Sounds like you figured out your issue Mattp169. Get those wraps tighter (or do a workaround and wrap on a 2.5-3mm mandrel so it springs out to 3.5-4mm).

thanks to all who checked authenticity. It seems like they have a serious english problem. the way it is worded when the number is 1st checked makes it seem that it was checked before. but i think it is just a translation issue. it is saying that NOW it has been check 1 time, because we entered the code. Instead of saying something like, this is the first time the code has been entered. Basic translation issue. So now I feel much more comfortable and dont think the one i got was a clone or something.

2nd. i figured out my ohms issue finally. the wire i ordered as 2x28/30 FUSED clapton wire is actually only single core regular clapton wire and that is why my ohms readings are so far off. I actually unwrapped it and found only one core. Now that I know that I can try this dual vertical coil build again and not go insane when it reads at 1.4 ohms lol

ill report back once i have more time to build the dual vertical and test it out

How versatile is the Merlin RTA? You can literally put anything in it. Hence the following coil for shits and giggles.

Spherical coil made with fused clapton (24g SS316L cores & 30g SS316L wrap). 0.44 ohms and yes she vapes.

No edits other than crop and watermark.

Does anyone else get a sort of leaking from under the Base? I checked my wicking etc and there's no leaks from the airflow but under the Base of the tank there always seems to be some juice. Is there a solution to this?

Read back on this thread. Lots of peeps had issues. The one fix that did work was placing the deck upside down between 2 sockets & tapping lightly with a hammer. I've tried it with 3 decks, so far so good. Other then that peeps have been contacting the vendor & having the deck replaced.

Looks cool! But looks like a lot of coil that has no wick touching it...seems like a lot of wire is just heating and not vaporizing any thing?

I have a simple single twisted Ti coil in the merlin, and it's vaping better than all my other tanks, squonkers, and drippers.
They did a great job designing the merlin, unfortunately QC let them down for many people.
I must have been lucky getting a good one.

i think the one i got is the best built tank i ever had. just the flavor is weak for me compared to my griffins regardless of the build. ill probably trade it for something else eventually. But I was highly impressed with build quality

I have 13 Merlins but have only built 6 of them so far. All have worked like a champ.

i think if you are a single coil person and thast all you use, then this is a good rta for you. more room, probably more flavor then many other single coil rtas, and you have the ability to do exotic shaped coils or dual coils when you feeling the need for more cloudz bro.

I have the same flavored juice in the 3 atty's in front of me, and they all taste different.
The aeronaut dripper is a great vape with good taste, the goon is muted, although it's still new I've only been using it a day, I hope it gets better. The merlin produces the most vapor of them all, not by much but I can notice it, even though it's the only one using TC mode, the flavor isn't very strong but I can taste it. They all have Ti coils, the goon has a dual coil.
I have many more atty's these 3 are my newest.
My favorite is the aeronaut, then the merlin, I hope the goon gets better with new coils.

Tell us more about this obsession you have with the merlin?
Are you stocking up for the vapeaggedon?

It's a fantastic MTL RTA and yes, I am preparing for 8/8.

I figure at best, gear will become more expensive, at worst, unavailable legally.

Basically, for a MTL single coil, the Merlin has outperformed and produces better flavor than my much more expensive RTAs (authentic Gem, KF4, Goblin mini,) and blows all cheaper ones away.

No it can't compete with a Griffin, Boreas, Supreme, etc. but it was not built to compete with larger double-coil RTA/RDTA

Have you tried the kf5? I hear awesome things about it. Alot of people say best single coil rta.

I bought a KF5 by SXK from Legend Gadget for $22.70. I liked it enough I have ordered 4 so far.
I saw and used an authentic of a friend of mine and I can't tell the difference except for a laser etched logo on the clone chimney vs. deeper engraving on the authentic.
He has bought 2 of the clones and said he needs to mark the authentic to tell the difference.
Excellent machining, top quality, no quirks to fiddle with and a great vape.
The draw is tighter than the Merlin when both are wide open but still plenty adequate for DTL.
The Merlin is more of a beast and better for larger exotic builds.
I have 2 of each in daily rotation and wouldn't want to be without either of them.
YMMV

1st order was 15 days from order to delivery. 2nd one was 12 days.

Thanks for the link, Doug! I ordered a KF5 clone Sunday night and by Monday morning, legendgadget has sent four emails to inform me that they got my payment and my order has shipped. Hope to get pkg in a couple of weeks.

I just got 2 more Merlins from efun, black and stainless. Both are version 2s. I love both of my v1s and couldn't survive if something happened to them. Guess I should build them to make sure everything is working as it should.

I rebuilt my SS Merlin last night with another 6x32g SS vertebraid last night. I have to say, that is a shockingly good coil. The last one lasted 2 months in my most heavily used tank and still looked fine when I removed it yesterday. For some reason the wicks last significantly longer with a vertebraid than with any other wire I've come across. Going to order another spool today just in case the government decides to tax vape wire. AVS also came out with 2x28/40g SS fused Clapton wire. Gonna have to give that a go too. It's hard to find prebuilt 316L Claptons with 40g outer wire.

I just got some AVS fused claptons with the 40g wrap. Awesome wire. It's becoming one of my favorites. You will love it.

i would also reomend the vertabraid wire form AVS as well
i felt that in the merlin as a single coil was CLOSE in flavor to a dual coil avs standard clapton in my griffin. close but not quite

So I gave into the temptation and ordered a sxk Kayfun 5. 22 bucks and change. Looking forward to it showing up.
I've had my kf5 clone (tobeco) for a few days now. Pretty damn good Atty. Better build quality than most my authentic attys.

Ok guys after about 25 mins. Of searching I found the first attempt in fixing the seeping from @dwcraig1 on page 55
Put the 3 x 1 mm o-ring into the hole in the 510 as far as it will go, place the two 2 x 1 o-rings on the exposed threads of the copper screw. It works for me.
13482933_1237999476224274_1338619212773987980_o.jpg

Start searching from page 55 forward. It should be some time after that, about using sockets to stabilize the deck. If you can't find it, from what I remember get two sockets sized so you can fit your deck into upside down being careful of the orang, just remove it while tapping, put another socket on top over the 510 pin & gently tap the circumference.

Just read forward according to @dwcraig1 it might have some effect on the leaking but he used this fix for another issue. Go to page 55 to read if interested.

I haven't tried the "...... tapping lightly with a hammer..." but what works best for me is using a large diameter coil and a lot of wick. It's easy to cut the wick too short it needs to reach the bottom of the deck. I try to keep it off of the raised part where the air hole is but fill the rest with wick. It's not 100% I still get a little seepage.

Thanks @Heartsdelight , going thru posts i found quote from Dave
////

Once I get my sockets in place I tap on the socket
The socket on the bottom has the 510 pin in the middle of the socket opening

the socket on the top of the base covers just the outer rim making sure it doesnt damage the oring or threads

And lightly tapping all around the top of the socket

So far the tank with the looser juice control seepage is down no more than a tank will sweat

The tank with the tighter juice control no leakage at all its just sweating like is normal
93 degree heat yesterday the tank did sweat but no dripping down the mod

Seems for my bases they just were not fully seated

Dont know if thats everyones problem or not
