FA flavor fade

First, let me say I love FA flavoring and I know I will catch some hell over this, hopefully it won't be too bad. I like to mix larger batches and flavors that fade don't work out well for me.

The only two flavors that I have that seem to fade are Lemon Sicily and Forrest Fruit . In order for me to avoid flavors that are bad to fade, I'd appreciate hearing which ones you think are the worst. I'd like to avoid those and try to find suitable alternatives.
:thanks:
ETA: I may have more than two that fade. I have several that I haven't used yet.

Yes, some of the flavors do fade - I notice it with the citrus more than anything. But knowing this it's not hard to add a touch more of the flavor that fades :)

Lime Cold Pressed, and Lemon Sicily, as already mentioned. I've done the "add more" when that happens, and it works fine. I've also mixed lime stronger than I normally would, and the fade turned out well, LOL. Those are the only 2 that spring to mind, IME.

You shouldn't catch hell, flavors do fade sometimes.

Nah, no big deal, it is what it is.

I've had the same problem especially with Lemon Sicily although I will say, the flavor fade issue is not limited to FA by any means.

You never know. Some people are very loyal and can become upset, even irate, if they think someone is in any way trying to bash their favorite. Which is definitely not my intention.

So thus far we have Lime Cold Pressed and Lemon Sicily. I'm not sure about the Forrest Fruit, it may have been overpowered by another flavor in my mix during the steep process.

It's only the limes and lemon that I've ever had fade on me and to counteract that, I just add a smidgen of the corresponding INW flavor. So, if use Lemon Sicily at 1-2% in a recipe, I'll add 0.5% of INW lemon concentrate or lemon mix as well. And to either of the FA limes, I add around 0.5% of INW limetka. They seem to provide some sort of holding/staying power. YMMV, of course

On their own, do those INW fade, or hold? Good info.

They hold. Other than the general blending/smoothing that all flavors do, I haven't found any citrus flavor fade with INW
Thanks, that's the kind of info I was looking for.

Fa custard has lemon notes and supports fa lemon Sicily in a mix with the fade. The issue is the recipe may not call for custard. If your are creating a recipe some fa custard may help stop the fade some. Subject to taste.

FE Lemon carried by ECX has better staying power IMO.
Gees, next size up from 10 ml is 120 ml. lol
How concentrated is it?

Like fresh squeezed in a bottle, good stuff.
LMAO Now....Iffn I was gonna mix up a batch of something with lemon in it, I wouldn't have a clue what percent of fresh squeezed to use. jk

I agree. Those two flavors are very prone to fading, and that's why I limit myself to mixing a max of 50ml at a time with those.

For me, it's pretty much all strawberries that seem to fade in no time. Strawberry ripe, sweet strawberry, INW strawberry + shisha strawberry - all tend to fade or get swallowed up in mixes.

Forest mix, I find holds up, at least in one of my regular ADV custards it does. I do back it up with a touch of INW blackcurrant, raspberry and pear, seems to keep the fruitiness alive

More than likely because of all the "other" stuff mixed in IMO.

Nope, I even had a mix I called 'mucho strawberry' because that's what most of the recipe was. I don't have this problem with ANY other fruits. Just made up a vanilla strawberry ice cream today, will see how it goes. But in 6mths or so, I've never been truly happy with any of my strawberry mixes, always felt they could be better

That's odd, I usually loose some of the Strawberry taste only when I use too much Cream and/or Vanilla.
I added 0.5% TFA Sour to mine ad seemed to make it brighter.
0.5% EM would be something else to try adding.
Some add 0.5% INW/FA Raspberry to help the SB pop.

I'm fairly easy going on creams, I'm not a 6% sweet cream type :D In fact, I stopped using sweet cream ages back, i found it was responsible for muting some mixes over time. Also it smells like musty cheese, nowt sweet about it.

Might be just that I'm eager to mix up a vivid, lively, realistic strawberry, and I have yet to nail it. But then, it seems not many have, because I've tried some hyped up strawberry mixes and they didn't do it for me either

Right and as I learn those I will want to avoid those too.

Just as an example of this, CAP Lemon Sicily is very similar to FA Lemon Sicily ( IMHO ) and as such, also suffers from flavor fade. I enjoy both flavors but I do have to adjust the percentage to the amount in addition to considering how long the mix might ultimately last.

I was reluctant to start this thread but I do think some good info has come out in it.
LOL!! You won't be attacked. It's good info. I would hope people wouldn't be that closed minded, but I do understand. Most of us use a variety of brand for reasons such as this, and personal preference of taste.

I've switched to TFA Dairy Milk as I like it much better, I normally only used Sweet Cream at 1-2% tho.

2 month ago I mixed fa forest mix, fa apple and fa blackcurrant in 50/50 bases. Each one in single bottle, 5%, no other flavours or nicotine added.

All of them were great next day, sharp and full flavoured. After 2 month steep, the flavour in the 3 as faded to almost half, less sharp, matured. They are still good, but not so delicious as fresh mixed.

This is my experience.

For long term steeping. Just bump up the percentages. But I rarely use FA these days. INW, Totally Wicked GS, and FLV hold up for me.
