Steel Punk clone – fun little mod

Saw the Steel Punk clone at 101 and could not resist. It’s surprisingly well-made, especially considering it’s about $50 shipped. Excellent threading on the 510 connection. The fire switch (which is rather unusual) is pretty comfortable to use. I’m sure the wood casing of the original is nicer, but the wood on the clone looks good and is nicely finished. Fit and finish of the brass top and bottom caps is very good. The only piece that feels sort of cheesy is the battery cap. It’s plastic and rather thin plastic at that.

Hits very well -- no complaints at all about performance.

While a 22mm atty would look best on this, it’s workable with a 30mm atty. The pic is with a tobh clone (29.5mm if I recall correctly) and it doesn’t overwhelm the mod too much. I’ll mostly use it with a 22mm topper but it’s possible to go big without things looking too much out of whack.

Love vape mail days!!

Really like the look of that thing.. wonder how it compares in size to some other box mods like the mvp / vaporshark

Nice....does it use a Single battery 18650?

Yes -- single 18650.

In terms of size, I sold my MVP recently so I can't compare them side by side, but if memory serves, the Steel Punk is narrower, about the same height, and much deeper -- it's 31mm across the top plate.

I ordered this a couple days ago, so it should be here in the next couple days. I wanted a Slug since the day I laid eyes on it. Great looking piece. I also ordered a gold Taifun clone for a topper.

Got this in today, and yep, it feels like a winner. Hit's fairly hard, fit and finish looks good, etc. The floating pin is a little tight, but you can push it just a bit with a screwdriver to get it to make contact, and I bet it will wear in pretty quickly after a few days use.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I got my Slug clone earlier this week.

I've been using my tobh on it, but this evening I'm going to look at attys to see if I can find one that looks good on it.

Good looking suggestions for both drippers and tanks are welcome.

Anybody here know where I can buy a bottom cap for my Pegasus? Preferably from the US. Don't want to wait for FT unless I have to. The lock ring froze. Thanks

I think the Brass Kraken looks good on it as well as the gold patriot. You should also search online there are some brass TOBH caps

I've used a variety of drippers on it, but what I use the most is the Igo W5 (also known as their "Jaws" model). The brass AFC is a nice match for the Slug, and with a brass drip tip it looks pretty good. Very affordable as well.

Very pleased with the performance, but it takes a bit of trial and error to get the wicking right for the three vertical coils.

this evening I went to my local B&M and took my slug. Being Friday evening there were several vapers present. The general consensus was I have a very cool looking mod that vapes very well. While there I bought an Enigma V3 clone that I will build tonight and put on it for now. It's a pretty brass dripping atty, though it's shiny to match. I will take a look at the IGO as I should be getting an ebay/paypal credit soon.

I finally got around to building the enigma this evening. Got it all set, popped it on my slug and the two will not connect. Neither pin is adjustable and apparently never the twain shall meet. :( (I think I got that paraphrase wrong). So I'm running the Tobh on the Slug for now. The enigma is on my Nemi. Shame because it hits really well.

The 510 pin on the Slug is adjustable. Remove the battery and poke a wooden dowel (or anything with a flat top) into the Slug and push up the connector pin. You'll want to shine a flashlight into the battery cavity before you do that so you can see the target you're shooting for.

When you screw in your atty the pin will be pushed down and you'll get a flush fit and a connection. I have to do that all the time when I switch between certain atty's since some have long 510 connections that push down the Slug's pin too far for it to connect to an atty with a short 510.

Thank You!

I was looking for it to screw in or out. I had looked in there but it didn't occur to me to just push it. It's now all pretty. Plus the Enigma isn't leaky like the Tobh. :D

Has anyone had problems with the brass 510 connectors as the attys are usually a harder metal or stainless steel

So far I've not had any problems with the 510 in 2 months or so of use.

Got mine today, I got the 2nd version from FT, the brush or dull Brass, not the shiny one. Damn, it's nice, wood and Brass are perfect and boy is it heavy. I like the fire pin and seems to hit well. Have not put a dripper on it yet but an Aerotank to check it out. Later today when I get a chance, I will try a dripper, but so far, I am as happy as a Clam. mmm, are Clams really happy??????
Well, I am..... :)
