E-cigs, and batteries are NOT Allowed in bags checked in only liquid. You can carry on E-Cigs, and batteries, but the bats must be contained in a protective case. Internal battery mods no issues.

For carry on liquids:
Liquids, gels, and aerosols must be in containers that are 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or smaller. Note that larger, half-full containers are not allowed.

The 3.4 ounce or smaller containers must be placed in a quart-size, zip-top clear plastic bag.

Only 1 clear plastic quart-size bag is allowed per traveler and must be placed in the security bin separate from your carry-on at the checkpoint.

Yeah you have to take it on plane with you, just keep your mod and Atty separate and juice in a zip lock bag, I will warn you to take an RDA and drain your tanks, they will leak from the pressure.

Just came back recently from flying cross country, and out of the country with no problems if you adhere to the above what I posted. Used American, and United airlines out of Newark NJ, Philadelphia PA, Las Vegas McCarren airport, and Mexico. .

Are the cases plastic that hold 1 or 2 batteries or just a zip up little case? And do they need to be separated from each other in same case

They can not touch each other. Plastic Bat cases come in all sizes to hold one, two, four etc in place without moving around.

You can even use a plastic prescription pill bottle to hold one bat each, and your pharmacy can sell you them. Just make sure it is tall enough.

My tank did not leak, just take it off, and put it in the bag with the liquids. Vaped on the plane in the bathroom with no problem or detection. Exhale into a wet paper towel hard, and your good.

Not had a problem in Australia on domestic flights as hand luggage. Don't fly o/s prefer cruise ships, so can't answer the rest. Samsung phone users might have some fun though

I flew United in August and took with me the following:
10 bottles of 30ml juice
8 sets of batteries, 6 pairs were in the dual 18650 plastic cases, 4 batteries were in separate zip lock bags and I used electrical tape to cover the ends.
6 mods
9 tanks
7 boxes of coils
Since one of my layovers was 6 hours long (Chicago) I went outside 3 times to vape.
Each time I carried a mod, a 30ml bottle of juice, a tank, and a pair of batteries in the plastic case previously mentioned.
All were separate.
On the way out there was no concern.
Since each time I returned I had to go back through the security check I ensured my tank was empty and everything was back to being separated.

I carried all of this in my laptop bag (no laptop included)
When I ran this through the check at each airport I was concerned I'd catch hell for being excessively over the max amount of liquid PER PERSON.
No one said anything.
If you check on the FAA site as well as whatever airline you take you'll find the MAX amount of liquid you can take.
This includes soap, shampoo, and such.
I chose to take no other liquids and just buy some when I got to my destination.
(Black Hills South Dakota)
While I was breaking the regulations due to the amount of liquid I was taking I was indeed prepared for them to confiscate it.
Since I DIY I wasn't overly concerned other than I wasn't certain I'd be able to buy any once I got there if they had taken it.
Fortunately for me, no one seemed to care.

The Apple iPhone 3GS had a similar explosion problem, and was the big worry about the bending iPhone 6's causing damage to the battery pack. Samsung has sold over 300 million smartphones, with less than 100 units of a single model having problems, and that doesn't include the millions of tablets they've sold with no problems. Reading many of the media stories written by apple fanboys & girls, you'd think all Samsung devices are potential bombs. There's been a few exploding iPhone 6's reported, but doesn't get the media attention.

from my experience flying throughout the middle east here is a rundown on their policies
Afghanistan - they don't care just explain it to their agents
Kuwaitt - usually don't care but if the guy is smart he will cherry pick a mod to "confiscate"
Iraq - they don't care just explain it
UAE - they take EVERYTHING away (lost about 2k worth of gear and all my batteries and its a bitch finding someone to ship to an APO which is mind boggling as you can get HGH/PEDs shipped here but not batteries...mind blown)

Other than that take everything on your carry on you'll be good...I hate going through Dubai but its the quickest way out of my location...so I mail everything home...going to see if I can get the new Eleaf icare through their customs on my R&R.

Next time you're stateside, buy a couple cheap 18650 flashlights and put your vape batteries in them. I wouldn't think they'd confiscate those.

I'm flying to Aruba next month. I didn't know you had to separate everything! My neighbor flew from NJ to Chicago, had his Vaporesso Target mini in his pocket, just dropped it in the bin with his keys going through security and no problems.
Am I not allowed to put juice in my checked baggage? I figured I'd just have a full tank on me and pack the rest so I don't have to worry about the 3.4 oz thing.

You can put as much juice in your checked baggage as you want. I usually take two or three 120ml bottles while going on vacation for a couple weeks. I also carry-on a couple 30ml bottles in the event my luggage is lost for a few days.

A bit of advise. wrap each bottle in a ziplock, and all of those together in another ziplock, so you don't end up with juiced clothes.

I've traveled many times with vape stuff. Put all of it in your carry on and you won't have any problems. I usually carry 30 ml bottles with me so they are far under the size of liquids in your carry on. No batteries allowed in checked bags. No problem though you'd rather have them with you to take a few "sneak" vapes somewhere lol. I take my tanks off and put them in plastic ziplock bags. They've leaked on me every time because of the change in pressure and altitude. Next week I have to go to Florida for work and I will do as I always do. Last time I vaped right at the table where I had my coffee in the terminal. It was quiet and not many people so I kind of just blew it under the table at the ground lol. Left a small fog when I got up and left.

