Yes, I wicked it EXACTLY how MikeVapes wicks his in his video.

Yes, I am closing off the airflow before I fill.

After I fill, I see a LITTLE juice in the air holes, and I just give it a quick dry puff to suck up the juice.

From there, it will leak a fair amount until I start vaping on it and then it stops.

What am I doing wrong?

The wicking is fairly sensitive. All four of the juice holes need to be completely covered, ideally with a small bulge of cotton sticking out.

I've had better luck by not cutting the wick tails as close as possible like in the Mike Vapes video. Instead, I cut it with around 7 mm - 15 mm of the tail sticking out, depending on the diameter of my coils. For small 2 mm coils, I cut the tails to around 15 mm. For 2.5 mm coils, I cut to around 10 mm. And for 3 mm coils, I cut the tails to around 7 mm. Then with a narrow and very thin tip flathead screwdriver (3 mm wide and < 1 mm thick), I push the excess inside and upwards towards the juice holes. Usually this is enough to get the juice holes completely covered, but sometimes I also need to push the wick around a bit from the inside of the deck after it is mounted to the base. I use a piece of 22 gauge wire for this, and gently push and poke the wick to press it up solidly against the juice holes.

After figuring out this wicking technique, I have not had a single drop leak from any build.
