Thanks everyone. Widowmakervapor said he'd give me some pointers on the helix staggering. It vapes like a naked staple.

@raymo2u
How many pulls can you get off drippers like the Goon?
All the RDAs I have are 22mm except the velocity clone. Not much run time before you need to re-drip.
I'd love to have a goon deck and the LP looks great. I thought the massive center posts were too big and took up space but I see people putting big builds in them.
Maybe it's good they take up some chamber space.

Nice write up btw.

The LP is a 24mm, its just 5-6mm shorter then the Goon, depending on your build you can get 3-10 draws off of it. The build Im using closer to 10 draws before I sense a lack in taste and need to redrip.. You can fit 3.5mm coils in them but only if you did 5 wraps or less....its around the same amount of build space as the Tsunami rda, most recent RTA's....you can get away with some crazy stuff but you dont really need it for a amazing vape.

This is why I like clones, most people dont like them due to social stigma and the elitist but I see them as a test run, a way to see if the shoes fit without wasting all your cash to find out...if you do like it then save up for the authentic...if not then you lost $12.....not a big loss to see if the hype is worth the fit

I love the Tsunami but I really want clamps. Other than the Goons, Azeroth and iJoy Combo I can't think of anything.
I'd be happy with a Kennedy styled post too. Just anything that will take wide wire and doesn't apply tension from the side. I hate my first and last wrap being torqued on like that.

My same complaint about "velocity" style posts :/

So I wanted to make something for the G2 I just got. The binding is pretty messed up, but other than that it came out okay I guess. I was in a hurry and wasn't really concerned about the evenness of the bind.

It kind of reminds me of a snake or reptiles skin over a rigid bone structure....it looks pretty crazy!

How do you like the G2 so far Chef?

This is the first time I've used it. I think I want it mostly for mixed wire low resistance TC. In wattage mode, this coil tastes like crap for some reason. Using Cotton Bacon and the same DIY Froot Loops juice that I've been using for over a week now. The RDA is a Velocity V3 clone.

I dont see why it would taste bad, the coil position and height looks perfect...the most you can do now is play with the AFC and wattage...

Running it at 100W. It has that weird flavor that regular cotton has before it's broken in. Kinda burnt rubber tasting.

Oils on the cotton/coil from wicking or installing the coil? Thats what I normally find it from...Ive been washing my hands prior to building and then wicking every time and using tweezers to pull the cotton through because of this..it can become annoying.

Could be the RDA, too. It's the first time I've used it, and I forgot to wash it first.

Im very happy to now have a small USC for this reason...it used to take a bit to wash every piece, now I break it down as much as i can and toss it in and give it a 6 minute run, then rinse and its ready :D

I usually just use dish soap and water in the kitchen sink. The only things I use the USC for is polished coils and power steeping.

Got the Goon LP Clone today....its funny that the clone came out before the authentic and the only differences I can see comparing to pictures from my friend on the Team_Goon are Oring Color (Black version should have Red Rings), Clamps are polished (Should look casted/grainy), and the serial/lettering on its underside are deeply engrave (Should be painted/lasered on)

I would say the quality of this certain clone is pretty high, Ive had authentic goons that were lower quality....
The airflow is loose and smooth and easy to adjust.
The Juice well isnt crazy deep but its about the same as twisted messes rda. From what I see its squonk friendly!
The post system is massive and takes a large amount of the chamber up, after you install your coils there is just room for air to slip around the coils and come up to your mouth....this and the shortened stature makes it a awesome flavor rda...even with the airflow almost wide open the flavor is as good as the normal goon with 2 holes open but the air resistance is similar to 3 holes open.

Installation takes a bit of finesse but after the first time its pretty easy to build on, just make sure your leads are the needed length. You install the coils like a postless deck then pull them downwards and make them level with the posts. I think the bending around the clamps, as well as being secured to the posts gives a better connection as there are more contacting points on the leads.

It comes with a Ultem Comfort Cap and a preinstalled Tip, this clone can take normal Goon/Kennedy Tips too. The pin is made of copper and protrudes, so its safe to use on hybrids. I do warn that if you build low in this one you will burn your lips off if not using the Ultem cap, the cap is only sitting a few mm's away from the cap.

When I get the Authentic on hand I may do a fully orchestrated comparison, this is just what Ive gathered so far.

Not as pretty as @raymo2u coils but works awesome in the VCP Boss. 29x2/36 @ 0.65 ohms this baby hits hard, awesome flavor and chucks pretty damn thick plumage! Fogged up the Apartment in no time.

I hate shoving shit in your guys faces but....Aeronaut just sent me this gem..
I may have lost on coilwars but Aeronaut decided to sponsor me and Teddy_dampft (my team member) as he has enjoyed everything that we've done so far, I was told it was a rainbow Aeronaut V2 Limited Edition and I was thinking thats cool but a bit weird....turns out in Sweden Rainbow is the same as Chameleon!

Tossed a Hybrid Framed Staple into it...At .33 Ohms it didnt work very well on my Tres Equis, so I tossed it on the Hohm Wrecker G2 at 100w and its explosive!!

View attachment 68608 my first Clapton 26g ss316l core wrapped with 26g nichrome 80. ( Yea I know! A bit big for an outer wrap but I wanted to make my first Clapton coil and didn't wanna wait on my 36G wire!)
That is very tidy for your first ever clapton- my first one had a few bits missing and also some lumps where the wire had bunched up.

The outer is a bit thick like you say, but you may actually like a thick outer wrap. We all like different things, so it is worth a try :).

My first set of semi successful Clapton coils!! Keep in mind they are 26G ss316l core wrapped with 26G nichrome 80 so they were Hella springy and there for thy aren't too pretty but they vape good and it's practice for when I get my 36 G n80 wire in :) IMG_20161208_102023.jpg IMG_20161208_102056.jpg IMG_20161208_102324.jpg

Thank you! It took a few trys and like I said I didn't wanna wait for my 36G lol my second ones didn't turn out too well they were super springy for some reason so they weren't close together at all they ended up spaced coils haha! But they vape well!

Use AV Wingman sleeve on your SMPL 350 and a heat sink for a Clapton Tool Mod. If you use a mod that allows stacking 350s (Vertex, Panzer, Vanilla) you can go double speed @ 8.4v.
It'll run up to 12v.
Slap it in a vice or clamp and your good to go. I'll post a pic of my stacked Clapton tool later on. I picked it up for less than 10$ - It's not a drill, but it's very handy when stacked.

You got a AV sleeve, a heatsink and a 18350 SMPL for less then $10? How does it clapton without a motor? No real control on speed and you need to hit the button to run it?

a Drill or Dremel and a Spool Tamer for less then $30 altogether makes the perfect setup that does much more then just clapton.
