I just started mixing myself about two months ago now..very easy...but TFA is one I will stick with... the owner of the company has spent a lot of time with trying to keep everyone informed with the possible risks of her flavorings(maybe she has partners..dunno).

Check out the site.. she updates it all the time. https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/c-54-professional-flavors.aspx
Use the full site if you have mobile, works much better.

I never tried that brand.

Actually, I'm still researching various VG grades. I was led to believe that food grade glycerin is the one to avoid, but still trying to gather more info on that. For straight up VG, I like to use Wizard Labs:

http://wizardlabs.us/index.php?route=product/category&path=83_70

I use this to cut my VelvetCloud 6mg Nic VG down to a 3mg. Not sure if its the nicotine content, but the Wizard labs VG is noticeably sweeter than the Velvet Cloud unflavored 6mg nic VG. It could be the dilution of the Velvet Cloud VG with distilled water, but I'm not 100% sure.

BTW, pretty amazing how cheap VG is huh? The markup for "gourmet" juice is pretty staggering once you look at it from that point of view lol

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/52669-pg-vg-labeling-purity-please-read.html

Pretty interesting...to sum it up, if it's "kosher grade," since there aren't standards with USP, it could possibly not be kosher approved by the one's it should be for, orthodox Jews and Muslims..but if you really want to know if it is vegetable base (and what vegetable- corn, palm...etc.. I just skimmed it quickly, read it all, but fast, so I don't know about the food grade vs USP argument..

Are Mechs a thing of the past ?

I can't see how mech tube mods are a thing of the past ... I can't think of anything out there that's sexier than a good looking tube mod.

And you can still have the convenience of variable watts / volts by just installing a Kick module in it.

I vape more on my mech tube mod (with Kick), than I do with my regulated box mod.

Mechs are here to stay..batteries just keep getting better all the time like the Efest 26650's rated at 32A Cont/64AP/3500mAh that rocks my .15 builds on the BFM/zenith RDA..

not to get off course here ,but does your stingray stand up in 18650 mode without fireing while its unlocked

It's never fired on it's own.. I use it in 18650 mode most of the time (vaping at my desk right now).. and I usually never lock it.. I will say the button is a little sticky sometimes - thats the only issue I've noticed, but it doesn't bother me too much.

The same can be said of automatics vs. manual transmissions - semi-auto handguns and rifles vs. revolvers and bolt guns (or even bow & arrow and Bowie knife) - digital music vs. phonograph recordings - microfiber and Gore-Tex vs. waxed cotton, wool and animal hide... I can go on and on.

Although we have all the former... the latter still works, and in many cases, thrives. People who live in the past... or people who appreciate and even revel in the knowledge and skill required... to obtain the best from what is most basic? Perhaps a bit of both.

Greater knowledge of a thing can often provide one with a greater appreciation of a thing... even an old thing.

Meh, I'm with you on the whole mechs are awesome side of things, but the kick is sorely outdated IMO. It just can't deliver the power I (and many other vapers) need. For instance, I would want to run my tanks in the mid 30 watt range and my drippers in the 40 watts or above territory. As far as I know, the kick and kick 2 (and any of the similar off brand versions that do the same thing) are nowhere near being able to supply that. Now, if or when they ever get up to speed and achieve those levels of performance, I'll be first in line screaming "take my moneys and shut up" lol

That makes me wonder , why has no-one made a kick that can do 30W ?

I hear what your saying, but for me, I like the vape I get from my Kayfun with a single 1.6 ohm coil being fed 4.0v (10 watts).

The Kick can deliver that.

I think mechanical's are alive and well. I use both mechanical's and regulated. I enjoy both.

This stand appeals to me greatly. Can one be obtained? Or do I need to show this pic to a local cabinet maker?

I love mechs, I'm addicted to them. I have kinda lost my desire for an authentic, though. My next big purchase device wise will most likely be a high quality, high powered box mod. I'd like one regulated device that's a true badass workhorse, my MVP doesn't even come close to cutting it at this point. I'd like to have a good 100 watts or so, just to have 100 watts.

I'll keep buying clones of quality and good price if I like them as they come along, and who knows, maybe an authentic. I just love the look and simplicity of a tube mech. And I love me some dirty copper. Again, it would be nice to be able to dial in my power, though, and not have it drop with my battery.

So... IMO mechs are far from dead, there are just more awesome options than ever for regulated devices, too. To each their own.

I JUST started using mechs within the last three weeks. I know for me the barrier to entry early on was the steep prices and the mythic learning curve. I always assumed it would be like trying to build my own coils, when in reality it was super simple. An added bonus is that it has become my go to device to carry at the beach or other place where damage could happen. I wrecked a few Vamos by having them out in the sand, and with the mech all I really have to worry about is my finish getting scratched up.

.

A co-worker makes Ares Extreme Modz 300W box mod, it doesn't use 18650 batteries tho. It uses a 11.1v battery.

If I were into box mods I would pick one up but for me, mechs are not a thing of the past.

I need to google that, 300w is just crazy. My builds put me around 15w, so a DNA30 would fit my needs, just figure if and when I do it, I oughta go big. But 300w... Damn.

