8ml How far will it go?

Hi Everyone I'm a newbie to the DIY juice world. I'm ready to give it a go and I'm ready to make an order I think I'm going to go with Wizard Labs because it's in Florida and so am I so I'm thinking shipping will be faster. My question is WL offers 8ml bottles of extract how far or how much will 8mls of flavoring make? I dont want to buy to much and not like the flavor.

Thanks

Depends how strong the flavoring is to taste it. Some require more than others. 8 ml is plenty to sample tho.

8mls can actually last ya a bit, depending on the concentration the flavor. Some flavorings are more concentrated than others. From Wizard Labs choices, I'd pick Inawera as their most concentrated line, but each brand has it's very good flavors, and it's dud flavors, LOL. Most places I order from I get faster than Wizard.

Bull City - 2 days
ECX 4-5 days
RTS 2-3 days
Wizard a week or longer.

The good thing about them, you can get those sample sizes for a pretty good price.

Yep, if it's as strong as most FA flavors, 8ml will last a while.

Thanks for the replies, I was first going to go with HeartLand ,but I'm on my last bottle of juice from the local Brick and mortar shop and tired of ordering online from Mt Baker and both are getting pricey. So I'm needing to get something pretty quick I was hoping being in the same state I would get it faster but now that I'm thinking about it it may take longer to process then the people you mentioned? also WL offers priority mail free on orders over 65 and other offer free shipping but not fast just normal mail and I dont want to wait a week or so to get it.

I have ordered a lot of my flavors from BCV, as well as from ECX (west coast), when I'm not in a hurry. However, they both have excellent customer service. Actually, one time I placed two orders with BCV the same day, 'cause I forgot to order a flavor. I received an email, that my order was combined, and the S&H had been refunded.

Scratch that last statement I found the nicotine on WL should I look to buy 48mg or 100mg? that's also a part that has me confused?

Get what your comfortable mixing with. I bought a 4 ounce 48mg the first time to get my footing. From that point on I bought 100mg. Many people just go with 100mg to begin with. Depending on the size you get and the mg you vape, if you get 100mg you might need to consider storage.

Lots of good nic companies around if you choose other than WL. I hear their nic has improved quite a bit. It used to be pretty harsh, but it's been a while since I had theirs.

If you have been a previous smoker, don't be afraid of getting 100% nicotine base. I had larger drops on my hands, I just wiped it off with a vaper towel (paper towel) immediately, and didn't have any nicotine rush. The next question will be, whether to get it in PG, or VG. If you want to make eJuice above 80VG, you should go with VG, below 80VG, the nicotine base in PG will work for you.

Yeah I was a former smoker it's been 4 years and I've been vaping for 4 years its was easy to quit once I started vaping. I'm not new to the game of vaping just new to the DIY juice making. I do try to stay above 80vg anything less seems to give me heartburn lol...I tried 50/50 once and couldnt do it,my lungs seem to get real raw, so I bought a bottle of Max Vg and added it to all of my bottles and that was it for anything under 80/20 vg/pg Thanks for letting me know about vg base nicotine I also wondered about that to. Thanks for the info

8ml won't last long but it's the preferable amount for someone who is just at the testing stages.
No point buying bulk before actually trying out a flavor.

If a flavor sucks, 8ml will last a long time, or if you have many 8ml flavors, they too will last quite a long time too. I like the 8ml size/price at Wizard Labs as I can try new flavors or different brands of the same flavor without hurting my wallet too badly. If only they carried Flavour Arts then it would be the only place I shop at for flavors.

Since I live about 12 miles from WL, I could pop down there, use their PC in the front office and get my flavors the same day. That's pretty fast. It could be faster though, I could be thinking of what flavors I want on the way over and my order would be ready.

I'd compare the cost to others like BCV & ECX as most are just 10ml size anyway.
Except CAP is 13ml.
Price difference between 8 & 10ml may be very little.
Main thing is not to buy 30ml+ sizes until you find the ones you really like.

WizLabs actually processes orders pretty quickly, it's that damn FL USPS that messes it up -- I'm in ATL, and I can get stuff from Arizona and Connecticutt faster than from FL!

8ml is a good size for trying new flavors without going broke in the process; once you identify ones that you really like, you'll definitely want larger sizes, both for convenience and economy of scale.

Shipping is fairly fast in Florida as long as Ooompa Loompa (Opa Loka) sort center is bypassed.

I've gotten stuff from AZ, CT, even Hawaii! in 3 days. It never takes less than 5, from FL. Even if I order it 2-day priority, that just means 4 days instead of 5.

