So I got a new sub ohm tank today. I'm used to my RTAs where I could just change the cotton for new juices. I don't like them mixing. What's the best way to clean the cotton in them? Usually I'd try dry burn them to her most the moisture out the cotton. 9 times outta 10, the cotton gets burned. I've also tried water rinsing the coils, but i sweat that messes up the cotton. Burn also drying. What do you guys do? Maybe the rinse method could work and just have to use less heat and more time slow drying?

Depends on which tank you're talking about? I mainly use the Crown, and I haven't found a successful way of cleaning those coils at all, mainly because the cotton is burned by the time they're ready to be changed in any event!

Tfv8. Had a tobacco flavor and want to use my candy flavor.

I just read about someone using an ultrasonic cleaner. Interesting

It's going to be trial and error. You can try washing them in very hot water or vodka, popping them in a UC, and letting them dry thoroughly (it takes a while). But I've never had success this way.

An ultrasonic works by vibrating the 'parts' until the 'dirt' lets go of a surface. I would think the offending (?) flavour molecules might jump off the cotton strands but then just land back in them when you turned the UC off ?
A forced rinse method would work, maybe a hairdryer to dry out the cotton after ??

If you remove the O-ring and thermal gasket you could boil them.
I've tried many methods but it just seems that once you get water on the cotton, its never the same.
So I just replace with new.

I tried numerous ways to clean, at best not even mediocre results.

Do yourself a favor and just get an RTA, seriously.

That's why I always use RTA, whenever I need to change juice just takeout old cotton, wash RTA deck, dry burn coil and replace new cotton. Reay again :bingo:

I rinse my used coils out with hot water to start. Then I let them soak overnight in a vodka/water solution. Then I let them air dry. DON'T rinse them out again with water, just let them dry. For some reason when I rinsed them again after soaking in the vodka/water solution, I got a weird taste. Not sure why or what caused it.

This must be a better grade of cotton. I rinse and dry it and it works fine. Not falling apart, no weird taste or nothing.

When I change flavors I take that cool out if it's still good and put it in a ziplock bag with whatever juice I was using at that time. Or if I'm in the mood and know the coil is getting old I'll use my dark juices to finish it out because there's no way to get the taste out. Youre not changing the cotton so there's always gonna be a linger of that other flavor. I've tried all of the above and even vodka in an ultrasonic cleaner. I did five 3 minutes cycles. And it was not a strong juice and was clear. Hope this helps.

Pure VG, after you get it as dry as you can, throw some pure VG in it (add 1 drop of water to thin it out) vape it till the flavor is gone and dump the rest of the VG, and dry the tank...
