How to Vape My Plume Veil

Hey all,

I just got my plume veil clone which is my first dripper. I am using a dual coil 28 gauge at .7 ohms. I notice a taste improvement over my orchid clone, however I was expecting more vapor production. I am using kago cotton for the wick and have about an inch on each coil. I tuck both ends under the coil and placed a small extra bit behind the coil.

Any advice on how to get more vapor production on this? Any recommended youtube videos?

Edit: Also, I have full airflow going on right now. Vaping at 30 watts.

Vg content? Watts? Also, if you plan on vaping at .7 ohms, I would strongly consider going with a lower resistance wire at fewer wraps. A great many who drip at .7 and less go with 24g or 26g. The secret to plumes above what you are already doing is heat and high VG.

Vaping at 30 watts with a 50/50. Gonna get some 70/30 next week. The only gauge I have is 28 and 24. How many wraps would you recommend with the 24? Last time I tried dual coil at 6 wraps and it took forever to heat up.

6 per coil with 2mm legs (this assuming you are winding on a 4mm diametre post of some sort.

6 per coil with 2mm legs....based on a 4mm inside coil diametre (standard jeweler's screwdriver shaft)

I was just reminded when building with the 24 gauge, I'm using a cana DNA30 mod that has a low range of .5 ohms. Am I SoL without a mech mod?

Mech's will go as low as you dare.....but so will regulated mods with the Yihi SX330 or greater. For example the IPV3 and the Sigelei 100w. As for the Evolv DNA chips, I have no idea due to my general dislike for them.

Edit: The Yihi sx330 goes down to .3ohm
sx350 goes down to .15ohm and is upgradeable via the internet (when available)

The DNA 30 is shit
DNA 40 goes down to .16 with Kanthal
.10 with Nichrome plus a lot of nonsense that can be read about in other threads here.
DNA chips are not firmware upgradeable.

Most of the Cana/Chana etc Box mods Carry Cloupor DNA Boards!

Well until I get a mod that can handle the 24 gauge, I am using a 10 wrap 28 gauge dual coil which is working better. Ordered some 26 gauge for later.

Thanks for the advice.

ehm...all mods can handle 24 gauge. There is no rule that dictates to what resistance you build it to. In the meantime, enjoy your vape! :)

Just meant that if I build over .5 resistance, it will take to long to heat to be worth building. Then again, my experience with 24 gauge is very limited.

24 gauge, 4-5 wraps verticals, legs as short as possible, airholes wide open and you should be good to go. Ohms should be around 0.2 if i remember correctly, depending on the overall quality of your clone, coils and connection. Get a good mech, good batteries and some knowledge about ohms and resistance.

Thicker wire equals lower resistance.
More wraps equals more resistance.
Lower wraps equals more heat, but more wraps equals more surface area.

This is an art, really. Just go ahead, try different things, perfect your skills and enjoy experimenting :)

Thanks Rommel. I'm familiar with Ohms and wires gauge results, just not experienced with how quickly 30 watts heats 24 gauge. I noticed you recommended vertical coils. Do they work better in the Plume Veil even with the horizontal posts?

Some thoughts, I vape .7 or .8ohm 28guage, Japanese cotton. 8 or 9 wraps on a 3/32 drill bit per coil, dual coil build. Clouds for days. I mix my own juice now, usually around 60/40 VG/PG ( it's a flavor thing ). Air flow is also a consideration for vapor, just sayin'. Also I use a mech for dripping and VV/VW for tanks ect. Another thing is that I have been just doing vertical coils lately, heats up fast, cotton wicks fantastically. Also, you want to stop putting extra cotton behind your coils, just tuck it under and push it back to the posts and leave an air space below your coils. decent wicking vid HERE:
, just substitute Japanese cotton for cotton balls.

I use 26-28awg.. single or dual coils... lately I've been using twisted&pressed round kanthal..I typically only use a ~2mm ID.

Steam engine, vaper's toolbox, and a few other applications and websites offer formulas that let you input your variables for coils/battery safety - wire type&gauge, inner diameter, target resistance, etc...

I like a pair of nice long legs just like any lad.....but those....ehm......why?

Airflow, personal preference, cuz negative airflow doesn't work worth a shit.. I'm sure I have a few more.

And proper wicking of course but VG content makes a huge difference as you said , my main importance is taste , thats the only reason i use dripper's , vapor production is way down the list for me but if i'm getting pristine taste all is good.
