Still like the Taifun GT over the KFL+

So I have been on a KFL kick lately. Got an angelcigs one in trade then turned around and bought two EHPro KFL+ v2's. Set my Taifun GT aside for a bit. Well the KFL is nice. But I just can't seem to get it right. The angelcigs one has been ok. But the two EHPro ones have been finicky as hell. First I was using too much cotton so I was getting dry hits. Limited my cotton and they work good for a bit then dry hits and light hits. Meaning I am drawing but getting very little vapor. Dropped down on the size of my coil and amount of wick. Still the same results. So I just revisited my Taifun. Lots of flavor and lots of vapor. Nice long and deep lung hits which I can't do with the KFL. Never once have I had a dry hit from this thing. Build was tricky to get to my liking but once I got it down it is perfect and easy to repeat.

So that is my thoughts. IMO the Taifun GT beats the KFL for ease of build, vapor and flavor. YMMV

I never tried a kfl as I am still not a confident builder. I chose the taifun gt as it let's me fix the coil and wick without having to drain the juice! I totally love it! I thought it was simple to build and I'm still using my very first coil. Just tip upside down and change out the wick. At the rebuilding class at vccne, the teachers teacher said he could never get his kfl working right, and he coils rda's all the time. I also bought a squape clone, but find that more finicky and seems to have less airflow. Sometimes my taifun will leak out the airflow hole, no biggie.

What size coil and what juice? I just had to increase the amount of cotton (thicker and longer) in my EHPro KFL+ v2 as I was getting dry hits, then burning. I believe its because of my use of 50/50 NETs that tend to clog wicks fairly quickly. My build atm is a 1.7ohm, 2mm dia, 28ga coil with somewhere between a 1/4 and 1/3 of the 'width' of unrolled cotton ball. Not twisted, but rolled between the fingers to fit smoothly in the coil.

60PG/40VG juice
30ga 2mm coil 2.0Ω
One piece of P&C cotton yarn

I don't know what is happening. I don't necessarily get dry hits. But it is like I am drawing and getting very little or nothing.

Never get dry hits on my KF black edition from Artimus .. 6 wrap micro coil with cotton. Maybe I'm just lucky though..

I want to try the taifun simply for the fact that you don't need to drain and clean just to rewick the thing.. Thats huge imo.

I'm so frustrated I'm about ready to throw in the towel and sell both of my KFL's and buy two more Taifuns.

And it is so nice to be able to open the Taifun up without having to drain the tank.

I was tempted to get the EHPro KFL recently but I'm glad you posted that u are not liking them.. Artemus finally got the nano kits so I just got 2 of those instead.. I wanted it to be smaller since my Custard cant really take the whole tank without needing to be rewicked..

I would give his KF a try first before you give up on them.. http://www.custommodcreation.com/

Where did you get your Taifun from anyways? Might be my next purchase

I think I got my Taifun from angelcigs. But I am not 100% sure. It is an HCigar and they are all over ebay. Just look for the box like the one below.

As far as my KFL I had heard that the EHPro were the best KFL clones out there. That is why I bought two. But the funny thing is I got another KFL in trade for some juice. That one was bought at angelcigs. That one, aside from the positive block coming loose a little too easy, has been trouble free in respect to dry hits and flooding.

I have 6 KFL's, and they was great for a long time, but then started having problems with leaking, don't know if the seals was getting old, but decided I wanted to try something new. I got a taifun gt and fogger coming from focalecig, but wanted something sooner, so ordered the newest fogger and a squape from ebay, the squape is really simple and can easily get to the build deck without emptying out your juice, so not a bad topper. But the fogger I have fallen in love with, it is a tricky to build as dual coils, and like a KF, you can't get to the build deck without emptying juice out, but wow the flavor and vapor is awesome, hoping the fogger from focalecig is as good as the one I got off ebay.

Will see if the taifun will out do the fogger, but I doubt it though as made for single coil.

I heard the Fogger is a pain in the ass to rebuild.. which is why I haven't looked into it.. I stay away from dual coil only because I go through juice so quick anyway and that would drain it even quicker..

I like the KF because it takes me 5 min to build and I never have a single problem with it.. I think I'm going to grab the Magma replica and use that for dual coils though to try out..

And I don't think I've even seen the Squape..

I wouldn't say the fogger was a pain in the ass to build, but sure happy I already had build experience before I got it, sure wouldn't be a good device for someone just starting out building, being dual coil it does go through juice pretty good, but now I'm DIYing juice, not really a big deal, and the juice consumption is worth it for the vape you get from it, for me it is so much better vape than a KF.

I like how simple the squape is, but to me the vape is nothing special, and even though it is simple and easy to build, it is a real pain to fill up with juice though.

