Question about leaking tank and hot vape hit

I'm using the Wismec Elabo tank and running into a couple of issues.

1) The vape hit is pretty hot. I'm running my mod (wismec predator) in Power mode at around 50 Watts. Tried opening and closing the airflow and it still hits hot.

2) The tank keeps leaking from the airflow vent at the bottom. The coil that came with the Elabo tank doesn't screw in. It literally just sits on top of the atomizer base. I'll take some hits and then it'll just start leaking from the air vent. Another time, I just turned it off and left it on the table. When I came back, it was leaking from the vents.

:(:(

1) if it is hot, turn down the power. You don't HAVE to use every watt your box can put out
2) Make sure the gasket rings (O-rings) are seated correctly and the atomizer is in correctly. Make sure you have the air flow fully OFF when changing coils, filling, or not using the tank. If you leave the tank sitting with open airflow, the vacuum that holds your juice in the tank leaks out, and then the ejuice since there is nothing holding it in. (Think along the line of that card under a glass of water trick, where you half fill a glass with water, put a playing card over the mouth of the glass, flip it over and let go of the card, and the water stays in)
Basically.. close your airflow when you aren't vaping.

If this doesn't work, let us know.

Hi thanks for the information. Will definitely make sure to keep the vents closed.

Also as im vaping using power mode, the only thing to modify is the Wattage? But im only at roughly 45-50 watts which is rather low to begin with no?

it depends on your coil. The heavier the coil, the more watts you need. So it is really only about your personal taste preference. Some like cool vapes, some like warm, and some like drinking coffee from the spout. LOL.. Basically, there is no "right" only "wrong"... if it is to hot.. it is wrong.
I only use power mode, personally. But I also might change from 90W to 200W on the same build. I am using an RDA dual coil though. So it actually takes 80w just to get vapor. This is at 125W.KATIES - WIN_20170423_161209.JPG KATIES - WIN_20170423_161217.JPG

But..I also have a kanger toptank that I vape around 30-35. Depending on the coil build I am using.

Im using the wismec elabo coil which is supposed to be rated for 40-120 watts. Just thought the 45-50 wattage i was already using was a bit low to begin with.

Could be your wick isn't getting enough ejuice I suppose. Once you get the leaking part fixed, drop a couple drops of juice into your coil to prime it, and give it a try. With airflow open and a hot vape you SHOULD be getting a fairly massive cloud.

Your power and airflow also are affected by how you vape.. mouth to lung or direct to lung.. D2L you pull hard and fast, which cools the coil more, M2L, you need reduced air and power, since you don't pull hard enough to really cool the coil much.

Play around with lower power for a bit, if you get a good vape, thats where you want it.. if you dont get flavor and some cloud, then there is some other problem. Do you mount your own wire in those coils or do they come premade and you just drop them in? The other thing that crossed my mind is a hot leg, but that only really ever happens when you install your own wire in the coils.

I vape at 25 watts. Just because your unit will put out 150 watts doesn't mean you have to crank it up. Everyone is different. Turn it down. You might find that vaping at a much lower wattage works for you.

In a nutshell, if 45W is too hot for you (and I don't blame you as I can't even stand 25W), then you need to make changes and vape at a lower wattage. And if your coil resistance does not perform well at a lower wattage (and I doubt it will if it's rated at up to 120W), then you also need to increase the resistance (ohms) you vape on.

Without giving us much history as to what you vaped before (if anything) and why you bought the tank you bought, as well as what your goal is insofar as what you are looking to achieve (impress friends with massive clouds? intense flavor? Just want to mimic smoking? etc, etc.), I can only assume that you are one of the many vaping newbies who got bad product recommendations from some cloudzbro in a vape shop or forum. I see this a lot on the forums and it's not only sad, but extremely irritating to see/read (no offense to you, AC515). If this is the case, then I'm sorry to tell you that you may have bought the wrong tank unless that tank has lower resistance coils available for it which will allow you to vape at lower wattages.

But im only at roughly 45-50 watts which is rather low to begin with no?

45-50W is low? Who says? If 45W is "low", what is 15W classified as...useless?

I vape between 15-18W at 1-1.5 ohms. With 3-4 second DL hits, airflow fully open using 50/50 juice, I get 2-3 times more vapor as I got smoke from a cigarette and decent flavor (I'm not a huge fan of intense, in-your-face flavor or high heat or HUGE clouds).

Remember that vaping isn't a pissing contest. It's not about how high a wattage you can vape or how low a resistance you use or how big your clouds are. It's about what YOU want and need in order for vaping to satisfy you rneeds, not what others want. This is not to say that high wattage vaping has no place...many smokers can't be satisfied with vaping unless they have a hot vapor. But this, apparently, is not the case for you.

Just remember, there are different shoe sizes for a reason. As such, your mod adjusts to different wattages for pretty much the same reason. But you must have the proper tank/coil to vape at the wattage/heat/flavor/vapor production you desire, of course.