Well I have a Sigelie 20 and 30watt my only complaint no Buck. I'm a RTA Guy 3 Gennies. a Authentic Russian and a Aqua Clone. I break out my Magma about 1 day a month for the heck of it. I bought a iHybrid Pure on clearance for $40 gotta say it Rocks. So a Mechanical Hybrid with a very good RTA non Genesis would interest me. As I rarely go abouve above 15 watts I guess my next purchase will be a Evolve 40 Device and a Russian 2.0 Anyways as to the OP Mechs wereare Mainstream I expect them to become niche market in the future

naw...tons of mechs are beautiful devices...
that magnetic bottom switch was genius...
sure would like to see a mech with a side magnetic switch...
just prefer to use a regulated device so i dont have to carry a dozen batteries ...
someone comes along with a different view than i have, they're not wrong, we just dont see eye to eye...
rip into my coil management, i giggle a bit...simple modified micro coil works for me...others like what they like...
his posts kinda butt hurt me for a sec, and i pee'd a bit, but i had a vape on my shitty coil, with my shitty regulated mod at my sissy 20 watts...
i'm good:D
Use a 26650 mech..you won't have to carry a dozen extra batteries...

I would go back to mechs if a 20-50w kick was made. I like a steady vape and battery cutoff at 3.3v

Evolv is supposedly working on a higher wattage kick..:)

I've heard of kicks but what are they exactly? I only use the 26650 mech mods and the batts I use are already powerful enough to support my sub ohm builds all day on one charge.. Could a kick make it even better? How does it work? Thx

I think and im sayin I think,,,with a kick you can adjust your watts or volts depending on the kick you have,,sometimes just a raw battery is to much power and you need to tone it down,,,,and it works the other way to so you can have a set amount of power when your battery starts to get low,it gives you more power
this is my understanding of how they work
If im wrong anyone, chime in and correct me,
I thought I was wrong once,but I was mistaken

I thank you for your reply..but I don't think I could even put a kick in this BFM due to hybrid top cap and no extra room in the tube..in fact if batts are over 66mm in length they don't fit either being too long.. I guess I really don't need a kick anyway... Lol

Ok, so that works for you, but IMO most people run their kayfun's at a Lower resistance: around .8 ohms. So I think the optimal wattage at that resistance would exceed the kick's performance range. I dunno, evolv was freaking killing it for a good long while there, but with the DNA 40 and how they haven't updated the kick in a while I feel like success has stagnated their motivation and drive

And my stick still burns rubber in all 4 gears ..(454 Chevelle SS)...Lol

Nice. I prefer the '68 SS 396 Hemi tho....

I "helped" to rebuild one once. Numbers matching.
It had been turned into a Mexican border drug-running car down in a TX shop...geared so high it couldn't burn rubber and they put a sunroof in it..... We fixed it. A lot.

It had been jacked up with fattys... We put in some old skool Muncie/Rockcrusher gear instead of the idiotic auto trans, cherry bombs, etc...painted it the pale metalic original blue...with Coopers and MF'n Cragars. :D

Jeez....that was a scary car..lol
It'd do 0 to 140 in seconds...we got scared at 147mph and there was a gear left...

Mechanicals are also alive and well at my house. :) I use the mechanicals the most by far. Still use the regulated ones too and love them all for what they are.

Every single Brick and Mortar I visit every Vape bar and the derivatives 90% of the people are using a Mech
I use both.
That is soo true..here in San Diego we have a boatload of B&M vape shops I've visited..
All were using mech mods, so I think that says alot about how well mechs are liked compared to regulated devices..
I have both but rarely use them preferring my hard hitting and reliable mechs...

I like the high power vw like my Sigelei 100 I usually have it set at 4.2 v when I build mechanical builds on my atttys the battery life and consistent vape doesn't hold a candle to my copper fuhatten. I only use it while charging my married batteries

I must eat my words in my previous post regarding no more desire for an authentic... I picked up a Copper Vanilla when Ecig.com was doing the 52% off deal. I couldn't pass it up, and I fucking love it. I am gonna get a Sigelei 100 Watt most likely next.

@mommabird62 that is quite the gorgeous collection there... Wow.

So I see VJ posted some thoughts regarding the already late DNA 40 chipset coming out soon. I had to chuckle because that's the first thing I thought of when I heard they were releasing a 40watt chip.....too little too late. And then to add a gimmick like "temp control" made it even more of a joke.

Anyway, are mechanical mods going bye bye for good?

I still love my mechs! I like the fact that they are simple, basic devices that are subject to some computer chip to make them work. I like the fact that with my mech mods I can, and have been able too, vape at 100+ watts long before any regulated box mod came along.

I don't hate the box mods..but I do hate the idea of mechanicals becoming a thing of the past. What about you?
I bought a DNA 30 when they were the hot thing, I just bought a used Vanilla, and now, it's the one doing all the work. That box is good for somethings, but I like a Mech mod as well, or better.

Sold all of my regulated devices. I admit, on paper, the specs will definitely show that a provari or DNA vapes better than something unregulated, but personally, I don't find it to be true at all.

As TheWestPole mentioned, one of my personal favorite setups is a KFL+ w/ nano kit on my 4Nine in 18350 mode.
2a9qgsw.jpg

I think form factor plays a big role too, and for me, smaller and simple is more. I did like the Vaporshark a lot, but always went for the 4Nine first.

Mechs a thing of the past? I think State O' Flux pretty much countered that notion in the best way possible ;)
Everything has it's place. I really enjoy my box... At home. On the road, I think I prefer a Copper, or Brass Mech Serously looking at the copper and brass Slug mod.. :D Like the pair of them for Christmas!
