Real Flavors flavorings?

Does anyone know if the alcohol evaporates quickly when steeping the raw extracts? I have AI liver disease and have to be careful of alcohol usage (never was a drinker). There is one flavor I'm dying to try...the baklava. They don't offer it in a vg version.
I will be back later tonight. Thanks in advance for any clues or suggestions. :)

On some there is very little alcohol, I think Baklava might take a little longer though. The VG flavors would be the same though, from what I have read Walt the owner of RF say is the raw extracts are exactly what is put into the VG blends with another ingredient or so, he would not say what the other ingredient is, just said think Sweet.

The Baklava is available in VG, you can get it at these places:

I wouldn't know how to determine if the alcohol has or hasn't evaporated but the Raw Baklava definitely needs a good long steep. I did my tester at 2% on 02Sept and I wasn't a fan of it the first couple weeks it was steeping. I was getting heavy clove and cinnamon notes but perhaps it was the alcohol? It is awesome now though and I have a 100ml bottle of it steeping. I also have a 100ml bottle of French Toast and Pumpkin Pie extracts steeping with it.

Thank you. I'm going to try the vg version first and do some more research on evaporation/alcohol in flavoring. Pumpkin pie sounds good:ejuice:.

So I finally had a little extra money to spend on flavorings and I picked all extracts
Brownie
Cream cheese
Yogurt
Meringue
Strawberry (of course lol)
Butter toffee
I've tried all of them in a mix but not in a single flavor test. I absolutely love all of them. I had a feeling I would considering I like the majority of Real Flavors.
The stand outs so far are brownie, yogurt and meringue. The strawberry is good but I have so many different strawberries that I wouldn't miss this one if I ran out. I really enjoy the butter toffee but again I wouldnt have to have it. Cream cheese is a terrific flavor that will have its place in my diy Vape lair. I will get some testers made up and do some reviews just so we have different opinions in the thread. But I'll for sure be adding some new ones once Christmas is past and my mula is back right.

I am planning to switch to primarily (exclusively, I hope) RF Extracts as my TFA/CAP flavors I already have get emptied and replaced by similar RF Raw flavors. The only TFA I see myself having to still buy (in big bottles) at this point is RY4 Double. I love that I can use very small percentages and get great flavor. I just mixed up 240ml each of Pumpkin Pie, Baklava and French Toast. I will likely buy a few of their flavors in VG that are not yet available in Raw Extracts (hopefully some day) like Aged Bourbon Cream and Bread Pudding (just made a couple big batches of these and need to order more soon).

I'm interested in trying a few of the extracts but I really don't need a huge bottle of them. Are they only available for purchase in that one size?

I used to buy a juice from Walt called Livewire ... still hoping he might release the recipe at some point. :)

1oz only afaik direct from their site or from walmart's site, which goes a long way. None of the juice sites like gremlin that sell RF in smaller bottles offer the extract line, only the VG line, from what I have seen.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking.

I'll probably try a few anyway given the positive results yourself and others have experienced. I just don't have the patience to wait on the VG flavorings to come around, lol.

I have only tried 3 of the extracts so far (and 5 of their VG flavors) but some of them benefit from longer steeping (the baklava does at least for me) but the extracts generally don't need to steep nearly as long as the VG ones I have tried or from what I have read from others.

That's what I'm hoping because they really do have some great flavors. I'm interested in that Pumpkin Pie extract ... haven't found one yet that I thought really tasted like one. That Baklava sounds good too!

The pumpkin pie and french toast extracts are both really good but I have never tried other similar flavors/recipes to compare them to. I also love the vg versions of bread pudding and aged bourbon cream.

I really hope they come out with the bread pudding in extract form, love that flavor but a pain to work with in vg.

Definitely planning on getting the french toast and a bunch more in the future.

Only raw extracts for me, the VG versions are just too week.

Gremlin DIY sells bottles as small as 5ml for $1.75 (although being a big spender, I'll probably pick up the extravagant 15ml option for three bucks. :)) This is where i'll be picking up the next round of RF .. and FLV samples, for that matter.

Thanks to all for taking some hits and misses for the team and a special howdoyado to Mystic Rose. I haven't forgotten about you!!

In UK so only VG ones, but my personal opinions:

Awful:
Choc Chip Cookie
Coffee Cake (coil killer)

Flavourless (so still awful)
Cheesecake
Key Lime Pie

Dissapointing
Blue Moon Ice Cream
Cherry Pie
Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Good
Strawberry Rhubarb
French Toast
Coconut Cream Pie

Excellent
Bread Pudding
Cookies n Cream
Strawberry Pastry with Frosting

So like all vendors they have there good and bad, frustrating thing is having to steep for so long to find out and more often than not be dissapointed. However the excellent ones I think really are excellent pudding, pastry and biscuits, my kind of vapes so I (just about) continue to try more. Am now steeping elephants ear and rice crispy treat in several different recipes

Hope you get the Raw Extracts or as they call them now "Super Concentrates" they are so much easier to work with than the VG counterparts and steeping is greatly reduced.

