Hi, I'm a noob and recently bought this wick from fasttech. Whats the best way to use it, do I peal off the outer layer?

It looks like something from the dentist.

Might as well give those to your wife, girlfriend, mother, or any make-up user you know..... To use those you would peel off bothh face pads and use the center fluff. Regular cotton ball would be as good and easier.

I've tried cotton balls and they're a pain in the ass, Koh gen Do is much easier to work with and it wicks incredibly well.

I've also used Cotton Bacon and many other Vape specific cotton an my go to is Koh gen Do.

They do tend to require bit of prep. But you can't beat $1 every year or so.

Every 3 months or so; Grab handful from wifes bag, boil 2x water changes, Dry, stick in baggie. Every week or so take 1 ball and unroll it. As needed tear off enough for wick, stick through coils, add juice and vape. I generally have 2 tanks running at a time and rewick them every other day or so. Suggest short pulls if unregulated or low power for first few hits regulated, to break in coil.

FWIW I have used all kinds of cotton.. Yes pads CAN be easier to use. Bt for me cotton is cotton.

Best is more about HOW you wick the coil than what you use.

Like I said, too much of a pain in the ass, $11 for 80 large pads of Koh gen Do which will last over a year or more not worth the hassle of boiling and funkiness of messing with cotton balls.

If the best is the question I say skip the cotton and go Rayon...... It just performs better than cotton. Still not as easy to use out of the box as pads, though.

As I said I boil ALL cotton before using it as wick. For me the only advantage of pads is they are easier to estimate the correct amount to use at a time. Balls are less consistent, rayon has this same issue. Flat machine oriented pads vs ginned and rolled fluff has obvious measurement advantages there.

IMO the best wick to vape off is Silica, followed closely by stainless... But these materials are very limited in the applications they can be used, effectively.

Meh, not impressed with Rayon,Koh gen Do is the best I've found. Premium Vape cotton I like Native Wicks Platinum. I've even tried Hemp fiber, not bad for RDA'S but too much a pain in the ass.

Silica, won't try it for I'm not keen with inhaling silica dust. I run Mech's so I won't even try SS mesh.

Koh gen Do is perfect for me, natural, organic, wicks wonderfully, no nasty break in period, very easy to use and damn cheap.

If you like F5 Supima Cotton and also like Cotton Bacon try Native Wicks platinum blend. It's Supima cotton that they process like Cotton Bacon.

Koh gen Do is my go to, cut the right size strip, fluff it Scottish Roll method and it works great. $11 for 80 large pads on Amazon, I've yet to find anything better.

I use cotton bacon. Nothing to peel off so no waste, and if you pull to much off, you can pull some off that and put it away for later. Just add it if you pull off to little or get 2 skinny strands. I can usually get 4 wicks from one length. I use the ends i clip in my kanger toptank mini rba. They are just the right length. .. and I am cheap. LOL

Just cut off what you need from the pad.
10x the price of Koh gen Do is not being cheap ;)

Yeah, but i like it. Tried the koh gen do. It's just as good. I just prefer to work with the cotton bacon.
No worries, use what works for you and what you like. I just thought it a bit funny you were saying you were being cheap using Cotton Bacon ;)

Is it super tight when you pull it through the coil. I'm still learning, I've been trying to get it perfect but keep getting dry hits on my griffin 25.

No, Im cheap bc i save the bits of cotton bacon. But like i said, that 1 inch piece left over just nicely wicks my single coil tank.

use a little less. Ideally, you should be able to drag your mod across the table, but not pick it up by the wick. eventually, you will just go by feel.

if the cotton is too tightly wicked it won't wick the juice through the coil properly and you get dry hits, too little and it won't wick fast enough and you get dry hits, cotton swells a bit when wet
