Anyone actually vaping over 50 watts?

Why would lower power cause a problem?
0.2ohm at 30w is only 12A and 2.44v. Personally it sounds like a very unsatisfying vape, but far from unsafe, if the mod can step down that far. Most vents are from battery issues, improperly using a hybrid, hard shorting a battery or overdrawing the battery.
If you are using a VW mod and prefer a low power output setting, there is no problem with that. Should never have a prob unless you exceed your batteries Amp and or Watt limit (regulated mods have safeguards to prevent such issues).

Just spun up some claptons. All Nichrome 80. 36 AGW over 24 AGW with a 3mm ID, 9 wraps, dual coil. Comes out at 0.34 ohms. Doesn't come to life until it gets to 85 watts and doesn't really shine until it hits 90. Vapes excellently at 100 watts most of the time.

I usually sit around 60-65w on my Smok X Cube Mini. .6 ohm Kanthal coil.

Maybe Im in the minority, but I never, and I mean EVER, vape under 50W anymore. Not even in TC.
Right now, in my pocket, is my TFV4 with 10 wraps of 20g Ti clocking in at 0.150 ohm that I put 70 watts into before it reaches 420F.
My dripper has 6 wraps of 20g kanthal that I run at 100. Once my new Diablo Baal V2 shows up, Im throwing in my double twisted 26 that will be somewhere between 150-180w.

The thought of going back to 50 is terrifying, but I do prefer warm thick vape. The sub 100w range just doesnt satisfy.

I'm usually at 75-90 .-. I've picked my drippers up more lately and my builds have been around .1 lately.

I'm sitting at 65-90w on my Project Sub-Ohm S200 (DNA 200), depending on the tank or dripper I'm using. My Uwell Rafale has a 0.2Ω SS316 parallel coil in it, which it recommends a 60-120w setting. My drippers are usually set at a pretty high wattage.. I like my clouds (and killer flav).

With my tfv4 I run it at 85-110w pending on what I feel like, that's with Clapton coils in, I have tried it at 150w and its insane, above that and my device pulse outputs.

The only other tanks I use on a Reg basis are the crown, which i run at 70-85w, and the cyclone which I run at anything from 75-130w it's more of a gimmick than a everyday tank imo

Hi all,

I'm fairly new to building myself but I'm running a sigelei 150, mini buddha rda, 24 gauge kanthol, dual parallel coils at 0.14 ohm. finding with that with this low of a building I need to run at 85-90w to get incredible flavour and clouds. im still messing around with wicking techniques to get good juice flow.

Anyone building with Ti wire and dripping in temp control? thought I might try it soon.

As far as tanks, I'm loving the uwell crown 0.25 stainless steel coils at 55w.

Cheers

I know it's a silly question but I'm curious with all the high wattage box mods coming out lately, does anyone even vape over 50? How about over 75? What are the benefits of having a 100 or 150 watt box mod?

I totally get the desire to go bigger better faster more power etc it's the American way right? But is anyone actually using this extra power? What about the safely concerns of pushing the envelope in regards to power? I fear a bunch of freaking 150 watt bombs blowing up/starting fires. Imagine the news frenzy and negative impact this would have on the vaping community as a whole. China isn't exactly known for safe high quality products. I'm not a clone hater and I've purchased from fasttech myself but this is uncharted territory and I for one am hoping it doesn't blow up in or faces.

Tread lightly folks and consider wether or not it's worth the risk.

End rant
I know you posted the a long time ago but i run a tfv4 tank with a .16 ohm clapton Octuple coil between 130-140 watts

I usually run at about 70 watts on my KBox 120 with a Crown tank & .25 coil.
It brings out flavors I didn't even know were in some of my juices when I was using my 50 watter at 35 watts & .50 coil.

