Hey peeps - the drama continues, batteries now.

I noticed that i tore the wrapping a little when taking it out of my mod. It seems that just the top wrapping tore and the plastic underneath is still in tact.

Is it still safe to use?

Ive seen and heard the horror stories and as much as id like an award I'd rather avoid a Darwin if possible

Included a pic, hopefully you can see the 2nd layer of wrapping is still there.

Thanks as always.

Edit - i know MXJO are not the best, i am ordering a some samsung but good to know if i can still use these in the meantime.

The wrap serves as an insulator and the top part is is the the part that it's most important to insulate, but according to the image there is no exposed metal.

So you can either replace the wrap, replace the battery or leave it the way it is and hope for the best (though a few bucks are not worth the risk IMO)

Me personally I would not use it.
I have 6 that look similar that I have pulled from the rotation and they await me to rewrap them.
It is difficult to tell but when I looked at the picture it appeared on the left edge there was bare metal.
If that is the case, I'd definitely not use it.
Under that yellow wrap on the top center part is just a disc, not a secondary full wrap.
I suppose you could put a piece of tape on it to get you by but if you have extras, I'd definitely put it aside and then order more.
I'd compare batteries to the tires on your car.
That one my friend is bald and showing cords, time to retread or rewrap.

Thanks both

There is no metal exposed - it was just the reflection of the light. That black ring around the positive conector is also a wrapping so it really looks ok. I will order a couple more in case but there is absolutely no exposed metal here. Ive looked really closely.