Cool man, thanks for the tips.. I've heard very good things about the Fogger.. And I fucking wish I had time to DIY.. and the space lol.

At this point I don't mind supporting certain vendors that ship out quickly and don't charge a ridiculous amount for juice

@Nailz: The Squape is the one very similar to the Taifun right?

Also let me know who the maker of the Taifun from Focalcig is. And how long it takes to get.

That is where I was running into problems before. I was running 2.4mm cols with doubled over yarn. I think I am gonna go back to a 2.4mm with doubled over yarn and snip an end of each side right at the coil. That way I will have a single dropping down to the juice channels but have the doubled over area under the coil for better surface heating area.

@Garemlin I've not got a taifun yet, but no I don't believe it is similar, the squape is basically 3 parts or 4 if count the drip tip too, as can see in pic

This is the taifun I ordered, reviews are good on it - http://focalecig.com/Product/Taifun...c-Cigarette-E-Cigarette-Atomizer-Silver-12627

Ahh ok. I was out so didn't have a chance to look it up. There was another that is very similar to the Taifun. Can't remember what it was. Still curious who makes the one Focalcig sells. If you could post a pic of the box when you get it.

@Nailz Not sure who makes the $28 one but the other one for $26.75 is obviously the HCigar as it is the same box as mine shown in the pics. Please report back when you get it. I am really curious if the chimney has a stop on it like the real Taifun. Mine does not and you have to be careful when sliding it up as it will not stop. That is my only beef with it.

Edit: Ok that is weird. I just looked further down in the reviews and the $28 has the same box. Hmmmm

Could make a 2mm coil too.. less surface area so the wick can keep up..

I have 2 Kayfun 3.1s. Got one from local B&M the other from Angelcigs. They are exactly the same!!! Same box everything! I love them both and have my two favorite juices in them and have no problems. What I learned from building videos is you must keep the channel at the bottom of the deck clear. I use my handy dandy poker tool and clear the wick away from the wall of the chimney where the grove is. Just a little poke!!!:) That seems to work for me. Maybe it will help someone!

I apparently can't get the right amount of wick. I knew the first time I had too much. When I did the rebuild I followed everyone's advice and still getting shitty results. I may be one of those that just can't seem to get it right. But I have heard the same thing about the Taifun. Lots of people, including Phil B when I talked to him, have trouble getting the right mount of wicking for it. Me I have got it just right.

As I said, I am one that had to increase the cotton amount or get burns... There is a guy over on the 'other' forum that started with small wicks and kept increasing the amount trying to get to that point where he would get dry hits/burns and the only times he could, was with too little cotton. More just produced gurgling, but no dry hits/burns..

Yeah I have tried many different ways. Different size coils. Different amount and size of wicks. Always careful not to block the juice channels. But I am still getting the same damn results.

The one for $26.75 is SKU #18775
The one for $28 is SKU #12627

Take a look at the juice channels themselves, and make sure they are fully connected and open where the vertical and horizontal parts meet. Should form an L. I had to dremel a couple of mine! took me forever to figure out why one of them worked perfectly, and the other would work for 10 minutes and then start burning. THAT was why. lol

Totally agree. I have 4 kayfuns and 2 Russians... none of them come close to the taifun. I even bought an authentic taifun I liked the clone so much. (Save your money, the clone works just as well)

I drilled the air hole and removed the tube from the air flow on the deck on one...wow. it hits like a dripper.

I lke both and have learned how to make the Kayfun work right, but I have to say that the cotton will last longer in the Taifun and thats a big deal to me......more days in my pocket without changing cotton.

The Taifun has a good taste, but will not hit as hard as a Kayfun 3.1 due to the bigger air draw in the 3.1.....but thats ok with me at the moment. The kayfun lite or Russian has the same weaker air draw as the Taifun.

I use the FT Taifuns.....No problems unless your cotton going through side of the top cap holes is big, thick and fluffy when you do your cotton build (make it thinner and slightly loose at the coil only)

I use 8 to 10 mls a day in a Kayfun 3.1 as opposed to about 6 mls a day in a Taifun...... again, this is due to the larger air draw and hit you get on a Kayfun in my opinion. Dont know what else it could be.

My two cents....

Easy to maintain usually = less time apart, I have been taking a very serious look at the Kayfun BIG... but, I can see by the wide response, I really need a Taifun in my collection too

That was a KF? In any event, I'm sure that little tidbit will save me a headache somewhere in the future. I guess I'd do well to bring my dremel in th house.. If you ever have a suggestion, I love talking about this, Im a devout tinkerer, and I will always listen to the voice of experience. Thats one trick this old dog learned as a pup.