Yeah USPS is probably the worst of them all but not always, I do alot of racing and I can order parts from NC,VA,KY Monday morning and they will be at my door Weds. I ordered flavors from WL on Monday morning and got them Thursday so yeah it should have been faster ,but I guess it depends more on the sorting places I guess...all in all everything went pretty good other then everything I mixed tasted bad LOL, I kinda gave up and just ordered premixed flavors I knew were good from Mt Baker and now that the FDA put their paws on everything I dont think I'll be able to get anymore from Mt Baker...so I guess I'll have to figure this DIY stuff out again soon ....

It's really no harder than cooking. Just keep in mind, when you bake something, for example... is it just one thing, one flavor? Or does it have a lot of diff ingredients? The reason why pastry is so good is BECAUSE it has a lot of different ingredients, all playing a symphony in your mouth -- same for ejuice. If you use just one flavor, and a very low percentage, it's really not going to taste like much of anything. If you use 5-10 ingredients (flavors), and get to about 20% flavoring... nirvana. And don't be afraid to go higher -- my ADV was 31% flavoring when I first started mixing it; I've been working on bringing it down some, it's such a massive gunk monster, but it's still about 28% flavoring -- 4 flavors plus sweetener. I've vaped it pretty much all day every day, since Dec 2014, with just a few excursions into other juices. Because it's just that good.

Cruise the recipes section. There are a LOT of tried and true ones in there. Seriously fantastic mixes that make you feel like a superstar mixer. Different brands have different concentrations, so what's worked for me, is to start low on percentages. You can always add more, if need be. With all that's going on with the FDA, DIY is going to be your safest bet to have juice available to you. Get back to mixin'. :D

Yeah I guess that was part of being a newbie, jump in and buy a ton of flavors that sound awesome together and then mix and say Ewww or dang shouldnt have put this in it or that much in it. I'll be back to mixing shortly and yes I have some good recipes I'll be buy and mixing those flavors first lol....Should have done that from the start But Nooooooo I HAD TO DO IT MY WAY LOL.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE, you're fairly safe til the end of the year, maybe even later, but since we're talking about the FDA, they may change their mind next time they fart.

+1 for Heartland Vapes. I buy all my flavors, VG, and PG there. Great prices and shipping is usually 3-4 days to Western NY. Only issue is that they have a bit less selection than other places.

I kinda gave up and just ordered premixed flavors I knew were good from Mt Baker

Keep in mind most of the MBV flavors/mixes are Flavor West.
Except for their house blends of course, and they may just be a mixture using several FW flavors.
Once you learn your flavors you will be experimenting with more success.
I'd start with simple, or single flavor, recipes first.
Fruit
Fruit + Cream
Fruit + Cream + Vanilla
etc.
Or try some recipes from around here first.
Be patient as it's likely to take some time to get into it.

That seems to be the hardest part knowing what goes with what and how much of each, but I'm sure it's that way for everyone starting out. I was tasting some MB blue moo and it dawned on me to think outside the box a bit and I haven't tried my theory yet but I was thinking instead of trying to go with blueberry as a main that it might be better to go with a creamy milk taste and then add the blueberry as a background flavor. I'll figure it out sooner or later.

AndriaD have you ever tried the blue moo? it's like if you had a bowl of blueberry cereal and you were down to just the milk it's pretty awesome stuff. But their Forrest Berry Fusion is my fave if I could clone that I would be good to go for my EDV

No, I've only tried 2 commercial blueberry flavors, both were Blueberry Muffin -- I found Hard Rock Vapor's Blueberry Muffin in my local shop, and it's very good, but 50/50 PG/VG, way too much VG for me, and only available as 0mg, 8mg, or 16mg -- none of which is right for me. Then I found Blueberry Muffin at sweet-vapes.com, and they allow you to customize the PG/VG pretty well, at least i can order 80% Pg, and by adding a little more flavor, some TFA Blueberry Extra and TFA Banana Nut Bread, and some sweetener, can get it close to my preferred 85% PG. Sweet-vapes isn't a "discount" place, I'd say their prices are mid-range, ($16.95, 30ml) but I know for a fact that their blueberry muffin is EXCELLENT.

wow, you vape 85pg? I tried 50/50 and OMG it about made me gag on a RBA. I will say thought that i got a freebie and it was 50/50 that has been sitting for a few months and I vaped it in a RDA and it didn't have that harsh hit like it did when I first tried it so maybe I need to just let that stuff sit a while lol

Actually I've gone as high as 87% PG, but after a few weeks, I started getting diarrhea, and I recalled someone mentioning that too-high PG could cause that, so I backed off to 84% until it went away, then went back to 85%. Last couple weeks, my asthma has been bad, so I've gone to 86% for a while, at least till this fucking humidity is outta here; probably another 6 wks or so.

The one time I vaped VG as high as 33%, i woke with the worst asthma attack OF MY LIFE, so I quit that shit RIGHT away and went back to 80% PG, then 85%. VG just glues my airways CLOSED, and feels like I have a hairball in my chest that I can't cough up to save my life.

