Full Disclosure:

Let’s get all the disclosures out of the way. This kit was sent to me directly from Coilmaster specifically for the purposes of this review. This will not in any way, shape, or form cause me to give this kit a favorable review or change my opinion in any way.

First Impression Out Of The Box:

Nice case, love the black and red color scheme. Case feels really sturdy and well made. Zippers are heavy duty and feel substantial with rubber Coilmaster pulls. Open it up and it looks like this kit has everything a builder needs to start making coils.

What’s In The box:

On one side of the case there is a phillips head screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, ceramic tweezer, bent nose tweezer, wire cutter, and a needle nose pliers. On the other side of the case we have foldable scissors, 10 feet of 24 gauge kanthal, 6 coil rods, a hex screwdriver, a Hex T tool with 3 different hex sizes, Coilmaster coiling tool, and a Coilmaster 521 Tab Mini.

From Top To Bottom:

Let’s start off with the case. The case itself is high quality and it has elastic nylon straps for the tools on one side and foam cutouts for the other tools on the other side. It’s very nicely done and well organized.

The red screwdriver is a 2x.25 flathead. Its has and anodized red color to it and it has some grooving on it that allows the user to get a good grip. The phillips head is the same just in a different color. That screwdriver has a blue anodize to it and is the same size and quality as the flat head. Both of the screwdrivers feel nice in the hand and give you that precision feel.
c2901606e0d386dd774f65b38f7ebec9.jpg

The needle nose pliers have are serrated on the inside of the the need nose. On the base are the initials CM and on the bottom of the needle nose is a wire cutter. The pliers are spring loaded and feel nice in the hand with good tension. The handles are rubber coated in black and red.
3c2435e82e660ef0b6ac332a0815f036.jpg

The wire cutters are spring loaded and sharp. I can cut Clapton's or Aliens with just the tip. They have a good tension and feel to them. The handles are coated in red plastic. The back side of the cutting blade is flat so it's very easy to get a flush cut when trimming down your leads.
b76584f9e88fead3404dc3bd17552154.jpg

The bent nose tweezers seem strong and very pointy. Perfect for combing out your cotton after you wick your coil. They are also great for placing your cotton in the wicking holes or ports. I love using the rounded edge on the other side of the tweezers to strum my coils. This is probably one of the tools you will use the most in this kit.
114b26a4779081efaa61ec357f0c56f3.jpg

The ceramic tweezers seem to be of very good quality. They have a nice tension and feel to them. The are great for pulsing your coils when you are looking for hotspots. I also use these to strum my coils as well.
116d4fcad874c7afe1fe85b31269b8d0.jpg

On the other side of the case we have the foldable scissors. I’ll be honest I am normally not a fan of foldable scissors. Most of the time they are cheap and don’t really cut well. Not the case here, these are pretty sharp and cut really well. To be honest though I wouldn't mind having the same size scissors with the same sharpness and cutting ability in a non foldable form.

Next we have a roll of 24 gauge kanthal. It’s 10 feet in length and the wire seems to be super clean. I would have rather had a little coil box for miscellaneous coils or grub screws but this is a nice touch and it would be handy in a pinch. If you use all the kanthal you could always spool some of your own wire on it so you always have some wire in your kit.

The Hex T tool has three different hex sizes on t that will fit most modern atomizers. It will work on atomizers with 1.25mm, 1.5mm and 2mm hex screws. Its black with some Coilmaster branding and the tool itself seems solid. Definitely a great little item to have in a DIY kit.
3fb17968f526f4bc78c49cd4e9534bd1.jpg

The coiling rods come in the following sizes 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0mm. They are really smooth and machined very well. The are kept in a rubber red square that has a cut out for each rod as well as a cut out for a blue hex screwdriver. The rods are used in conjunction with the Coilmaster tool. Simply insert the correct rod into one end of the tool, run you wire through the end, insert the tool so the nub on the end of one side catches your wire. Start turning and you will make a perfect coil every time. It’s a great tool that will help the beginner coil perfect simple coils.

Now for the star of the show. The Coilmaster 521 Tab Mini. this is a great tool and a must have for the builder. You can screw down the base of your atomizer and build right on it. When you are done you can fire your coil on it and check for hot spots. You can also check the resistance as well. The Tab Mini will fire as low as .01 ohms and has a gold plated 510 connection. It takes a single 18650.

But Deuces, How Is It In Everyday Vape Life:

I really like this kit and use it everyday. It has everything a builder needs to start coiling and vaping. It’s well organized and the tools are of good quality. I do not use the coiling jig a lot because I tend to buy more exotic pre made coils for myself but if I was making my own simple coils I would use the tools on that side of the kit a lot more. I like using it and it's a very complete kit. Definitely Deucesjack approved.

Conclusion:

If you are looking to get into building buy this kit. There are a lot of cheap copies floating around but in my experience Coilmaster makes the best all in one kit in this category. Especially when it comes to the coiling tool. Coilmaster just makes the best jig when it comes to that. I have the first version and I can tell you that they have definitely upped the quality of the tools in this version. The 521 Tab Mini also fires lower than the original 521 Tab which is a huge plus since a lot of us vapors are building lower than we were than say a year or two ago.

Nice review ... the only thing I might also like to see is an estimated cost ... did I miss that somewhere?

Nice review, as usual, Jack. I have the first version of their DIY kit and really think its the best $50 I spent on accessories.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words. No you didn't miss it. I tend not to discuss price in my reviews unless its an extreme value or the price point is very high and needs justification. It is available here for $49.95

https://www.coil-master.net/product/coil-master-diy-kit-v3

I would highly recommend that anyone looking at this kit buy it directly from Coilmaster or at the very least a trusted vendor because there are a lot of fake kits floating around out there.
