How long will vaping last in it's current form?

Clean room or not every single one of their juices and all of the hardware they sell will have to become FDA approved within 2 years or so.

Unless they are just clueless they are planning on making as much money as they can before the axe falls. And do not want any customers going over to DIY before they close their doors.

You would think that biz would be really good if they preached the doom and gloom though.

For a while....
How many can actually afford to stock up on 2 years worth of store bought ejuice?
2 years of worth of DIY supplies though....

I'm supposed to be stopping everything nicotine related as that's why I'm here but I don't know if I could convince my wife that I'm buying diy supplies for 3 more months of vaping (wellness check at work for big monthly discount)

Actually I started this thread about vaping tech and such more than the FDA stuff.
Seeing how much it has changed in the past 3 years alone, where will it be in another decade?

I think the innovations will be intense and big leaps and bounds will be occurring in the next few years - it just may be much more difficult for the US consumer to access.

But look at how many great innovations have come out for RTAs lately - the potential in the coil (or coil-less even) market is huge.

But the free-wheeling open market for many consumers (EU and US) will be the real losers if the FDA isn't reined in a great deal.

Reading forums where people are stocking up is driving me nuts. It seems a lot of people are stocking up before 8/8 which I don't understand since things will be available for 2 years 8/8/18. Am I missing something?

We don't know how it will play out after 8/8. Technically, that is the cut off date for new products hitting the US market and vendors will have two years to liquidate or get those products approved - which may or may not be granted.

Already, several states have passed restrictive sales laws, etc. and folks there are having a bitch of a time getting vendors to ship to them.

Several credit card processors have dropped vape stores as clients.

One of my critical vendor's site just shut down and one important product I need to keep off smokes is only now available on a very limited basis from a third-party seller in a diluted form at triple the price.

I am not in any way willing to "wait and see" how vaping will look (and cost!) after August.

Isnt 8/8 also the date for nationwide age restrictions, and thus shipping issues as sellers find themselves having to do things like switch to age-restricted UPS shipping or making buyers send in copies of drivers licenses?

I know some vendors are already struggling with this from what I'm reading.

There are other weird things going on - too many for me to accurately state

To me, anyone who cares about their vaping and isn't preparing may be in for a very rude shock.

If nothing changes (law suits, etc, FDA changes position , etc) you are still ahead of the game.

Reminds me of when my grandpa stocked up on his favorite pipe tobacco because the local place wasn't going to have it any more (I don't remember if the company that made it went under, quit making it, or what, just that he loaded up). But yeah, I hear ya. Best to be prepared for the worst. That's why I have 2 gallons of 100mg nic in the freezer and will soon be ordering more, and have been buying numerous mods, RDAs, RTAs, coils, wire, etc. Aside from batteries, I *think* I'm prepared enough to last the next 15-20 years *laf*

I'm lucky. My Mr. - who still smokes and is just now showing any kind of interest in vaping - is one of these semi-dooms day prepper types.

He recently jumped on the vaping-doomsday bandwagon and is now helping me financially to stockpile.

Oh yeah, I tried to buy something from a Texas vendor last May - they demanded the last four digits of my SSN and a copy of my license or they wouldn't sell to me.

I declined that BS.

I buy from ecig.com which is in TX I think but it seems that their stuff is shipped from OK or somewhere?
A way around the TX law I expect.

Ecig treats Alaska like a foreign country in their shipping so I refuse to buy from them also, lol.

I'm not sure where ecig is based out of. I found an address in FL when googling awhile back, but everything I've gotten from them ships from Oklahoma City, and the return I had to send in (a defective battery charger) went to a UPS store in OKC. Oklahoma is very vape friendly. The only state laws to speak of are that the buyer has to be 18+, if someone under 18 is caught vaping they face a misdemeanor charge and small fine unless they tell who sold/gave it to them, and no vaping on state property (which is selectively enforced, after all, the state highways are state property and they don't pull people over for vaping on the highway)

Hmmm are interstate highways still state property?

Here in KY we have Interstate, State and county roads.

I am fully stocked ammo wise but that's about where my prepping ends. I have a few water filters and other misc stuff too but I just started vaping last month for a means to an end. I really enjoy it though and could see myself taking this a little further if allowed too

To me it is an end to a means also: stopping smoking tobacco.

While it would be great to quit vaping also, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

As for the other stuff, you can't hardly get into the man cave for all the MREs, solar/handcrank shit, etc.

There is a 12' Conex in the yard that is about 70% full of ammo.

No, you can't have my address

Dunno how the interstate highways are set up (who technically owns them), but Oklahoma's state highways are state owned. ODOT (okahoma dept of transportation) also owns patches of land along some of the highways (some set up as rest stops, some just grassy patches), but again I've never heard of anyone getting ticketed for vaping on them.

