w and crank down the .2 to 50watt. :)

I just got my first vv/vw bow mod (if u can call it that, the e-lvt, 6v-15w, got it super cheap!) and want to now how to set the v-w for say a nautilus tank? I think I will be using it primarily for my tanks, gennies at around 1ohm.

After this 30w purchase, my next mod needs to be multiple battery, 0.15-3ohm, 150w AND step down. I don't want another mod that can't do lower watts as well as crazy power for low ohm builds

Cuz you can do crazy shit like this but more...this is a dual coil at 40 Watts.

The ipv3 is a buck device...so it's got more than just cloud chasers for customers..

As does the smy god, but it is boost and buck... WIDE voltage range...supposedly. PWM Voltage..but I think I'd live with that to experiment with different current levels. I'm thinking watts are watts.lol.

With a 1.6 ohm coil, I am usually somewhere between 13.5 to 16 watts depending on the E-Liquid I am using. The lower wattages are for cinomin flavors and the like.

I have never gone over 23.5w on my Vaporshark rDNA. That is with a .8Ω dripper build. With my Kayfuns at 1.2Ω - 1.5Ω I go a max of 14w. So for me I see no need for 50w. Hell I have never and probably never will hit 30w on the rDNA.

The only reason I am considering getting either the IPV V3 or the God mod thingy is battery life the lowest I have vaped on the IPV v2 is .3 ohms and I rarely go that low I usually hover for mechs around .5. .6

I'll be picking up a vapor shark because I like the small form factor but I know I wont make use of the watts. Although evolve having a new chip coming out makes me want to wait and see what that's gonna be like..

With the IPV3, you'll have to build subohm coils to achieve the full range... which sucks. Means it's basically a mech/with wire gauge you need. 1-7 Volts with IPV3.

I like standard resistances at higher wattages/voltages..26-28awg kanthal are my preferences.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it a big plus of the high wattage devices, that you don't need to subohm. You can achieve similar results for example with a 1.5 ohm build at high voltage as a subohm build, without the high amps. Maybe I got it wrong.

Your not wrong at all . you get more out of these higher wattage devices by building higher ohm builds not lower.

Is the sigelei using another version of the sx330? Or is it the v3, and ipv3 is using a different chip? That only bucks voltage...:/

i was hitting .2 today on my ipv3 around 100 watts. It was pretty powerful.
I had to stop... too much nic (8mg).

I regularly Vape over 50 watts. When using a dripper .3 and about 60-70 watts. I like the quick short pulls 2-3 seconds. Although when using an rta like the orchid I build around .8 and run 20-25 watts.
 
If I have a .6 to .9 ohm build I run 60 watts on my sigelie 150. Perfect amount of vapor, not harsh or hot. Right now I have a .2 ohm dual coil build and running it on anything more then 45 is HOT

I think most people that vape that high are into more of the rip trippers/twisted messes hobby coil builder crowd. I rarely go into my local shop anymore, but when I do, the people doing it are the "new breed" who never actually smoked and just got into it as a hobby to be cool. Let's face it, the majority of us started this to get off cigarettes and could care less about "clouds". Yeah, some may play around with RDA's and building in the lower sub ohm ranges, but you don't NEED that to stay off of the stinkies. The only "high power mods" that I own, I just bought for double batteries to make my using them at 15-20 watts last 3 days..LOL

once in a blue moon I might crack over 50w,but its pretty rare these days.
With my mini RDA I'm even happy at 14w!

I dont take issue with those that do go high power. The equipment safety risk on high power rigs is VERY VERY overstated.

It depends on my flavors. For my coffee flavors i do .2 clapton on my Tesla Two box (mechanical box) but on my VW i rarely go over 40. I like a warm vape for my dessert and coffee flavors, but my fruit flavors i like it cooler.

The lowest Ive been in the past few months was 58 watts and that was only when I was using the Atlantis V2 with .3 Ohm coil, I like a warm vape at around 90 watts and between .1-.2Ohms
 
I run a .1 on my Ocxy and i normally run on 80-90 watts and i run .2 on my smok and super tank and i run 70-80 and they do not over heat nor burn.

Hell yes! Actually I don't vape much under 5Ow these days.. I vape the .25 Crown about 65-75w..and vape this dual coil Nichrome build at 75-80w..

Wow. Old thread. Single coil, thin wire, small chamber mouth to lung atty, under 20 watts. Dual coil, thick wire, large chamber direct lung hit atty, over 50 watts. Don't like sub ohm tanks as they're no match for a well setup, proper rda in my experience.

40 normally but I kick it to 50 every now and then. Nothing wrong with having 500hp even if you don't need it.

My normal setup is 75 watts using a 0.12 ohm rda with 20 gauge kanthal.
Sometimes use a thiner gauge that is a bit higher, but still under 0.2 ohms.
Currently hitting a quad coil rda with (I think) 26 gauge that comes out to 0.16 ohms

More metal means more wattage needed to heat it up to produce that warm, thick, flavorful vapor that I love feeling filling my lungs.
Well, produce it without having to wait 3-5 seconds anyway. Even at 75 watts there is a bit of a ramp up if the coil hasn't been fired in a min or so. Sometimes I up it to 90 watts, but I have found that going much higher then that results in the coils getting too hot and drying the cotton quicker then it can wick, eliminating the ability to take deep breath lung hits.



As for tanks, my newest tank is an Atlantis V1 that I got when it first came out last year with 0.5 ohm coils that I use at 30 watts. But really the only time I use it anymore is if I have no charged batteries to run my RDAs.

I don't understand how one can get a good vape at low wattages. Well, I do. High ohm, mouth to lung devices. Do 20 watts on sub ohm tank and it'll laugh. I do 50 to 65 watts on a sub ohm tank. Up to 75 joules on a temp control rta. 50 to 60 on a kanthal/low resistance build on rta. Up to 115 on dripper. Some drippers have so much airflow, that they need a ton of wattage to make fairly warm vapor

So curious what is your nic % and your vg to pg ratio.
