I have a couple jars of VG bought for DIY, but I'm just not comfortable with the quality for vaping.
So I'm thinking of other uses for it and have found fascinating ideas online. Anyone want to share their experiences with any of these ideas, or have creative others to add?

* artificial sweetener - Well, it is sweet stuff, and it is "food grade." I read that is does not raise blood sugar in diabetics but (not being diabetic) haven't confirmed that. It would be a pretty cheap way to sweeten my coffee, so I might try that in place of my usual Sucralose.

* soap - there are instructions for this all over the web. Seems to me one could add some floral 'flavoring' to make it smell nice. um..not my kind of craft, though.

* lotion - I actually tried this on my elbows and it's pretty good - like corn huskers' lotion, but lighter. If you can't vape VG (allergic), I wouldn't do this.

* woodworking - I've seen mention of VG to bend wood (or maybe straighten it). I have no immediate need to bend wood <snicker>

I have about a liter.... any great ideas? (I don't want to pass it on to anyone else who would vape it.)

Just did a quick google - my favorite use so far is this one for pans:

'Glycerin has applications that make household products. Grease molds and cupcake pans for easy removal after baking. Prevent hydraulic jacks from freezing with a little glycerin applied to exposed surfaces.

Interesting that this article says it has a 'relatively short shelf life.' I wonder how long that is?

I've used it as a skin moisturizer but that's about it.

Interesting topic! I'm going to try a bit in my coffee tomorrow. I usually drink it black, no sugar, but will experiment. I know some people who are diabetic and this could be a great alternative if it does not raise their sugar levels. I've been told that vaping does not raise your level. It is also used by commercial bakeries to maintain moisture content in the finished product.

You want another use for VG? Make some soft and rubbery DIY bottle storage devices...

Just add some unflavored gelatin (Knox) to it , a little tap water, stir it all together - profusely. Carefully heat in 10 to 15 second bursts in your microwave as you stir, stir, stir. (Add a little food coloring to suite your decor.) When the mixture no longer has a "grainy" feel to it, the gelatin has melted and you are ready to pour. I'm sure you already set you bottles in place (and use a small ball of clay to hold them in place). After the pour, let sit for about 10 minutes and then place in fridge for 30 minutes. Remove, allow to reach room temperature and carefully unmold everything:

If you don't like the result, just re heat and re pour. It's reusable!! Cleanup is a breeze. After it cools, it will peel off the container and can be reused.
I needed to "level" my red mold.

I used ½ cup dry unflavored Knox gelatin (from the grocery store), ½ cup VG, and ¼ cup tap water.

edit - this is not water proof. It seems to have a similar consistency to silicon rubber - except this is reusable. Mine are holding up well. I built my first test units about a month ago, and they are just like new, today.

Mineral Bath Salts
2 c. epsom salt
2-4 Tblspns vg
Few drops of essential oil such as lavender or rose for scent
can also add a few drops of food coloring if you like
Combine in a large glass container. Each day turn the jar to stir. After 2 weeks place in decorative jars for gifts.
Add 1\2 c. to bath.
My kids used to make this for their teachers.

Breadcrust...hmmmmm yes , I am sure there were some that should have gotten that ;)

You could make a ton of bubble solution with that much glycerin.

You can find VG in pharmacies.

Great laxative.

So ummmm, how'd it work out in your coffee Ethel? After reading the other posts about it being used a laxative I'm wondering if you were perched upon the porcelain throne for a few hours, lol. I sincerely hope that wasn't the case.

From what little bit I've gathered it appears to work as a suppository or by ingesting it orally. I imagine that it would take a generous amount for it to be effective when taken orally. If not, I assume that we'd all be more regular as a result of vaping ..hahaha.

I wonder if you can use a mod as a suppository - as in, insert, press the button, and hey presto! instant bowel movement.
It'd have to be eGo-sized rather than E-Huge-sized, preferably, I supposed...

you can use VG (and PG too) as a solvent to make a tincture. herbal tinctures are great. ;) you know, rosemary, basil, etc. even garlic although i realize garlic is not an herb- but it doesnt matter. you can make tinctures out of lots of plants. chop up the herb/plant-matter, place in a mason jar about half-way, fill with VG/PG but allow for shaking room. allow a few weeks for the "steep" by storing in a cool dry place, shaking daily. once the liquid has changed color, youll know it has been infused. longer steeps make stronger tinctures. when finished steeping, strain the spent herbs with a cheesecloth and viola! instant herbal infusions at the ready. great for jazzing up a dish or for cocktails, etc. get creative :)

I just spit coffee everywhere in a fit of laughter. I'm still laughing too. This is one of those things you will remember at times you shouldn't be laughing..and start to laugh.

Lol! I did forget to add some to my coffee, but that probably is a good thing as strong black coffee can have a laxative effect all on its own! :)

Kind of OT, but... That's the only thing I miss about cigarettes: the first one in the morning I had with my coffee would have pretty much the same effect. Whenever I felt I needed a little help, or I couldn't wait because I was late for work in the morning, I'd gulp my piping hot coffee as fast as possible, then I'd smoke a cigarette. That would give me an instant urge to go. E-cigarettes don't do that.

my bottle of humco vg says it can be used to *lubricate* suppositories. i dont think vg in and of itself is a laxitave- judging by the label anyway.

but anyway as far as that morning poo goes, its all about the fiber pills. those puppies will have you shitting like a sasquatch.

When the plunger in my syringe becomes dry and starts to shrink, I use a few drops of VG to bring it back to life. It lubricates the rubber, causing it to expand, and fit perfectly inside the syringe once again. But that only takes a few drops.... What to do with the rest of HIC's liter.

I used vg to get rid of a bad taste in my kayfuns. I bought some juice from cigabuy here and it's really disgusting. It tasted and smelt like dead rotting feet and no matter what I did I couldn't get rid of the taste so I immersed my kayfuns in vg over night and it went. (Chucked that god awful juice in the bin. That was easy to get rid of).
