We'll have to go see what hey have. Don't see them on their web site.

Yeah some stores don't have them, since they're not "cloud chasing huff tops".

One of my greatest joys is walking into a vape shop with a 40-75w mod with an RDA on it, and then vaping my lil wispy clouds -- they all get that "doggie head tilt" thing like they just can't understand, is something wrong with my vape? :giggle: Not everyone wants to vape whipped cream! I'm pretty sure my son doesn't either; he mentioned seeing some vapers exhaling what he called "obscene amounts of vapor", and how ridiculous he thought it was; in fact it almost put him off the whole idea, until he saw that my vapor more closely resembles what a smoker exhales -- which looks a lot more normal!

I might have to get my bike out tomorrow afternoon so we can make a run down and look at some stuff.
Hi, I am new here, so I hope I am not intruding.... When I started vaping, it took me a while to figure out what was going on, and I was on my own. I found out my biggest problems were airflow and temperature/power. Not enough airflow, and it was like sucking on a stick; too much airflow... way too much vapor. Also I was using EGo's, and found I was using too low a resistance coil, so the vapor tasted scorched. and burned my throat. With careful adjustment of power (much easier with VV/VT) and airflow, I was able to get a very satisfying vape. I have helped others who swore they couldn't vape, just by teaching them those tricks.
Have her try a more restricted air flow at the lowest power and and work up from there. I am not familiar with your rig, but on my iStick 30 with sub-ohm coil, I use the lowest airflow on my Nano Protank at 8W. That's as low as it goes, but it's a cool vape, not a lot of vapor, but good flavor. I am not much into cloud chasing. I use 100% PG

The rig she is using is a Smok V8 Baby. It is a stick type with auto sensing that adjust for the coil being used. The only adjustment you can make to it other than airflow is changing the coils out to a lower or higher ohm. It has a Baby Beast 3ml tank and core set up on it.

I talked to her about changing the drip tip to one with more restriction to see if that would help. She told me to let her figure it out for herself. She has adjusted her airflow and is playing around with how she hits it. Pretty much what everyone new to vaping has to do. Seems to be working. She made it through a tank yesterday incident free. She said she had thought it was going to be like the Joyes we tried 5 years ago. Skinnier pins with a tighter airflow and they aren't. So she is making adjustments. Currently has her airflow halfway and working on how she hits it.

Welcome BCBuch and congrats on quitting. How you liking the Smok so far?

Now I can answer that a little more objectively. Been 7 days, 8 hours, 9 minutes and a few odd seconds without a cigg or dip. So The 2 Smoks I have have been my ladder out of that pit. The V8 Baby I bought first has done me well. With the Baby Beast on it, it tends to hit a little harsher than the V8 with the Big Baby on it. Not really sure why that is. Best guess I can come up with is the size of each, the size of the drip tips, having something to do with the air flow. Who knows might have something to do with the extra 1000 mah in the V8's battery. Both are still running the stock .15 coils. That actually kind of surprises me. I 've put probably 50 ml of 70/30 VG/PG through them combined. I have probably used the V8 Baby a little more because I have only been using one juice in the V8 and didn't want to mess the flavor of it up. The V8 with the Big Baby on it is kind of a juice using system. Somewhere between day 3 and 4 I kind of transitioned to DL from MTL. Was just one of those things I noticed I was doing. With the V8 and the air flow set about half open and the wider drip tip I get big cloudy, comfortable, tasty vapes. On the Baby V8 set the same way I have to be a little less aggressive when hitting it or it will hit the throat hard enough to make my cough reflex kick in.

All in all I'm very pleased with both of them. Knowing what I now now though if I hd it to do over I would have just bought 2 of the V8's instead of getting the V8 Baby. It is just a much smoother vaping experience. I was thinking about getting a G150 but have kind of put that on hold for now because I honestly don't think that it will out perform what I have the V8 doing. We are currently looking or a new single coil setup for my wife's V8 Baby. When we get that one figured out I will probably take the Baby Beast from her's and find me a 80 to 150 box mod to put it on.

