I got some cellucotton (rayon) in the mail yesterday. It seem to wick well but tasted terrible. I've read that people don't boil it, but I'm going to boil it tonight to see if I can get that taste out. Other than that I stick with organic cotton or steel rope/ mesh in my RSST.

Organic cotton. You can get a bag of 100 for just a couple bucks at most pharmacies.

Publix brand cotton balls. Boiling this just once for 30 is not enough to get 100% of the taste out of it. In case anyone else uses it also.

Yeah that cellucotton doesn't taste great right off that bat... But mine goes away after about 4-5 pulls. I don't notice much of a difference between it and organic balls honestly. It's in nice straight linear fashion already... So that's a plus. ; )

+1,000,000 on the READYxWICK! We build/rebuild all our Davide Glassomizer heads, and they ROCK with READYxWICK! The flavors come through amazingly; it wick an increadible amount of juice (= clouds of vapor); it *never* scorches, and it can be re-used 'forever' with care.

See to me, if a buddy gave me hemp fiber that he said he'd "processed," i would automatically assume that meant he'd beaten off into it or done something similarly gross with it.

Cotton cheese cloth wrapped around peaches and cream organic cotton core. Working really well and wicks a good amount of e-liquid.

On the plus side, you wouldn't have to be concerned with any artificial dyes, flavors or coloring.

At least that'd be organic! Just... to an extreme i would not personally be comfortable with. Maybe in my younger, more adventurous days.

Aye. More than likely, it would involve some sort of hemp usage as well. Quite a sticky wicky upper!

That's one of the reasons why i would assume the result!
  1. Get super baked
  2. Masturbate
  3. Clean up
  4. Oops! That was... aw, crap.
  5. Give to friend. Say it was "processed."

I just recently bought a huge box of CelluCotton Rayon coil, and boiled a small bit of it. Been using that, and I LOVE the way it wicks, but it's tricky to get used to wicking with it. It's way different than cotton or silica. Overall, I must say that I'll never go back to the others. (Possibly because I bought 500ft of it, LoL)

I have been using Ramie fiber for a bit now.

The stuff wicks like crazy, has no taste of its own as far as I can tell and the heat generated from the coil just does not seem to burn it.

Are you saying you can get your coils red-hot without burning the wicking medium? Because if so, my 500ft box of Rayon may get thrown out. LoL

Good question.

I have not tried that quite yet. But since you gave me the idea I will.

As we all know, coils tend to gunk up and need a dry burn from time to time.

As a habit, I just go ahead and replace the Ramie wick at the same time.

However, I have made a point of removing the wick carefully from the coil prior to dry burning.

Absolutely no discoloration of the wick that was inside of the coil or any indication of burnt fibers at all.

The stuff wicks like crazy and less is more.

Heck you can even change out flavors if you drain the tank portion without touching the chimney assembly and in a couple of drags it is 100% the new flavor.

This trick does not work with the really strong flavors like Fluid for example.

Duhh

I tried doing that but once you have had Pluid in a wick even with this it takes about 1/8th of a tank to get the new flavor.

I'm very interested in the results of this test. No pressure, but the sooner you find out, the sooner I can begin procuring some. Thanks for the info, and the quick response. +1

No problem at all.

I am actually thinking about the need to build a fresh coil tomorrow and will try it.

The dry burn will take care of the gunk on the outside of the coil but how could it get rid of the gunk on the inside with the wick still in it?

Not like I can blow the residue out.

But what the heck, anything for the vaping community and of course I will share.

Not to mention the stuff is really inexpensive even for a cheap bastard like me!

Most of the results I found on google were for clothes, but I was able to find some at paradisefibers.com, do you have a better site for purchasing some? Even if it doesn't stand the dry coil test, I'm very interested in this. Does it shrink when drying up, like Rayon does? I would assume not, since you said the wick had no discoloration.

Nope, it does not seem to shrink.

Here is where I got mine from.

http://www.woolery.com/store/pc/Ramie-Top-8oz-China-Grass-p901.htm#details

Nice folks to deal with and they send you a LOT!

A full size bag of cotton balls weighs in at 0.16 oz. This is for 8oz.

And if you care to do the math, you can order twice the amount for the same price as the minimum order from the other place.

If you decide to place an order in the comment section tell them to let Nancy know that the E-Cig guy from Ohio sent you there.

At ParadiseFibers, I see 8oz for $17.68, and the same 8oz is $15.00 at Woolery. Not quite half the price, but savings are savings. Have you boiled it, or did it come good-to-go right out of the bag?

I am inclined to think that you can use it once you get it.

The color of the fiber is a bright white by nature.

But better safe than sorry so I boil it just to be sure.

It comes in long fluffy strands so I just take one, cut off about 2" of it, put a clamp on each end and boil it for about a minute.

Blot it dry, and place in a toaster oven on a very low setting for about 20 minutes and it is now dry and ready to use.

Install in the coil in the same way as you would cotton.

And I would personally appreciate it if you purchased from The Woolery.

Nancy was quite helpful even if she was kinda "iffish" about selling something for a use they never intended to sell it for.

Don't you think they deserve a small payout from the vaping community as well?

I definitely will be purchasing from them, even if it *wasn't* a savings. Building camaraderie for the vaping community is what I'm all about. So many people stop me to ask me about my mod, and I love answering all their questions. And yes, any company that will support the vaping community deserves recognition and business. I'll make sure to leave a comment letting them know word-of-mouth generated revenue for them.

Are you beginning to feel like we hijacked this thread? LoL

Thanks for your support for the company that was kind enough to help me out with a sample and answering a lot of stupid questions.

Hijacked no.

Totally in tune with the subject at hand yes

IMHO, this is really good stuff

And I am just glad I found it.

I truly believe that you will embrace and support this product as I do.

Like I have said in another place on this forum, while I belong to a few forums, I use the same user ID in all of them.

That being said, I take great care before endorsing ANYTHING!

And for the record, I AM TOTALLY AGAINST ANY CLEAROMIZER STARTING WITH CE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But Ramie Fiber AM MOST GOOD!

Cellucotton all day long. The stuff is amazing.

Ive been using Koh Gen Do and sugar n cream cotton for quite awhile now, but since I'm deeply disappointed in cotton I want to try something else. Maybe I'll try the celucotton, I hope it doesn't turn out to be as overrated as cotton. Right now im even ignoring my RDAs and just using my protanks with stock silica heads and my old Aspire because I get better flavor with silica.

cellucotton for last week. had been using organic cotton. cellucotton holds more liquid. also, you can use more rayon than cotton without causing liquid to be constricted. fairly sure I will be using the cellucotton from now on. I got the small box (40ft). its like a tissue box so very handy for pulling out an inch at a time.

Like I said, this stuff is great!

But just so you know, it does not hold liquid and store it like cotton does.

It just wicks like crazy! I have not gotten a dry hit yet as long as the stuff is in contact with liquid.

I have never used it in an RBA but it I did, I would have the Ramie in the coil surrounded by cotton to act as a reservoir.

Please let me know when you get it and what you think about it!

seems like quite a few different opinions on the cellucotton. Some people saying it tastes horrible and other's don't seem to think that at all. Is there a brand that seems to be better then others? Or just buy whatever is available?
