Well the rumors seem true. Sony has stopped production on many of their 18650 batteries causing the massive shortage we see. Enter the batteries offered by Samsung. These are 22AMP which can bring you down safely to about .2 ohms.

The 20R is 2000mah and the 25R is 2500mAh. They both have the same amp limit.

I find the 20R to be more cost effective at just $7.99 vs $11.99 for a few hundred extra mAh.

THE HARD COPY:
  • Nominal capacity: 2000 mah
  • Nominal voltage: 3.6v
  • After a fresh charge: 4.2v
  • Max Continuous Rated Discharge: 22 amps (at 25 degrees C)
  • Cycle info: Drops to 60% after 250 full charge/discharge Cycles
  • Don't discharge below: 2.5v
  • Standard Charge: CC/CV @ 1 amp / 4.20 volts +/- .05v, 100 mA cut-off
  • (Max) Rapid Charge: CC/CV @ 4amps / 4.20 volts +/- .05v, 100 mA cut-off
  • Weight: 45g
  • Height: 64.85 +/- 0.15mm
  • Diameter: 18.33 +/- 0.07mm
  • Operational Charging Temperature Range: 0 to 50 degrees C (best below 45 degrees C)
  • Operational Discharging Temperature Range: -20 to +75 degrees C (best below 60 degrees C)
  • You can store them for 1.5 years at -30 to + 25 degrees C, 3 months at 30 to 45 C and 1 month at 30 to 60 C (in other words, store them in a cool place and they'll last longer)

i have been arguing up and down with the Cloud Chasers Inc group on facebook that this battery is not safer than the VTC's. They're telling me the pulse rate makes it the safest battery there is

If the battery is safe, has a decent amp rating and a 2500 mah rating at a decent price, I am happy to have it:D

I saw a Interview with a Vender in tight with illumination Supply. According to Him He Illumination Supply and a Representative from Sony who asked asked for a meeting to learn about the E-Cigarette Industry and where its at now. The Sony 18650 battery supply question was Reported answered by the rep--paraphrase-After the nuclear plant melt done in Japan one of their manufacturing plants was shut down. They built a new plant in the Philippines. They have steadily moved production at the new plant from 20% of capacity to now about 60%. In the mean time they had to keep supplying their major customers. According to this report Sony is getting more interesting in the Electronic Cigarette Industry not less. I believe I found the link to this Video- a popular Vapor Tv broadcast with 2 guys-- on ECF

The Rep from Sony was the one who asked for the meeting which lasted about 2 1/2 hrs. The Sony Rep was also very interested when the guys showed him a sample of a large order of Sony fakes[Very Good Job of fakes] that Illumination Supply purchased high up in the supply chain

If they are cloud chasers, they fail. Pulse rate is worthless. What it boils down to is quality and battery chemistry. ANY battery will PULSE I could say that battery has a pulse rate of 90A. Although it is possible to get it to pulse 90A I would strongly recommend NOT doing it. Reason? Exactly how long is a "pulse"? 10 seconds? 5? 3? 1 second?
Example.. using Samsung 18650 25R High Drain battery... If you build a quad coil at 0.1 ohm and fire it on a full charge (4.2v) it is PULSING at 42amps. Now considering the battery has a sustained rating of 20amps. 42 amps is WELL above that. Yet the battery will pump out 42 amps and about 190w. But how long can that battery PULSE at that rate before it goes thermal? And that, is why we do not ever consider a batteries PULSE rating.

So ALWAYS buy Sony, Samsung or LG. NEVER buy rebranded batteries, especially Efest. Any battery label that claims a pulse rating is deliberately deceiving you and should be avoided.

By the way, whenever you "pulse" a battery beyond its stated sustained discharge rate (in this case, 20A) you damage the battery and shorten its life span.
