I participated in this CTA, by using my parents' address (they live in that town/county). I received the most ridiculous reply, I thought I should post it here, as well as my point-by-point rebuttal -- however, given the forum's rules, I don't think I can actually post THEIR email to me, but only my reply to them.

This is my email rebuttal:

Here is my rebuttal of every one of your points, but to be honest, I'm not sure it's really worth the effort; you seem to have totally made up your mind on the subject, using only extremely biased "reports" from extremely biased sources. I can only conclude that you have never smoked nor felt compelled to continue a habit that would most likely shorten your life severely, simply because quitting that habit was so horribly painful, it simply couldn't be tolerated -- or perhaps you've never lost a family member or other loved one who was hopelessly addicted to smoking.

So, however useless it may be, I will simply make these points:

1. If a vape shop is properly ventilated, why does vape or the product that comes from the pipe, soar out the door when the shop is opened?

It is VAPOR -- do you feel equally threatened by a steaming kettle, or hot showers? The ENTIRE POINT of visible vapor is to make it as close to the smoking experience as possible, for those struggling to give up that godawful habit -- that does NOT mean that the visible vapor is as dangerous as smoke; FAR from it, in fact. If you do intend to "do your homework," you should be reading what Public Health England and the Royal College of Physicians have to say about vaping -- that it CANNOT exceed 5% of the danger of smoking, and in fact, it's probably much less than that. What the FDA and CDC are saying doesn't have one iota to do with health, but EVERYTHING to do with the extremely lucrative tobacco, stop-smoking, and tobacco-related-disease markets, since vaping completely replaces smoking. Lots of money to be made on patches, gum, etc, not to mention the very expensive cancer and COPD medications -- they certainly don't want that golden goose killed. Then there's all that Master Settlement Agreement money -- Georgia is NOT one of those idiotic states who have sold bonds against that money, and thus has little financial incentive to hinder vaping -- so what is your excuse?

2. How do you combat or dispel the data about the Made in China e-cigarettes that are said to be breaking about and sending metal to people's brains causing brain damage according to reputable resources.

Those are NOT "reputable sources," because that is a complete fabrication. ABSOLUTE fabrication. If people were REALLY suffering from vaping in that way, the market would not be growing by leaps and bounds. You really need to get some real facts, and not this ridiculous "vaping is the boogeyman" hype.

These should get you started, if you really intend to "do your homework":

3. If vaping is for adults why is the marketing of vaping liquids triggered toward teenagers with names like cotton candy and bubble gum? Some of the packaging is the same.

So, you don't like cotton candy or bubble gum? You don't know a single adult who enjoys sweets? You don't think that maybe those things taste a whole lot better than STINKWEED? The fact is that once a smoker transitions away from e-liquids that somewhat resemble the taste of tobacco, to something a whole lot better tasting, that is one more bulwark against succumbing once again to smoking -- once you lose the acquired-taste for tobacco, you realize how awful it really tastes.

4. If vaping is targeted toward adults why has the average age of the user dropped significantly and they are being used, without permission, all over the high schools?

Because kids want to do anything new, novel, different, and if it bothers adults, that makes it that much more attractive to them -- the percentage of kids SMOKING is dropping drastically, or hadn't you noticed that? Probably not, since the CDC sees fit to slant every bit of "research" which actually shows that. But the numbers of young people smoking is currently lower than it has EVER been, since they started measuring such things -- maybe it's because, like adults, they're vaping instead? Cigarettes will addict and ultimately kill them -- vaping will NOT.

5. If vaping is used primarily to help people quit smoking tobacco, why is there "illegal drug" paraphernalia being sold in the vape shops and why does vaping allure that same clientele?

I'd say it's most likely because, if people like YOU get your way, that may soon be the only possible place to buy vape gear, so those shops are trying to make it known that hey, we have vape gear here -- so that once all the vape-only stores are closed (thanks to the FDA and people like YOU), people will know where they can find vape gear.

If you really want to "protect young brains" as you claim, then you need to back off, and leave vaping completely alone. Most young people who vape don't use nicotine, did you know that? Probably not, because once again, you're most likely looking at what the very-biased CDC has to say. Those young people who DO vape with nicotine, are mostly those who want to QUIT SMOKING -- just like adults.

Every single thing that you do to hinder vaping is just HELPING the tobacco market -- smoking is EASY, available, and makes loads of money for ALL of those who claim to want to stamp it out. Vaping is the first thing to come along that can actually make that possible -- and you want to throw roadblocks at it.

I smoked for THIRTY-NINE YEARS, trying four times to quit -- nothing worked AT ALL, until I started vaping. Once I started vaping regularly, within one month, smoking was GONE... without withdrawal, without psychosis, without pain and suffering. And you want to take that way. You should be ashamed of yourself.
