I know this isn't a recipe, but it's about recipes. I was going to post this in general but I didn't see anything like it there, so I figured I would post here and move it if needed.

I've been curious about people's tastes for a while now regarding the recipes they use, and the newly posted recipes that they try. I notice the highest rated, most reviewed flavors are basic desserts and things you can buy from a grocery store, but don't those get old? Is there a limit to the familiar before you're sick of it?

This is how I see it, I make a banana cream custard vape, I've had it a million times as a child, I love it, my vape smells and tastes like the real thing... But now every hit is like eating a bite of banana cream custard. I vape 30 mls and ive tastes 70 banana custard cream pies in 8 hours.. How long can this last? Do you at some point decide you just want something you never thought of making because now every version of strawberry cream tastes like milky dimeatapp? Are you more willing to try a recipe that is supposed to taste like a food or beverage you've already consumed, or does a medley of foreign fruit, or bobas bounty clone catch your eye instead?

I've been vaping for about 5 and a half years now, and diy for almost two and a half and I don't know if its just my tastes changing naturally, or too many dessert juices, but honestly, if you told me you had a perfect apple pie recipe, I would probably just rather go eat a pie and vape some weird honey oak wood mts vape wizard and black tea mix instead. In fact, I might just do that.

I think it's a very individual thing -- most of us eventually get to the point that we really don't like the taste of tobacco anymore, but some still love to vape it, maybe even nothing but tobacco. Some people vape 5 flavors before breakfast, I've had the same ADV since Dec 2014... yeah I've vaped a couple other things, here and there, but I always get back to my fucking awesome strawberry & (custardy) cream. I like having a taste I can depend on -- I smoked some variation of Virginia Slims for over 30 yrs, changing only the strength. Now and then I try new recipes, primarily for things I like to eat -- vanilla wafers, chocolate cream pie, mocha hot cocoa. At some point, something may appeal to me as much as my regular strawberry, and that'll be great, but I'm happy with vape strawberry all the time, and trying something new now and then. Just... whatever floats your boat, right? :)

I wish I could stick to the same flavour profiles all the time, be easier and cheaper. I generally get bored of most recipes quite quickly. If I am searching ELR recipes now I REALLY have to search. Find so many of the most popular ones all seem to be based around tpa or cap vanilla bean ice cream, tpa cheesecake graham crust and strawberries and a lot of the popular ones understandably are from people with youtube channels (there is one on the first couple few pages by a youtube reviewer that is literally "cap lemon meringue pie" haha) or popular mixers.
The fun of diy is exactly that, doing it myself and experimenting in the main, sure I have made loads of awful recipes "Key Lime n Coke Pie" was a disaster :) but taste is subjective and we are making stuff to please ourselves and stop us smoking at the end of the day. I think its great some of the popular mixers passion, and expertise and innovation, but personally I am not a fan of people saying "you should mix this way" or "You should add that" etc etc.
One of the best bits of mixing advice I have seen, was on here by (forgot his name) the person who makes the game over custard, and it was basically "Dont ask should you do this or that, or add this or that, or will this or that work, just try it and experiment and see if it works for you". Also personally Im not just after making something that tastes authentic and just like the real thing....I would rather eat it, I just want to make a really tasty vape based around a certain thing, more botherd about it tasting nice than just like the actual thing.

I keep 4 set ups ....usually keep something fruity in one, coffee/desserts in another, one is minty/menthol or lemony, and last one usually whatever I'm mixing at the moment. I have 2 atlantis tanks, smok, and my nebox. I have many other tanks and rda's but always come back to those. My tastes changes throughout the day, and I always have something on hand.

I have 4 or 5 that I keep loaded pretty much all the time. I vape from 5-6 mods constantly so I never get tired of any one particular flavor. That being said, I do add new recipes whenever I see one that sounds good to me, and if I like it enough, it gets added to my daily rotation. FWIW, I vape mostly custards/dessert/bakery stuff. I still vape some tobacco flavors on occasion as well.