Thank you both. Do I have to disassemble my Smok Alien? Someone said tanks have to be empty, batteries out of the device. I can't recall if that was an older thread. I do have a nice-sized vape bag from VaporFi, I can take everything apart and fit most of it in there and stick in my carry-on, tanks empty if needed. I have my tiny Juul for sneaking vapes, so that's not an issue.)

I just took the tank off. Left the batteries in the mod. Probably better to take them out though wouldn't want it accidentally turning on if it gets squashed against something

And if you go with a low watt, high(er) PG juice (a little more nic in it helps) you can stealth vape while traveling with barely even a cloud to notice. I rely on my AIO Plato for that as the tank is internal and looks like just a piece of electronics gear, not even vape gear. I've flown with it containing juice, just threw it in the plastic bucket with my wallet, keys, and phone. Not a peep from anyone through the xray machine. I even used it on an open train platform not more than 10 feet from a police officer (OK, I thought I had looked around first) and not even a second glance. No worries even in hotel rooms of setting off smoke alarms with that low cloud setup.

For my OWN safety, all my extra batteries are in either a hard plastic box, or at least a silicone sleeve and secured somewhere in my carry on. I don't want one of my batteries accidentally shorting while in flight. Oh, and I do keep my liquids in a ziploc with me as one, I don't travel with that much juice (I only use at most 5-7 ml a day, even less if in high nic mtl mode), two, I hate the idea of a potential spill in my clothing bag, and three, I try to avoid checking bags while traveling anyway.

I've tried to gauge the amount of liquid I use per day. I have a handful of mods I use so it's hard to figure out. I've told myself I'll ONLY use one or two, fill them up in the morning, then halfway through the day I find myself vaping on another setup, lol. I'd guess it's 5-7 as well, tops, yet I do vape more when I'm outside. I have my Juul still so that's my "pocket" vape for the airport/air flight. If I hold it in longer, I'll barely blow out any vape. Now, I haven't even packed for my trip and my biggest decision is what device and juice flavors to bring, whether my carry-on is suitable for fitting my Kindle, vape gear, and liquid items. I haven't given my clothing much thought, LOL!!
I am checking luggage, though, have to.
I'm thinking my batteries, I'll just bring the Alien and four bats (it takes two), a couple tanks, my IJust2 and Target mini and have my chargers.

Nice find. Good to have it broken down and explained. Limited to two spares of 100 amp hours each. A Samsung 30q is 11.1 amp hours, so 18650's are no problem to carry-on as long as they are in plastic cases.

I have a vape bag inside my suitcase which gets checked in. It has a few mods, a few spare atomizers, wire, cotton, Juice, etc.. but no batteries. I put a luggage tag on it plainly stating "this bag contains no batteries", in case they want to look. A spare noisy cricket and a tube mod, I leave the buttons off so if they look, they can see real quick there are no batteries. I've arrived home a few times to see a TSA card inside my suitcase saying the suitcase was inspected, but never had a problem with them confiscating any vape equipment.

I did see in the pdf file they say "external chargers are also considered to be a battery", which is a bit strange. Maybe they are thinking a battery pack with a built in usb port to charge the pack? don't know.

Good idea. Thanks. I don't have too much stuff to bring, so I'll probably just carry it on. I think the external battery chargers do mean the power packs. That's how I took it to mean. I didn't realize the 18650s are limited to two spares for each device. So I can leave bats in the Alien, then two spares? I just received these: 18650 2500mAh 35A High Drain Rechargeable Li-ion Battery- LGDBHE418650
Does the formula means I can still have two in my mod and two spares?

Yes, I would leave the two batteries in the mod and take two more in a plastic case for spares. I carry a nitecore UM-20 usb charger for the 18650's as well.

They have to be talking about battery packs when they say 100 amp hours. The formula is (for your LG's), 2500mAh divided by 1000 = 2.5.. 2.5 X 3.7volts = 9.25amp hours. Nominal voltage for 18650, 18350, 26650, 14500, etc.. is 3.7volts, even though they charge to 4.2v.

I believe those 100 Ah types of rules came about from the spontaneously combusting hoverboard issue. Those things had large Lipo batteries that weren't exactly of the highest quality. I would truly doubt a TSA agent would, or even could, calculate the total amp hours on several 18650s in cases. I also have a little 2 cell Nitecore I2 which is perfect for charging while traveling, along with a ~12,000 mAh battery brick I originally got for my phone and tablet if I didn't have access to AC. Also never drew a second look on that going through the xray machine either.

A Juul or other pod can also be handy for travel. The whole way I personally started vaping was using a Vuse while traveling and hoping it would fill in for a cigarette during longer trips. After a week of using that over last Thanksgiving, I found my self off cigarettes. I always wanted to stop, just never found anything that worked. After a few months with Vuse I decided to check vaping out a bit more and have been vaping ever since. I recently tried a Vuse cartridge again last summer before a trip ,thinking it easier than packing vape gear, and that thing was wicked bad. No way I could go back to that after a proper vape. But these new pods seem a lot different, especially the refillables.

I just travelled to Boca Sunday. Did like I always did. Everything in the carry on. Put the tanks in a Ziploc and closed off the airflow holes. No surprise they leaked lol. I always put any liquids in ziplocks or even my shampoo and stuff that goes in my checked bag I get mailing tape and go over the lids with it. Why risk something opening up and ruining your clothes. I did take my mech mod and blew some clouds in the airport bathroom lol.
