Hello there my Under Brothers and Sisters. I have just discovered the joy of coil building, and of wicking! I think I like the wicking part even more lol. So Looking on the net for all the choices we have to wick with, I decided to reach out to you all and ask how you wick? What do you use and how do you use it? I would love to see some pics posted here of your wicking jobs.

Keep it Foggy and Wick it Good!

Yep, there are those too.
I'm a rayon guy myself.

Dang you Fishee , that bug has me outraged lol.

I stick to Rayon as well , i don't think it's taste is superior to cotton as many do , i think they are very very close and too close to call . I would give Rayon the edge but it's not night and day imo. Rayon just last a hell of a lot longer without getting nasty which is a huge plus.

I know URJ loves Ramie and thinks it's the cats meow (have not tried it myself) , others really like Hemp .

Silca in my protank heads and cotton in my dripper.

Would ready x wick fall under the ceramic category? I've been wanting to try that stuff.

Japanese cotton and cellucotton, I switch between the two as the flavor is a little different between the two with the same juice. Keeps my palette awake.
Also, it does last longer than cotton. Especially with dessert juices.

I will mail some cellucotton to you to try if you want celtic. I have a life time supply for myself and a couple buddies, the local sallys only had the big ass box. Some like it, some don't so try before you buy would be good to do.

ReadyxWick is really nice but pricey. Ceramic is the category it would fit in.
I find it works best in a kayfun (3mm rope), haven't tried it in a orchid yet... I should. Dripper it also works well, but kind of prefer JC or cellucotton for that.

Would someone kill that fucking bug running around on fishee's post already!!!!!

I use mainly cellucotton, for me the difference in flavor was night and day between it and cotton. I've also heard great things about ramie from @UncleRJ

I like the rayon in drippers straight from the box an japanese cotton in tanks. These work well for me.

Use it exactly like you do cotton but remember it shrinks slightly instead of expanding like cotton so don't pack it into the coil too loose but not overly tight either . Just slightly tighter than cotton

I use Japanese cotton in all of my drippers/RTAs/Gennies. I do on occasion like to revisit mesh in the Gennies.

I hear ramie is good ( from the nettle family, via Wikipedia , gwad I hate nettles, all itchy and stuff) people swear by it though. I just switched over from organic cotton balls to Japanese cotton, which I think is superior, at least as far as taste and wicking speed goes. I do feel that cotton balls are easier to work with as far as getting a larger amount of wicking material into the same space. Not that a large amount is always necessary. I've not tried Rayon, although I can get it locally quite easily, I just haven't done it yet. CF, Interesting to see that you're doing RDA's with vertical coils, which I love doing for their ease of installation, to be sure. I switch between horizontals and verticals, depending on the dripper. The RDA that (while having to be drilled out first) I think suits vertical coils best ( that I own ) is the I-go W. When I switched to vertical coils, with drilled out 2mm holes, it became a beast. Have fun, challenge the day and vape on my brother!!!!

OK, that was just disturbing. Actually it was disturbing enough that I can't even come up with a cognizant reply other than I think that I have to log off now. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stop thinking about that for awhile, thanks Franciscan...thanks a lot.

Switching back and forth between cellucotton rayon and j-cotton. Seems the rayon holds up better with gunkier juices and when you're hitting it like a maniac. Cotton seems better with subtler or very low percentage flavors. Will likely have to keep both in rotation until I know the respective qualities better. Why not?

Add Rayon ,Ramie and Hemp .
Ya know I bought a box of rayon went to Sally's got the big ass box thinking wow I have heard such great stuff about this
chemically processed pulp to resemble cotton... I build a nice .5 ohm coild and a 1.2 for a atomizer
all I know is whatever that nasty ass taste is with Rayon is surely some chemical residue left over
from the processing... I gave the Box to a vape bar tonight when I was out and every one went crazy most making crazy devices
I don't know if other Rayon is better but that shit from Sallys is nasty as hell

Wow, your the first person i have come across that doesn't love it to death , you sure you bought the Rayon Cellucotton and not the cotton Cellucotton .

I bought the big box of Cellucotton thinking it was the Rayon because the box was identical but i found out it was not the Rayon and there is a HUGE difference in vape quality as you found out.

I agree the cotton Cellucotton is some of the nastiest shit i ever vaped , brutal actually , much worse than and other cotton i have had. It also comes in strips just like the real Rayon Cellucotton but it's disgusting to vape.

Examine the box well and make sure it clearly says Rayon on it and not cotton because the boxes look exactly alike , just because you see the word Cellucotton does not mean it's Rayon fiber , easy to buy the wrong stuff .

I'd like to try this rayon cellucotton too. There seems to be two kinds of rayon cellucotton. The reinforced stuff may be some sort of plastic or something that would probably be a nasty taste.
Thoughts?

The non reinforced is from Sally's, and the reinforced is from amazon

You want the non reinforced , the 44060 . I also bought the below by mistake a while back , God awful. See how it says 100% cotton , you don't want that .

The 44060 box says 100% Rayon fiber.

Make that three kinds of rayon cellucotton. These two are from Sallys and both are non-reinforced.

**** Edit ****
never mind, both rayon cellucotton boxes are the same stuff. The 44043 is a 3lb box, and the 44060 is 500ft. (according to Graham Sanek website)

Well that's new , that has not been the case in the past ,( could be wrong maybe it was offered and it was out of stock i don't know ) (and nearly everybody who went to Sallys asked for a smaller box and no dice) , most bought the 500 foot big box because there was no other option.

As long as the smaller box clearly says 100% Rayon fiber on it there should be zero issues , it must say that on it somewhere though.

Check out any past Rayon thread and you will see how many attempted to buy the smaller box.

+156 What, no option for Cellucotton Rayon? That stuff is da' bomb. Rewick daily for best flavor and 500 feet might only last 5 years.

Re wick daily , hell no , i don't even re wick cotton daily lol. Rayon biggest advantage imo, is that it last forever and shows very little wear compared to cotton .

Rayon keeps the juice tasting great far longer than just a day .

Graham website says the 40ft boxes are available (by the 12 box case). I sent Graham an email asking for a distributor/reseller that would carry the 40ft boxes to sell individually. 12 bucks for a 500 footer is pretty cheap anyway.cellucotton available.jpg

Maybe thats why everyone in the past bought the 500 ft, thats what most stores carry if you don't order online . I would prefer a smaller box than 500ft but i wonder what the cost difference is . I agree $12.00 for 500 ft is an excellent deal regardless.