I think the title to the thread should read ' Anyone actually vaping under 50 watts'
Yes. 15-25 watts in small-chamber bottom-fed RDAs. MTL with 15mg/ml liquid. For over two years, this has been an excellent replacement for my previous 2 PAD smoking habit. I see no reason to turn myself into a human fog machine. ;)

Ah Bill !Whats in a name? I too am Bill & I too love my TFV4 octo-claptons about 120 watts just to warm them up! Took them to 200w once & the only burning was my tongue! LOL! With my tanks I have now & the builds in them I find myself between 80-120w! Depending on the ohms this is usually between 3.7-5.0v for the proper warmth!

80 Watts on my Crown and Velocity. 55 Watts on my Griffin. I find that some juices just taste better for me at 80 Watts.

Like all things, diff strokes.....

Im glad there is such a variety of devices to suit everyone's needs and keeps one off the cigarettes.

Some peoples dream cars involve 1500 horse power engines, millions in the price tags, etc.
If you can afford it and want it , go for it.

Me Im old and my dream car is a 68 VW Karmann Ghia. It turns me on.

I love mechs , they just do "it" for me.

I do own a 60 watt Yihi box device, never use it higher than 11 watts? Same with my P3.

It goes up to 11

I'm not an ultra high watt vaper by today's standards. I have a Boreas, Griffin, TFV4, Gemini and others and I seem to run them at 70-90W using 316 dual claptons. I took my Boreas up to 150W once just to see how it was and it's too hot and intense for me. Even though I'm running them on RX200's and other 100+ watt mods, I keep it below 100 and I'm fine with it. My mechanicals, .25 ohm builds give or take, provide me with the kind of vape I like. I have one 50W mod, and I can't even run my tanks on it, but I can barely run a dripper. Just not enough for me. I prefer a warm, dense vape.

I have a lot of hard wear, run a lot of different setups :) I use tanks exclusively now :) Most are in the 30 to 45 watt range.
I do have 2 setups I run at 75 watts :) An Istick 100 watt with a TFV4 Dual 26 gauge Kanthol coils at .3 ohms on the dual RBA section, the TFV4 is a power hog, IMO you can easily run it up to or over 100 watts. My second 75 watt setup is a Cuboid with a Boreas, running dual Ti coils at .17 ohms in TC, The Boreas can easily handle high wattage, I find it really performs well at 75 watts :)

I vape my Griffin from anywhere in 50 to 70 Watts anything below that the ramp up time is to slow on my builds. Also these larger mods tend to have two batteries or one bigger built in one so even if your not using the watts the battery life is good to have. Imo

And how 'bout those Cubs last night! Nice, huh?

Oh yeah, I'm currently vaping Mallow Nation by Merkury at 70 watts on my KBox 120/Crown setup. For me it depends on the juice as to what wattage I use.

I only use RTAs and RDAs and my setups and builds vary. Some are setup for about 22-28w, a couple for 35-40w, a couple for 45-50w, my highest is setup for 65-70w. I like them all and use them all at different times depending on my vaping mood. I do most of my vaping between 35-50w

lol Blast from the past eh? The OP just blows my mind. I only just started vaping about 3 or 4 months ago now, and honestly cant imagine a world where 50 watts is seen as almost unreasonable wattage. Its just mind boggling to me. I have my lil Mini Volt and its ALWAYS maxed out at 40 and thats not close to enough. The Kbox Mini 50w is never used. I can use the SMY 60 I have if its maxed out and its a comfortable vape. 60watts is like my bottom threshold. Any thing lower is like...well, it just doesnt feel the same. I feel for the struggle you older heads went through.

What struggle? I bought an eGo style kit to see if I could substitute it for SOME of my smoking habit, but I had no intention to quit. Four days later, after one upgrade to Pro Tanks and bigger eGo style batteries, that habit was GONE. 8-10 watts was all it took. :p

I ordered that new Uwell Rafale on the vaporjoe special. Believe me it takes 70 watts just to push enough vapor to make me happy.