Its going to be a learning curve. Know exactly what shes talking about. Been done with cigs for 4 weeks now. Started with gas station cigs. Flew threw that into a better e cig then went to the v8 stick like you two and killed my self for a couple days till i figured it out. Then went to alien mod. (needed the bat life) now upgraded to the tf-rta g2 on the alien. My mother is still on the better gas station one and kills her self with my mod when she tries. She still smokes cigs though.. I wont even try hers kills me instantly. Its like trying to suck a straw with ur finger on the end.i would try q2 coils instaed of m2 coils for the stick v8 for her its a totally different vape more like cig.harder to kill oneself. Wish you two the best of luck! p.s. v8 stick is 30- 45 wat at 3.7 volt so you are limited to a couple coils that work right on it.

I thought about trying the Q2s but they are for a variably input mod. The M2s for the V8 Sticks direct input. Read to much already about issues with the Q2s and x4 not working right on the sticks. Don't want to mess the sticks up because they actually work work for me.

As far as my wife goes it is just matter of finding something that she is comfortable that works for her. There are still some places you can pick up the Aspire Premium Starter kit for less than $50 with a Nautilus Mini on it. Short of somehow screwing the battery from the stick up I also thought about just yanking the Baby Beast of it and replacing it with a Nautilus 2. Also looking at a couple of other starter kits aimed at MTL beginners like Vaporesso Drizzle or Joyetech Ego Aio. End of the day it will have to be something with a close to normal cigarette resistance when hitting it and with mild to no throat hit. So I figure it will have to be able to have 70 to max VG vaped in it.

I don't know how it is where everyone else lives but cigarettes here are 5.30 plus a pack and dip at least what use runs up to 6 something a can. So I understand the saving money thing. Then you take into consideration that your house, vehicles, clothes, breath ect will quit smelling like shit and there is the added health benefits. I'm thinking it is a win win change.
Even if vaping ends up costing more ,it's still worth it. To me vaping was not about saving money, well maybe a little, it was more about improving my health and quality of life! Welcome to forum and congratulation on making a very important decision.

Vaping, especially STL is very different than smoking. My wife coughed at first and I noticed due to the increased airflow she was holding the fire button down and taking slow pulls, on a regular cig you would get less, but with the vape that makes for less air being mixed in/more concentrated vapor. I had her try opening the airflow, taking faster draws without holding the button down as long; this fixed the issue until she got used to the vape.

You're right, of course, even if it winds up costing more, but I'll bet as time goes on, he'll start making his own juice. Oh MAN what a savings! Since I was a 3 pack a day smoker, I vape constantly. But, since I am not chasing clouds, I use surprisingly little juice. Even so it adds up. Even using EGo style coils I was saving a bunch of money (510 ceramic coils seem to last forever). But, at upwards of $10 for 30mL of fluid it was still a little expensive. I started making my own 10mg/mL, in 500mL batches. According to my mix calculator, it costs me $11.33 per batch. A batch lasts me 2 - 3 months. Considering I was sending $200/mo up in smoke, there is hardly a comparison.

Actually Dave I've all ready been looking at DIY juice. Just shopping for the best place to buy the stuff I need. Also thinking about selling my Cisco lab to fund that little project. I figure I can put me a small refrigerator in my office and a small desk to work on it. The stuff I'm vaping is decent but at 17.50 or so a bottle I know I can make it a hell of alot cheaper and it will taste better. At least it will to me.

There are LOTS of places to buy ingredients. Some can be a little rich. I have gotten good prices and good service from RTS Vapes. BTW, here is a good little, easy to use spread sheet calculator.....

