WHAT IS ELIQUID

Most people who switch from smoking to using a electronic cigarette are in search of that eliquid that taste just like a cigarette to help make the transaction from smoking to vaping smoother.

The problem is you will find eliquid that comes close , but there will never be a eliquid flavor that taste just like a cigarette.

The reason is , its not smoke its vapor. There is no combustion like you have when you light up a cigarette. That instant when combustion takes place over 4,000 chemicals are created that hit your taste buds along with the tobacco flavor.

With electronic cigarettes, there is not combustion just PG and Vg with tobacco flavoring and nicotine.

So the taste will be different.

Advise,
when picking out eliquid you have to put these things into consideration.
1. Did you smoke full flavor tobacco? (this helps determine your flavor choice and nic level)
2. Did you smoke two packs or more a day?( This also helps pin point nicotine strength)
3. Did you smoke menthol? (helps determine if you need something with menthol in it)

These questions asked can help start you on your way in the right direction.
If you were a heavy full flavor smoker, odds are you will need high nicotine strength to start. Over 2 packs a day at full flavor 24mg nicotine is ideal to start.

If you smoked about a pack a day I would probably start with around 18mg nicotine strength.

If you smoked light cigarettes and a pack a day you might want to start at around 16mg to 12mg nicotine.

Finding flavors is the next chore, there are so many eliquid vendors in the states alone it makes it hard to pin point where to start and what flavors. You could end up spending alot of money just trying different flavors.

What Are PG and VG?
An e-liquid needs a carrier to work properly. The carrier holds the nicotine and flavors in suspension and turns to vapor quickly when heat is applied. These are the jobs that propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin perform in e-liquids; PG and/or VG make up the bulk of what every e-liquid contains. Both are essentially non-toxic to humans, carry flavors well and emulsify easily with other substances.
The most important thing to remember about PG and VG is that both are considered "Generally Recognized as Safe" for consumption by the FDA, so you're already consuming them in processed food and applying them to your skin in the form of cosmetic products. However, you're probably not inhaling them. The lack of research regarding the inhalation of PG and VG is something I discuss in my article about e-cigarette pros and cons.
Benefits of PG in E-Liquids
Compared to vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol is thinner and has less flavor of its own. An e-liquid containing all or mostly PG may work better in e-cigarettes such as the eGo-Tank, which require the liquid to travel through a very small opening to reach the heating coil. When used on its own, PG produces a vapor with a somewhat thin mouth feel. In general, an e-liquid comprised entirely of PG may have slightly better defined flavors than an all-VG e-liquid.
Benefits of VG in E-Liquids
On its own, vegetable glycerin tastes a little sweet. In an e-liquid, therefore, you may find that it makes certain flavor notes a little difficult to detect. In addition, VG is also a bit thicker than PG, so the vapor it produces is a bit thicker as well. As a result, you may feel as though a VG-based e-liquid produces more vapor than a PG-based e-liquid.
PG vs. VG: Which is Better?
While propylene glycol is a synthetic chemical, vegetable glycerin is derived from plants. Some people prefer VG for this reason. Others prefer VG because they have allergies or sensitivity reactions to PG. If you experience throat dryness or other adverse reactions when using a PG-based e-liquid, you'll want to switch to an all-VG e-liquid immediately. Virgin Vapor is an ideal e-liquid supplier for people with sensitivities; they use only organic flavorings and no synthetic chemicals. They also do not add PG to e-liquids unless customers ask for it.
Otherwise, for most e-smokers, the ideal e-liquid contains a combination of both PG and VG. The thickness of the VG increases the perceived amount of vapor produced, while the PG increases wicking speed and enhances flavor definition. You’ll have to experiment to find the mix that works best for you, but many e-liquid vendors use about 80 percent PG and 20 percent VG, which works well for most people.

Propylene glycol is an organic compound however, not synthetic.

Good write up and strong vote in support of Virgin Vapor they have super juices for those interested in organic, non synthetic pure VG. They have two lines one absolutely pure and another with alcohol. When I do VG they are my go to vendor. 5 STARS.