I just got in there new Fried Chicken extract......I know, I am a sick puppy. lol. Planning on making a chicken and waffles, I hope it doesn't suck.

You will probably really be bummed you missed the black friday 50% off flash sale. I bought 24 ounces of SC's, and have a list of about the same number for future orders. I have tested 18 so far and they are all quite excellent even with short steep times. The only flavor I have found so far that really HAS to be steeped at least a month is the Baklava (so the pastry notes can come forward and balance with the spice notes).

I am now making lots of 120 - 250 ml recipes with all my tpa/fw/cap flavors to try and use them up and plan to only use RF SC flavors going forward, and the occasional VG flavor they don't offer in their SC line. I love being able to use 2 - 3.5% total flavor in my recipes vs having to use 10 - 20% of PG or VG flavors.

Oh how I wish I didn't ever know that lmao.
But yes these real flavors are just like their name REAL. I've had great success with the SC's so far. They are not the hidden gem of flavorings anymore which is great.

Agreed, I am surprised they don't get more attention here or on ECF. They have quite a following on ELR so that is where I have been posting/following tasting notes most in regards to these RF SC flavors.

I just mixed 6 different single flavor testers together from earlier this month so I can do 6 more single flavor tests: Bourbon + Cream + Coconut + Brown Sugar + Banana + Baked Bread. I hope I like it as I have >100ml of it to vape now that I mixed them all together.

Next up for testing is Rice Krispy, Sugar Cookie, Marshmallow, Condensed Milk, Graham Cracker and Cake Batter.

Once that is done it is on to testing recipes I come up with from my single flavor testing (I often drip a few together to see how they taste together, and then mix 2 or more together into dripper bottles to clean out my tester bottles for more testing), and trying to convert recipes that use my TPA/CAP/FW flavors to much lower percents using similar flavors from the RF SC line.

I have really enjoyed all 27 of the SC single flavors I have tested so far. They have all been tested between 0.8 and 2.5%. For me I think 2.5 - 3.5% total flavoring is best. The cookies n cream at 2.5% was outstanding but if/when I mix a big batch it will probably get bumped to 3.5% for some extra flavor.

I have tried 2 actual recipes so far just based on my single flavor tests:

Indian Bread v1.01 (RFSC)
1.50% Fried Dough (Real Flavors)
1.00% Baked Bread (Real Flavors)
1.00% Brown Sugar (Real Flavors)

It wasn't quite what I had in mind but it is a tasty bakery flavor. I will probably try it again and swap the dough/bread percents around a bit, and lower the brown sugar and add in some tpa/cap cinnamon danish until I order some RF SC Cinnamon Roll or Cinnamon Toast.

Vanilla Cheesecake Custard v1 (RFSC)
1.50% Vanilla Custard (Real Flavors)
1.00% Cheesecake (Real Flavors)
1.00% Graham Cracker (Real Flavors)

- initial smell = 2 much cheesecake, try lowering cheesecake and increasing vanilla custard by 0.25 or 0.5
- Day 1, think I may want to reduce cheesecake 0.25 and increase graham cracker by same percent
- A week later the cheesecake smell is still a bit strong but the flavors are mingling much better now when vaped. It's a keeper but will still try it with a bit lower cheesecake and higher custard percents.

I have a bunch of other known tfa/cap/fw recipes I am working on converting to all RF SC flavors for testing after I combine my current testers together to free up more of my 30ml tester bottles.

I hate to say it but so far I'm pretty disappointed in the RF extracts I recently received. They do not seem to be all that concentrated, at least not the ones I have tried so far. For example, I mixed up Boysenberry @ 2% thinking it would be fairly strong given the recommended usage guide of 1-2.5% but it's virtually flavorless. I gradually bumped it up to 4% and yet it is still very weak flavor-wise. I'm going to let it steep for a bit but I don't see it improving as dramatically as it would need to in order for me to feel like it's really a super concentrated flavor.

Unfortunately, that appears to be the theme with the RF flavors I have ... really lackluster flavor. I doubt I'll bother trying any additional flavors personally. It's a shame because I really had high hopes for them. :(

how long has it steeped? I haven't gone above 3.5% total flavoring with RF SC's (don't have Boysenberry yet) and I like the flavor I get just fine but I find most really need to steep at least 3 or 4 weeks, some longer. The single flavors I test a lot lower percentage at first just to see how concentrated they really are. I did my Apple and Strawberry at 1.5% I think and they had decent flavor once they had steeped a week or two.