Personally using 10 wrap, dual coil, SS316L on a Gemini RTA and RX200. I vape at 45W 450F. I pushed it to see what happens and at 60W it starts to taste burnt.

Standard single wire coils are good up to about 50 watts for me, depending on the atomizer. The more advanced multi-wire coils simply have a ton more material to heat up, and don't really come alive until 60+ watts for me.

My Goliath V1 works well with a 0.25 OHM build (Twisted 28g*3 Kanthal), and works great anywhere from about 60-90 watts depending on the juice.

I've been perfectly happy for the last couple months running dual parallel coils, 30 gauge, in my Bellus. I went with the 30 gauge because of the tight build space on the Bellus. I run it at 29 watts. It ramps a hair slow, but I like the leasurely lung hit I get from it, and am more than happy with the dense clouds it produces. Great flavor too, of course!

I haven't run my RTA in a while, I've been using my SMOK TFV4 tank on my Tesla Nano for a whIle I believe I am running a
.5 ohm coil and I'm usually running around 50-55 WATTS on a regular basis. On my RTA I built a duel coil that I usually run at 70ish watts.

This comment was before I got my SMOK RTA & RDTA, or my Griffin 25's and just go my 2 Boreas tanks today...dual SS Claptons in all....takes 45-55 watts just to get the motors to turn over....so run them all around 50 watts depending on the juice. If I go over 65-70 watts the vape starts peeling skin off my tongue and the flavor (which is what I'm after) starts to drop off. I've never hit over 65 on any of them, but with my 2 & 3 bat mods at that setting I go all day long without changing batteries.......my Sigelei 75 watt TC single batt mod works good too, but better carry at least 3-4 spare batteries if your going to make it all day in the wild at 45-50 watts......

My Crowns are for the time being sitting on the shelf looking pretty.......:sad:

By bottom threshold moved from 60watts when I first posted in this thread, up to 80 watts. I almost never go below 80 watts anymore (cept on mods that have a limit lower than that, which are probably all on their way out), and even 80 seems "low" for me. Usually I vape between 85 and 110 on regulated mods, and well over 130 on series mods. It is what it is. When I first started building coils I only used tiny little micro coils and swore by them and could easily get away with 50-60 watts. Now with all the fused staggereds and aliens and staples, I gotta have more! lol

Damn I went over 25 Watts recently and said it is not for me but there is a new 150w MOD in Vape Mail now and a new tank might just be in my future.

I must ask how warm is a vape at 75 + Watts? :vapemail:

Got my sig 213w dialed in at a massive 16 watts with the Merlin :)

At work I crank it up with the TFV4 with 1.8ohm clapton coil at 23 watts on a vape forward stout :D

I actual dialed it back, I was vaping 0.5ohm claptons at 35 watts, but realized as a MTL vapor, can get same vape at higher ohms and lower power ;)

Totally depends on the coil youre running. Got a single 30 gauge build at 1+ ohm? Its gonna be hotter than hell and probably pop. Using a 0.1 ohm dual staggered framed staple set up? 75 watts will barely push it. All relative lol

I vape between 26w-65w.

Mini volt - 26w
Snow Wolf 1.5, RX200, IPV5, part of my daily rotation are set for between 50-65w
My new daily vape, Vaporshark DNA 200, stays in SS TC at 540 degrees with a 80w pre-heat, 60w. My back-up TC mod is a Sigelei 213 with the same settings as the VS (minus the pre-heat). The IPV5 also gets used in SS TC, again, same settings minus the pre-heat.

Yeah, with bigger builds and airier atties the high wattage allows it to ramp up quicker. If I build with 24G or Clapton (usually dual coils) I'd probably start at 50w.

I just realized...this is a very old thread and I just answered the OP. My bad.

Going between my Uwell Crown with a 0.25 ohm coil at 70 watts and my TFV4 with the octuple coil at 110 watts right now. My Cleto and Triton are the only two tanks I use that I don't go above 50 watts.