Dig a little digging, the state property ban was an executive order signed by the Gov. http://watchdog.org/121993/oklahoma-e-cigarettes/ Didn't know that two townships (the small towns of Ada and Shawnee) had also banned it on city property. I'm not sure how well those city bans would hold up in court since Oklahoma doesn't allow municipalities to pass laws that are stricter than state laws, and since the state property ban wasn't passed by the state legislators. Even with those strikes against it, though, the state is very vape friendly compared to many.

The way I see it, from what I know of how badly the FDA/ big PHARMA wants vaping gone. On 8/8 all vaping items not cleared through US Customs will be siezed (the owners charged with violating the ban) . The USPS will not transport or deliver anything from a vape related e-commerce site. All internet and print information will not be available to the public and all signage for vape shops will have to be covered until it can be removed. All in all, the FDA/ big PHARMA proabition will be even more severe than MJ. Existing stocks will be sold out and not replaced by the ban, net result, vaping gone.

Actually that may not happen until the first of next year when all vaping products must be registered with the FDA.

There are different dates when different restrictions kick in

August 8 is just when no new products are allowed to be put on the market

There are various things happening over the next 2 years. 2 years is the deadline to file for getting a product FDA approved to sell. Depending on when you file it might be as long as 3 years before you are forced to pull your product from the market.

on 8-8-2016 Childproof caps, 18 to purchase any vape stuff and NO new products are to be introduced to the market. Not sure how they can enforce the no new products though until they are registered with the FDA.

Around the end and early next year all vape products MUST be registered with the FDA.

There is more. There is a calendar of the schedules for the various events someplace on here.

Yep ordered another beater 65w mod today for a bit under $20 including shipping.
Might pass it on to a smoker at some time.

And some of the dates of implementation depend on how big your vape business is.

many of the juice sales right now may be to get rid of non complying juice bottles before 8-8.

My plan is to have all purchases in my house well before August 1 and then sit back and see how it shakes out.
Me too I am buying a few things that are good deals or strike my fancy right now.
Bought another Lemo2. Have one and maybe 20 replacement glass. Figured I needed to balance things out with another tank.
They are also getting hard to find. Not a fantastic tank but with the right coil and wicking they are ok.

I bought a couple more Mech mods a few days ago, don't really like them, but all the regulated mods will in some point in time fail.
Although I believe many of us could begin an underground mod factory within a few hours....:confetti:

All of my local shops act like this fda thing is no big deal and nothing will change for them. They said juice may get a bit more expensive but since they have clean rooms for mixing, that they expect things to go on as normal. Any idea why they are not concerned? Is it an act or are they just clueless as to what is going on?

Me too Juice...better safe than sorry. I don't plan to stop vaping anytime soon.

I'd like to have several items available to help others stop smoking, like Bob mentioned.

Which in my opinion is worse than us not having enough gear and nic available. Once regulations are being enforced, thousands of people each day in the USA may have very limited access to anything decent to get off cigarettes with. Can only hope the lawsuits put an end to this nonsense.

Wut? To have a clean room?

If they are making their own juice, every component of that juice has to be submitted to the FDA for approval, each item costs about $330,000.00 to get approval, and if not approved, they lose the 300K per (each) item submitted for approval.

Gotta agree with you there.

I do feel that those future vapors that may never be are the real losers in all this.

Realistically, nothing would make me happier than to wake up August 9 and find out I stockpiled a lot of vape gear for no reason.

Mainly, I will miss all the innovation going on in vaping right now, in addition to my own personal evolution as a vaper and getting to try new things and finding new plateaus in vaping is quite an adventure.

I never had all this with smoking, that's for sure. If nothing else, it got increasingly unpleasant, especially the more socially unacceptable it becomes. The FDA is trying to sway the public opinion of non-vapers into the same as actual tobacco use, or even worse.

It's criminal.

I hope you are right, but I don't see the 'FREAKING DUMB ASSHATS" being that kind and genorus, I expect to see them swat flies with a hand grenade, they see vaping as a disruption in there plans to control nicotine comsumpion, they want vaping gone, nothing less to them is failure.

I have 12 mechs. $10 was the most I paid for any of them and they are all good mods. All have center pin 510's too.

I also have some spare boards and 510's for some of my regulated mods.

I'm lucky to love mech mods.

It is easier for me to use regulated mods at work, but I can adjust if I have to.

I've put most of my money into attys and some into parts, as I think mods will be easier to get than attys, just because of how easy it is to pass them off as flashlights and what have you.

Attys, not so much.

Some of us like just very slightly warm vapor.

That's me -- I want some warmth, but not enough to burn my lips. I remember every once in a while, I'd get one of those scorching hits on a cigarette, make a blister on my lip... I hated that! I've done that with metal drip tips too, and it's not pleasant.

As far as I'm concerned, vaping in its current form will endure as long as my hands are capable of getting that 29ga wire around those tiny screws.