It hasn't been very long at all but frankly IMO, if they were really as concentrated as they indicate they are, it shouldn't require a 3-4 week steep time in order for the flavor to be more than just barely perceptible. In comparison, consider FA in which the usage guidance is similar, I have never had to wait 3-4 weeks for the flavor to come around.

It wouldn't be feasible for a juice manufacturer to use these extracts if they did require a 3-4 week steep ( or longer ) and I know Walt used to sell juice so how he got this flavoring to work for him is a mystery to me. I used to buy juice from him on occasion and I thought it was pretty good. I was happy to see him offer the flavoring when he quit selling the finished product but now I'm wondering exactly how much flavoring he was using in his mixes.

I'll definitely revisit these after they have steeped for a while but as already mentioned, I don't think they could possibly improve enough for me to consider these as 'Super Concentrated'. I'm not saying the flavor is bad, it's just weak, very weak ... maybe the ones I got are old, I don't know, I just know they aren't very strong at all. I would have been less disappointed if I just didn't like the flavor(s) because that's to be expected sometimes but the lack of strength is huge negative for me.

Yup, the Blueberry Extract I tried stand alone at 2% was a bit weak, and the taste was not as good as TFA Blueberry Wild, (my favorite).
Strawberry Extract at 2% was decent, maybe a bit less flavor than INW Shisha Strawberry at 2%, (which is still top dog IMO).
(Might use this one up just by mixing in a bit with the Shisha)
(Other brands of fruits don't need 3-4 weeks steeping )

Butterscotch Extract can't compete with FW Butterscotch or FW Natural Butterscotch in taste.
Vanilla Custard Extract has a good taste but is way less potent than CAP & TFA.

Santa Claus came late! But hey better late then never.
I tried to post a pic of all the flavors I just got in. Not sure if it will upload or not.
But I've been having great success with RF. Of course not every single flavor will be a banger but the majority are winners.
Out of 30 flavors I still need
Sugar cookie
Fried dough and baked bread
I took a leap of faith and order led souffle (tired of the sweet desserts needed a change and i must say I like it.) Time to get to work and make a bunch of samples!

I finally mixed up Bread Pudding and Cinnamon Custard yesterday. I mixed them both up at 12%. It's going to be hard to wait a month before I try them. What are some more flavors that y'all have tried that are good? What's the opinion on Pineapple Upside Down Cake?

Those yorker caps came from RF directly? Those will be nice when I place my next order, if so, as I hate having to use pipettes for the 27 flavors I already have from RF.
Yes the Yorker caps came with the bottles. But the bottles are so stiff that I still take them out and use a syringe

Absolutely. I tell you what. I'm loving the vanilla custard (nothing like capella more of a pudding or thick creamy vanilla) and the Bavarian cream is great. So many good flavors and Im so relieved Walt came out with the SC's because the VG is good for some but I don't have time to wait for ejuice to steep lol

bavarian cream is at the top of my 'to order next list' now that I ran out of my TFA DX Bav Cream. I too really like the Vanilla Custard and am working up some new recipes to test with it, like this one that I need the Bav Cream for:

Soul Custardy v1.00 (RFSC)
1.75% Vanilla Custard (Real Flavors)
0.50% Cream (Real Flavors)
0.50% Graham Cracker (Real Flavors)
0.40% Butter Toffee (Real Flavors)
0.25% Bourbon (Real Flavors)
0.20% Brown Sugar (Real Flavors)
adapted from this - http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/963821/soul custardy clone v. 3

Looks good man. I know RF isn't perfect but RF just has a cleaner taste then Tfa, fw and capella (most). And to be honest when FA says 1-2% I usually use double that so the fact that I have to use more then recommended is not a huge deal especially when Walt has a killer sale going on

Yea those are the VG flavors and not the extracts. I've got a box full of RF VG flavors that probably won't ever be used.:gaah:
I just ordered a black Raspberry VG flavoring. Hard flavor to find.
Will reply back once I try it.

And yes VG based flavorings are problematic at best. this includes other brands as well.

Maybe no one has tried the pineapple upside down cake? All of the RF Flavors I have tried I have liked, some better than others.*

If you read the thread from front to back you will find comments about what people did or didn't like. The ECF RF thread is fairly dead. There are a couple threads on ELR (one for VG and one for SC/Extracts) that get a lot more traffic.

*Here are all the flavors I have or have tried, if you have any specific questions:

1.5% for the strawberry is good but still pretty potent, I like it that way though.