I save the spreadsheet to my tablet. I will give it a looking over when I get home this morning. Got about 3 hrs to go and then a 50 minute drive home. RTS give me one more place to look, I was looking on NicVape earlier. Had somebody suggest migvapor and let them mix it for me. I don't think I'll pay retail to have someone screw something up for me that I can do all by myself at home.lol

The Kanger Tech SUBVOD starter kit with the subtank nano helped me to finally quit. It can be used mtl or dl and it has 3 wattage settings. It doesn't have the vapor output of the Big Baby, but might be what she needs. After a year and a half, it's still my preferred tank along with the toptank mini however, now I use a vw mod.

I actually had looked at the SUBVOD and SUBVOD 2. The problem I'm seeing with it is that it is basically still sub-ohm. The biggest difference between it and the Smok V8 Baby stick she has and it are the tanks.

Been looking at the Aspire Premium starter with the Nautilus mini on it. Showed it to her and it is familiar because of the egos we tried a few years back. She keeps talking about it. I have also considered just picking up a Nautilus 2 tank and putting it on the Smok battery, but it is basically nothing cost wise to by the starter kit vs just the battery.

Have also been looking at the Joyetech AIO D22. It looks like a decent system for a person starting out that will probably never be a direct lung vaper.

She keeps asking about looking at the Nautilus setup. though. So chances are we are going to go down Friday when I'm off and look at some hardware. She told me she will get serious about it in a couple off weeks after my eldest moves back out to go to college. Right now that is causing alot of stress which isn't making for a good environment to take up vaping and quit smoking. I really don't care what system she decides to use. That is up to her. I'm willing to invest what it takes into it for her to find something she likes and is comfortable with. The end goal here is to get off cigarettes and be able to enjoy life and have a few more years together, not take up a new habit in conjunction with, or to replace tobacco.

I understand. It can be hard finding the right setup. But once you do, it's amazing! I haven't tried the Nautiltus tanks, but I've read good things about them.
I know my husband was glad when I finally quit smoking. He's never smoked, but he's seen me struggle to quit many times over the years. He finds it amusing that I now make my own fluid. He calls it my chemistry set. :teehee:
Keep us informed on how it goes.

You might look at the eLeaf iStick series. I got the 30. They come in a variety of variable power, or variable temp models. Mine came with a Kanger Protank Nano. It came with both a 0.5ohm sub coil and a 1.5ohm coil. I was dubious about sub-ohm to start with, but at low power I get a cool. smooth vape that has really good flavor and doesn't produce too much vapor to handle. They have a 510 thread, so you could probaly use the tanks you already have. At low power, the battery lasts a long time, and of course, has vape-through-charge. It's not nearly as big as my Innokin MVP's. They really aren't all that expensive either.

We went to the the shop today. Picked up my wife the Aspire Premium kit with the Nautilus mini. Spent a bit more than online but I don't care. If it works for her I'm good with it.

Congrats, too, on the Aspire Premium. I have seen a couple of reviews that like it a lot. As much as I vape, the battery would be to small for me, but by all accounts it is a great little kit!

I started with the V8 Baby Stick and bought the V8 stick the next day. The V8 in my opinion is the better of the two. I ended up buying two Smok G150's. You get a better vape with the G150 than the V8 stick, more control, and a 4200 mah battery that will last all day. They come with the Big Baby Beast with a Q2 .4 ohm installed and an x4 .15 ohm spare. The G150 kit comes with the o ring/gasket set, a spare tank glass, usb charging cable. With the G150 you get watt and temp control options. You also have a wider range of coils you can use. I ended up getting the G150 kits online cheaper than buying the V8 Stick at the local shops. They were actually cheaper than the Baby V8 sticks were at the local shops. My V8 and V8 Baby have sat on the shelf in my office since getting the G150 kits. I did pull the Baby Beast off the V8 one night and put it on one of the G150's just to vape up the juice that was in it.

A con in some peoples eyes when it comes to the G150 is the fact it has an enclosed battery. That wasn't an issue for me since both of the Smok sticks did as well. I work a lot out of my work truck. I have had an inverter installed in the truck and have a small power strip plugged into it. It makes it easy to plug one of the kits into one of the usb chargers I use for my tablet or other gadgets.