i really liked ejuices i was buying,,, strong flavored. smurfed, pina colada, jamaican rum and drunken turtle. (these are Slim's flavors).. i still love them,,but bought a huge selection of FA flavors with less than stellar results... especially with fruits. (although,, i am not really an apple fan,,i do seem to enjoy that flavor the most or equal to the peaches) i met someone who mixed up FA flavors and they told me to get out of fruit and go to something else.........ok,,, so off to IW lemon cake........very nice,,, fell in love.. so i have been making bigger and bigger batches of bakey/cookie recipes.............latest one was 600mls....loving every drop. meantime..i do keep a few 30ml diy coffee,, apple something.. and whatever hits me as pallet 'cleanser',, i do the same thing with Neat.. thats what i call my unflavored... simply 'Neat' .

i need to decide,, mix and vape all of my FA flavors,,, or see if i can trade them out for a used atty/mod...............no reason 2 unhappy people cant become 2 happy people.

I've tried several juices from slim's. I loved Drunken Turtle, the rest had to steep for months to really taste right to me.

agree,, i didn't like the smurfed at first,,,,,,,,,then after a few weeks of just avoiding it,, i found i really liked it..very fruity.
Not to derail the thread, but I had a bottle of Slim's Salted Caramel that didn't taste right until it was about 6 months old. It had a bad metallic taste up until then. I haven't ordered anything else from them. I would like to DIY Drunken Turtle one day.

I'll order a bottle and have the girlfriend put it away somewhere for me.I don't know why but I have the herpes of vape tongue. I have a apple strudel I really like that is dead on, but half a tank in, all I taste is soap. Also I think I might start trying salted flavors when I'm home too.

Some flavors/recipes I can get burnt out on, or they will taste odd or nasty after awhile.
So I never make more than 15ml of anything, and mix up many different flavors/types up all at once, just for the variety.

Hmmmm. I think everyone is different. I think the longest I vaped the same flavor was 3 days. I'm constantly mixing up something new. I have tasted some vapes that are pretty good, but have never found or made an adv for myself. I can get stuck on something and then I want something else...kinda like eating different things. I like spicy, herby, minty, boozy, fruity, bakery, vanilla, ....just no coffee or dark tobacco.

I can't vape the same flavors regularly either, usually have six-eight mods with different flavors. I like PH's idea of the off the wall types you would think might taste terrible, but end up tasting incredible.

As mentioned, it's such a subjective thing. I come from a family of foodies, and between my family and close friends lie professional chefs, junk food eating slobs, and fine food connoisseurs alike. I personally find food to be the finest luxury in life. You could offer me all the money in the world in exchange for my taste buds and I'd turn you down. I sometimes get fixed on a certain food or flavour for months on end, and often fined myself caught up in repetitive consumption of something on a daily basis. Sometimes it's as simple as a toasted sandwich, and other times it's something way more complex and time consuming to cook. So in response to the OP, a simple flavour can be enjoyed equally as much as an unorthodox and complex mix. To me the key is to keep experimenting and trying new things. Even though I get stuck on something I dig for longer than necessary sometimes, I realise that ultimately variety is the key to life. The simple things in life are often very rewardable, but equally so are life's complexities.

My tastes gave always been open, I enjoy everything, just not for long periods of time. I enjoy cocktails, straight liquor including shine, cigars, etc.. I even like tofu. But as soon as I crave something else, whatever I'm on is ruined. Lately I've been thinking about grilled chicken leftovers reheated in a skillet with pam.. I want it soo bad.

I like tofu diced, dusted with nutmeg ,paprika, chopped walnuts and covered in honey, then baked at 425 for twenty minutes, or until the outside is crispy.

I bet that dessert-tofu really is good. I've never had tofu, but I used to drink soy milk, and i was really impressed by how creamy it is. Great stuff on a bowl of cereal! However, contrary to the hype, I really couldn't tell that consuming a lot of soy helped my hot flashes one iota.

Not much helps those or night sweats. I've had luck with 400 IU Vitamin E, 400-600mg. Magnesium ( be careful and start slowly it has a laxative effect), and 1500 mg vitamin C. I still get them sometimes, esp. If I forget vitamins, but after 5 weeks I'm hardly getting them.

I don't get the night sweats too much or too heavily anymore, thank god. And I've gotten good at feeling when a hot flash is oncoming -- my ears get hot! -- so I put some cold water on my ears right away, and it mostly staves off the worst of the hot flash.

Not yet. Magnesium is working. I've heard about it though. Kinda depends on which hormones are out of whack.