LOL, Oh Boy!!

Vaping has truly been an adventure, that's for sure. I've been thru: asthma attack from too much VG; cankles and sore lumpy feet from dehydration/electrolyte imbalance; appendicitis/appendectomy; relapse to dual-use; return to smoke-free; cravings that could stop a BUS, till I found WTA; yet more asthma issues till I got on Advair; finally weaned off WTA after 15 months of it.... Somehow I've stuck with vaping, because it's the ONLY!!! way I've ever been able to abstain from cigarettes, since I was 14 yrs old.

Chopdoc told me the other night that I vape weirder than anyone he's ever heard of -- 85% PG; 10w, 2 ohms, on an RDA, which has a tight draw similar to a carto -- but it's still working to keep me smoke-free, which is absolutely the only thing that matters.

I should have never come in to money - not a lot, but enough. My bases are insane. 12 liters nic 100%. 16 gal pg/vg, 3 liters Flash and well...

I'm not bragging by any means...it's like, "Dude, you gotta problem!" Hell, I'm getting huge amounts of Vape Mail daily. China has caught up with me, not to mention the last minute US purchases I made on 8/7. Man, it's good to breathe.

Wow, Sista! That's intense. Keep Oxygen at home. Buying electrolytes is a good idea. Used to give it to my 2 boys. Will get some. But for you, Missy! Up your VG slowly and cool your jets. Up your nic if you have to. It will defer the urge to vape as often. Plus, make you sick if you vape too often. Just my 2 cents. By the way, thanks for steering me in a direction for DIY. I may have taken the path less traveled, but that's my way. I won't show you my ejuice collection. I have enough to last me YEARS...and that's not taking into account my decline in nic use. Really, thank you.

You take care of yourself. PM me if anything is bothering you.

No, I don't keep oxygen around; too dangerous, hazardous stuff, and really not good to breathe it pure unless TRULY necessary. No need to up my VG, no desire to; 85% PG suits me right down to the ground -- I'd vape 90% PG if my body would let me! I've gotten my nic down to 3.7mg, from my high of 10mg; I'll end up at 3mg, but since I started having smoking dreams again, I'm going to slow it down a little; I've got 3 liters stashed, so I'm good for the duration. :D I expect I can probably be down to 3mg by the end of the year, and then just stick there. No desire or plans to go 0mg.

I fixed the electrolyte/dehydration problem with coconut water; it got rid of the cankles and sore lumpy feet completely, within a week of starting to drink it daily, and as long as I have at least a little bit every day, they stay gone. I still struggle a bit with leg cramps, but then I just drink more coconut water AND water, and walk 'em off. Part of the reason for those is the salmeterol in the Advair, but I gotta have it, so I just deal with the cramps when I get 'em, as best I can.

Glad the DIY is going well for you; it really does open up possibilities, and gives so much freedom! it's because of DIY that I can adjust my PG/VG and nic levels so precisely; with bought juice, I could never have this much control over it. :)

That scale looks awesome, like it came out of a Fisher Price play set.

For OP.

I've ordered from almost every company, and the two I'm most happy with are bcv(now bcf) and liquid barn. I think lb did a great job with flavors and I pretty much only use lb nic. But all my non nic orders are from bcv. The prices are better, shipping is 2-3 days even living in seattle, and the rating and sorting system is better than any other site.

If you're new, try sticking with bcv at first. Also check out elr for most bought and used flavors and the diy subreddit for the must have flavors in the side bar, and also please read the sidebar. Any questions you have you can post here and you will get non-asshole responses(unlike reddit) so don't be afraid to ask.

I liked their Blue Moo but had to let it steep for a week, maybe longer.
Just didn't taste right when fresh.

If they are using FW flavors:
FW Blueberry, FW Milk, FW Hazelnut would be a start, (Hazelnut is pretty common in cereal mixes).
Try 3% + 4% + 1 to start

FW Butter Pecan & Cinnamon Roll are also great flavors that both will work stand alone or in mixes.

I like TFA Blueberry Wild and TFA Dairy Milk better, but normally I use along with TFA/CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.
FA Marshmallow would be a good one to add just a bit for sweetness/body.

I don't think I've ever had anything from mtb that didn't have to steep at least a week.

Thanks Prep! I am new to this, as you can tell in my "Lab" dining room pic. One question: I received 8 liters of nic LAST WEEK. I have it on the dining room table, being cooled by the air conditioner - vg base. Should I put it in the frig until I'm ready to split it in the bottles?

That toy cost me $200+. It has magnetic stirring as well as the rod and will slightly warm my vg to handle easier, etc. (NOT the nic) I thought it should have looked sleeker too, but it does what I need it to do. We'll see.
