Noisy cricket, crazy friend

Just got my cricket and i love it. Running 26 kanthal parallel at 3mm and 9 wraps. It works but i want much bigger clouds. Got a buddy that runs 8 wrap 20g kanthall at 3mm.......that seems terrifyingly low to me. Any other simple coil options out there? I'm running a goon if that matters

For Series I HIGHLY Suggest using KA1 Cores.
Thanks for the Shoutout @inspects !
2x28KA1/40N80 fused Claptons (7 Wraps/3mm ID @ .38 Ohms) is one of my favorite Series builds.
Haha, this is pretty much exactly my go-to. No lie. Dual fused 28KA1/38KD. Same wrap-count/ID and everything. Crazy amounts of packed-in vapor, very responsive and manageable heating curve, tons of flavor and texture... ...big, taffy-like clouds that plunge menacingly out of the air. Fills out airy, big-chamber RDA's with ease - when I say "packed-in" I mean it literally feels like the vapor is packed into the atty. Great match for the Goon. I run mine in the TM v1 as well as my Mutation X v3 and v4.

Take the man's advice. It's a really good build if you're into full-on cloud vapes that don't compromise on anything else (smoothness, body, flavor...)

Yer buddy's build is probably okay, though it's skirting the limit... ...if it's a single. If it's a dual, wayy to much power for the mass, not to mention stupid-high current. There's no way that performs as well as it could. The build above probably performs markedly better while still being a more enjoyable vape. Just my two cents on that.

Finer-gauge claptons tend to outperform thick-ass bare wire in series. Makes it easier to match the surface area to the extra power (which is 4 times the power of the same build on a 4.2v mech per ohm.) It's twofold - you bring down the current and elevate the mass to strike a better balance. Most bare coils are overpowered by comparison. Things like parallels and standard thick-wire builds are kind of overkill. You either end up with a build that's too small and scorching, or a giant build that's slow, holds on to too much heat, and is scorching.

Something that heats up quickly AND cools down quickly tends to work-out better. Play around with different clapton builds using thinner wire. Ultra-fine outers, always. 36g-40g. Don't be afraid to make em big... ...bigger than you would usually make a fat, bare-wire build for any other device. Consider that a .4 gives you ~160w.

If you want something a little simpler, single core claptons are great, too. I like dual 27/38 kanthal claptons at around .7. Generally 2.5mm ID. 28/36 is good in that range, too. Might be a little underwhelming in the goon, though. I remember doing a 10-wrap dual 24/40 that was pretty cloudalicious in the troll. 3mm IIRC. 1/8" at the most.