Let's see now. I have been vaping a small handful of years and suddenly I am requiring higher %'s of flavoring than what I once did. Seems backwards. Perhaps I'm getting vapors tongue too.. The horror!

I've been curious about people's tastes for a while now regarding the recipes they use
While I usually have some version of strawberry/banana cream handy or steeping, it doesn't take me much to try a "what if I mix this and that, oh this too" together just to taste.
I used to buy the off-the-wall flavors until I found some can be really tough to find good pairings. Lately, I have been buying more "normal" flavors as I have forgotten how nice normal can be. I still want to try a blue cheese cheesecake that is great tasting. Yes, I do have the discontinued TFA Blue Cheese in stock and have made a few other mixes with it. 'Italian Blu' comes to mind as I shared it in the recipe section.

I too see that most people like recipes of flavors they already know. I scan the recipe section to find "normal" mixes. Sure I can make a strawberry cream mix, but not the same way twice unless I force myself. The "what if" voice pops in most of the time.

It's no worries, at least you have a place to discuss it.

I've been thinking about that lately too, I've got about 30 flavors I haven't tested yet solo and about 70 or 80 more when I get home that I'm ordering, plus I should really reevaluate my taste buds with the flavors I have notes on. Next month I think I'm just going to mix up a hundred 15ml bottles and post flavor notes on them.

True, and its hard to quit. I think vaping would have been much better, but the fact remains that the baby once born still must go through nicotine withdrawal. I quit on my last two pregnancies, but did smoke through my first and feel terrible that I did and couldn't quit, but thank goodness she was fine, but extremely collicy. I think if the pregnant woman's spouse or partner quit with her during the pregnancy it would help, but they might be at each other's throats for a while through the withdrawal.

I have never Skyped. I know you click on the application and load it, but think you gotta give one another your screen names. If others can do it, I'm sure I can figure it out.

My husband quit smoking decades before I ever knew him. I dunno what drugs y'all's docs were giving you, but getting pregnant does not impart some magical ability to not smoke. Even with the nausea, I was only able to go from 2pks a day to 3-4 cigs a day. My son was born 4 days past his due date, almost 8 lbs. I'm not saying I think smoking during pregnancy is a great idea, but I think the hazards of it, like all the hazards of smoking, are GREATLY overstated by "public health" -- just more control-freak stuff, to get everyone to fall in line with The New World Order.

And I think a woman who smokes would do both herself and her child a great service by switching to vaping -- with or without nicotine, it's 95% better than continuing to smoke.

I can't say anything about it since I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever been pregnant, but I just don't see any benefit to smoking while pregnant except as a stress reliever. But that's just how I am, for instance I love cocktails, beer, all forms of whiskey, wine, etc.. But I just up and quit drinking because there was no benefit for me in the short or long run.

I also agree vaping would be a better alternative for a pregnant woman than analogs, but I still don't want to see a group of them in a cloud competition infront of a lamaze class, just like I don't want to see a NASCAR driver playing pokemon go at 180mph.. Ok, I sort of want to see that. But you get my point.

Yes I do. But the point I was making is not about benefit while pregnant... it's that addictions don't just miraculously cease just because there's a bun in the oven, and considering all the other discomforts of pregnancy -- and there are SCADS -- that particular one is a bit much to deal with. As I said, I went from 2pks a day to 2-4 cigarettes a day, while pregnant, purely because of the nausea. But I can tell you for a fact that if the nausea had been worse, if I'd suffered the hyperemesis that my mom suffered while pregnant with me, I'd have had an abortion, no question about that at all. The person doing the gestating has needs too, and they don't go into suspended animation while the gestation is going on, nor does emetophobia disappear.

That's not such a big thing. I'd far rather die than endure the emesis that chemotherapy would cause, so if I ever get cancer, that's it for me. NOTHING is worth having to vomit, even once. I recognize that that's irrational, and that is the nature of phobia -- irrational fear.

No I get the addiction part, and I know it doesn't go away but I'm saying If someone is pregnant and they need to vape, I would rather see then with a little constraint about it. When I lived in Vegas I saw too many stupid ass girls six months pregnant getting drunk at clubs, at EDC, generally doing things that made me pity that unborn child.

Not saying vaping is anything like that, but whether there are side effects for the child or not, they most likely aren't good.
