The Joy of Stainless Steel Claptons

Hello all,

I recently had @raymo2u whip me up a set of stainless steel claptons and it's quite the experience. I've always preferred SS over any other wire for TC but never found the flavor to be quite as good as regular, old Kanthal. Well, I can honestly say that SS claptons surpass Kanthal claptons in flavor and performance. If you are a fan of flavor and TC, SS claptons are the way to go. Excuse the shit pics, they don't do the coils justice. I'll get some better ones up later.

Much better pics. That's what they looked like before I mangled them with my shitty coil install skills and my overly sweetened juice. Don't have the coils or numbers on hand so maybe you can give our friends all the deets on number of wraps and what have you.

Thanks

I've been fiddling with this off and on for a while, anyone have their mods jump out of TC on them? Wondering if stripping the clapton off the leads would prevent that, or what's going on? When I get it to work, it is great, nice flavor and all that. Though I do notice I get way more of a nicotine hit for whatever reason, I vape 12mg and never feel it except with a select few builds then it's just a nice punch to the face.

Nope...not with the G2....almost all my other devices do though...They think they sensed a new coil and jumped out or its a bug...

@raymo2u are those made with wire from advacevapesupplies?
No...I have yet to receive wire from AVS yet. Those are made out of KidneyPuncher SS Wire. AVS wire will only be used for AVS wire lengths that they will sell on their site, you wont be able to purchase the wire from me directly but they will have it on their site as soon as its available.

Raymo, you ever try 321 SS?

I picked up some 28 gauge to try and just popped in a simple twisted .2 build and liking it so far. Wanted to try since 321 is used for high heat applications like jet engine, furnace, etc.

No..Ive only used 316L, 317, and 430 so far...They dont seem too much different then each other or atleast enough to justify buying one over the other for me

430 has a better TCR for TC but other than that I agree.

I'm just curious to see if it holds up longer, ramp up and cool down seems good.

304 I don't like at all, seems to have an odd taste and doesn't hold up as well either. 430, wasn't overly impressed. 317L does seem to do TC better but I really don't do TC these days since I got into Mech's, that and too much busy work IMO. 316L is good, but lower resistance than 317L also which really why I prefer 317L, can run smaller coils. Not a huge difference, but 1 less wrap does matter

I like large wide coils so Im more for higher resistance then lower resistance as the builds I make are low in general...This is my latest coil:

Very nice, which why I prefer 317L for it's slightly higher resistance. I do love my series mods, which BTW, how you liking the Piglet?

I got the Fat Daddy Noisy Cricket upgrade which pulled them out of the backup bin. Very nice, but still love my VCP better

I love its size and button! Someone on the forum has MCM Underground that I was looking and may possibly trade later for but because Ive never held one Im not sure if I'd like it more or not...for now the Piglet is the mod Im using the most with the Rafale X.

That is a nice mod, finger print magnet but is nice looking. I like how they include a heat sink, I don't like hybrid connections so that is a nice addition.

Raymo, those are some beautiful coils man. I honestly think some of the coils being made now could rival the art hanging up in museums. I mean it took work, precision, and pure creativeness to make.... Boom we need a coil museum.

I like that idea. I'd finally have an art museum to drag my wife through besides the NRA's.
