Huge thanks to @whiteowl84 for these beauties. 3x 28g 316L, 36g 316L aliens. I didn't have time for a proper pic, but I still had to show them off. Damn fine work, super clean and tight, and a cool guy to do business with.

Damn. They look much better with some color. I'm glad you got them so soon. They told me Friday.
I never realized the Aromamizer Supreme deck was that large.
Imagine the plus. BTW I think I want the plus...but I'm happy with my boreas....but I want the plus.

The pic makes it look big. It's 16.5mm IIRC, which I think is perfect for the amount of airflow it has.

I'm anxious to see how the other ones color once they're spit-shined. Since they're going in the Goon I may as well complete the Raymo setup and take the pic with it on the G2. If I'm gonna post in this thread I may as well do it right. :shades:

Mohawk/Enigma Staggerton

This is something I have thought about trying since I did my first Alien Staggerton....I finally mustered up enough nut to try and attempt it today and I got it on the first attempt...Its not as awesome looking as I wanted it but then again I dont have any ribbon and I had to do it with all round wire...

For those who dont understand whats going on:
3x28g/38g Spaced Mohawk, Framed with 28g and Fused with a 38g Enigma

Jeez that looks dangerous! My mind cant even comprehend how to make that thing. If i could name it, id call it The Predator instead of an alien

Dude... so we all know that your build skills are Jedi level... But I want to compliment how damn creative you are coming up with these variations. I tip my hat to you sir.

The description is there and I still don't know what's going on looks pretty sick but I have no idea how to replicate that.

Its a under-stretched Alien decore that wraps 2 wavy sections across the top of a core and they come to a point in the center....
Just understretch your alien and use less tension while putting it on....

You can see in the wire pics how the alien lays across and do to the light amount of wrap tension it can keep the pointy edges where it would normally curl around the frames and the across the backside....now its more like a off centered square pattern.

Now it all makes sense! I can totally see how that comes together now. So it basically skips a wave when it rolls around. And i guess its supposed to stand up off of the core wires normally but you flattened it down on that one coil you posted.

Nice build whisky thats some itty bitty claptons. It almost looks like all round wire at a glance.

Its more like a front and back wrap over one face of the core and since there's no tension pulling it down flat it stays raised. If you pulled it with more tension it would stretch slightly and with more tension it would look like a normal alien since it would be pulled around the frame leaving only one wave going across instead of 2 half stretched wraps being pointed.....

I made a diagram on how it goes, this would be a single wrap around your core wires to make it easy...so one complete rotation normally is now only covering half the amount of wire so you will need a bit more alien wrap to make the same amount of Mohawk length.

I think he is wondering how the underside is flat and not sticking up like the outside is.
Its do to the wraps memory from claptoning, it wants to constrict but the cores are keeping them pulled apart so its due to that and the wave pattern holding everything the way it is

An alien happens because the decore is a circle. The top side of an alien is two half circles with a twist in the middle, so is the bottom. A mohawk uses a larger circle and puts the middle of a normal alien on the sides and the sides on the top.

What's the right width for a 22g decore? I'd like to do a framed staple mohawk with 28g frames but idk how many ply to use.

Yea i can get how the wrap works now, i was talking about the build you had posted before raymo where you flattened it down which looked pretty cool. Is a regular mohawk flat on one side though? I assume it is or it would be a son of a bitch to wick. One more thing, can you make one with the normal 3 wire core? It doesnt have to be extra wide does it?
Im thinking the mohawk was created by messing up a regular alien and then saying "screw it im gonna roll with it" and BAM, certified coil porn:bingo:

I have had the notion that the tight alien wrap tends to kind of wick juice due to the shape, and works better than just a triple core clapton. If that is true, outside of just looking cool under a magnifying glass, does a staggered or spaced alien wrap work better than a straight clapton?

It really depends on the stretch and tension....Ive been able to keep all cores flat and parallel and even keep the inside of the coil flat...some times it will bunch up and triangle. Though if you use a wider core you may end up with a enigma...wish is a slightly over stretched Mohawk with a rounder tip.

The "Heart Beep" Coil was a Enigma that I flattened with Toothless Pliers pinching every inch or so through the entire wire...its a pain becuase any change in pressure or angle and the wraps will look dramatically different

Damn you're a patient man. I'm still learning all the different types of coils and wire variations. I had no idea there were so many. Its really amazing what people have been making lately. I'm gonna keep practicing my alien technique before i move into mohawks and enigmas but im looking forward to it.
