Engineers refer to it as planned obsolesce. They design it that way.
Only car i know of that was made to last years was the Checker. Used as cabs mostly.

When I make Chicken Noodle I mix store bought stock and homemade. I use thighs cuz hey they're cheep and good. lol

Crown Vic with the 4.6 mod motor comes to mind as well. with regular maitence they routinely get over half a million miles. car of choice for taxis for this very reason along side the fact that replacement parts are cheap available anywhere and easy to work on.
I am doing good now that everything is out except the stitch where they took the tube out. Go back next Tuesday and they will take the last stitch out

Got ditched by the plumber for the well repair, with a myriad of excuses, so wound up fixing it myself. I prefer to have the work repair stuff done by professionals, for warranty and insurance reasons, but necessity rules sometimes.

Hello, Corner Gang. Liz and I went through our first real snow this weekend past. 
Mom took us out on a downtown Denver drive, and as we looked at SO MANY LIGHTS... the snow became insane. It was just after our visit to Villa Italia - a huge shopping area - like downtown NYC, or Boston on sidewalks. Then:
We were in near-whiteout conditions. Mom was pointing at things while driving, and BAM! We'd hit a turning lane median, but the car seemed okay. "No idiot lights," Mom quipped.
When we got back to her house, I took note that the camber/caster was WAY OFF on her left front tire. The rims were fine. Off to her favorite mechanic the car would go on Monday (yesterday).
We're home now, tree's up, outdoor lights, et al. I've a need for a shave (face and head), so Liz and will check in later.
