My 26650's are in the charger to be topped off. And I have my Clapton coils. They are 26g with a 30g wrap. I got them with 5 wraps and they seem a bit on the small side. But the legs are long so I can make them a 6 wrap or maybe a 7. Soon as the batteries get charged I can update the firmware and start getting the settings worked out.:shades:

Firmware updated on the Slice. Took a couple tries to get it. Tweaked the door a little to tighten it up. So far I like it. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought xXx mode would do any wire. I tried to use it with the SS coils I got and it won't fire. Put it SS mode and it's fine.

You will have to get to know xxx mode, it will fire, you just need to figure out the adjustments. When in xxx mode... hold up, down and menu buttons to get into the fsk adjustment menu.

But for SS I just use SS mode, works very well and imo there's no need for xxx when using SS.
Here is a good baseline to start at for different wires.

I'm thinking a pair of https://www.imrbatteries.com/mxjo-imr-26650-3500mah-35a-3-7v-rechargeable-flat-top-battery/ and a pack of these https://www.advancedvapesupply.com/...r-430-10-pack-of-clapton-coils-26g-30g-430-ss in 6 wrap 3.0mil size. Some say the 2.5mil gives better flavor but I don't know about that. I've only been using TC for a few months or so. These will be my first SS coils.

Now that you have some coils in your vape kit you can wait 2 weeks on this but you can probably get 50 coils out of this spool...
https://www.fasttech.com/products/5134500 (great for dual coil builds or single coil in a small chamber flavor atty)
Or if you want a little fatter coil, dual core clapton
https://www.fasttech.com/products/5876100 (Great for single coil builds in a big chamber single coil atty or go really low resistance dual coil and chuck some massive cloudage with a 2+ cell mod;))

Thanks got it.. Just had to raise the FSK. This is the first SS coils I've used so it's a different vape. Don't know what I think of SS yet but I bought 10 coils so I'm going to give them a go with different flavors before I make up my mind. It's a 25g /30g wrap @ 0.4+ with 5 wraps. (3mm)

I don't know if this is something you guys would be interested in, but if you want a color on your mods that will be practically bulletproof, you might check on getting them powder coated. A lot of hot rodders and off-roaders use this finish for race and heavy-use parts. I know most of you are more concerned with the operation of a mod than a pretty finish. Just thought I would throw this out there as an option.:)

Powder coating is amazing and last forever and isn't even that pricy

The polished finish those guys did is amazing but for someone who wants a nice colored finish, it's a solid option. I'm waiting on payday so I can order a Slice if somebody has them in stock by then.

I'll probably have mine powder coated when it gets all chipped up. It's a doggone shame Hohmtech couldn't use the same kind of finish eleaf used on their iSticks. It appears to be almost indestructable.

Lol, it is a joke that goes waaayyy back to the beginning of the G2 thread. For the record there is absolutely no proof that different colored HT mods hit harder or softer than others. Lol. The red Slice is really red. Like a fire engine red.

Reading through the thread and saw this. That made me smile and brought back memories. Those were some funny conversations.

What temp do and watt do you all normally use? The reason I ask is I saw another mod set at 575F and 55 watts. I know I am lower than most at 400-420 at 42-45 watts but I set my slice at the same 575 and 55 and did not really see any difference in anything.

So I did a test. I didn't notice much heat difference but did notice better flavor for my strawberry concoction. Think I'll stay with it.

Depends on the coil and juice for me. I'm usually between 350-400°@50-70w.

Stripped the blue paint off of my Slice, but it still has a light blue haze in spots. I used some Circa 1850 paint and varnish stripper that was in the shop. Any tips for getting rid of the blue haze? Will acetone clean it of completely, or is it time for steel wool and buffing?

ETA:
I polished it up with the superfine steel wool and the light blue haze totally disappeared. Going to buff it tomorrow.

5 month update. Wrap is holding up, exposed paint on the edges is getting a little beat. Up/down button worn down to primer so they all came out for a dremel polish.

Nice wrap there fq.

Hit your pharmacy's cosmetic section and sample the black "matte" polish offerings (very light application). Get one of those multi-grade nail buffers. The roughest "buff" (not grit) on well set enamel will approximate the matte original finish. Microfiber buffers are excellent for retouching bare metal finishes from polished to satin. Work exceeding well for enamel and why they're used.. No luck so far finding a blue that resembles the original Slice color tho.

Good luck. :)

I'm actually thinking of tearing it down to strip the paint and polish it. Just for a different look, I think it's been half year now.
I'll probably paint the buttons to give it some contrast, will look into nail poilish... if it chips, it's easy enough to break it down and do it again with another paint.

QuadØ steel wool puts a marvelous lustre directional finish on the Slice. Much like the Cricket but nicely finer resembling micro grooving. Just need to make the uninterrupted time to focus and complete the process on the one I started. Really looks good raw and left alone develops a subtle industrial looking patina. Hand oils do smudge it though darkening the finish irregularly. So If I like the look I might test a matte acrylic sealer. Wonder if anyone's tried this on the base paint. Love the orig blue and wish I could keep one intact.

Enamel and a low temp bake to better cure it might be the answer for buttons. Easy enough to strip with acetone and detail with a Dremel. Wish folks would post more pics and ideas.

Good luck fq. :)

Yeah, without a clear coat I wouldn't like the smudges. That's why I am gravitating towards polished so I can just give it a quick wipe with a sunshine cloth every day or two.

Brushed with a clear powder coat would be nice and they are all over the place in los angeles. Could probably find a shop to throw it in for $5 when they have a run of clear going.
But then I'd be lured into a bitchin metallic blue

I'll definitely post a pic if/when I dig into the project

Can't complain much about this wrap…

IMG_1942a.jpg

Found one of my fountain pen blues matches the finish just fine for edge and contact nicks. This seems to fill in the pitting and not wear away as easily as other pen inks. Enamel on a pin point might do the job as well but it tends to accumulate rather than flatten like pen ink. One saving grace.

Polishing or fine brushed both like most of the other finishes I like will require some TLC. I don't mind it. Think with brushed though is it will resist acid smudging from hand contact better.

Good luck fq. :)

My phone's down so I can't do a picture. But if you're on the fence, do it while you can. I'm devastated, I'm overjoyed. One of my Slices had a horrible accident yesterday. I forgot to move it off the fender of the truck and took off with it yesterday. Saw it out the window and started to slow down only to watch it slowly slide off and under the front wheel! Not a problem, except the truck was a Kenworth. After all was said and done, scuffed up battery needing a rewrap, J-wrap ruined...........snapped on the cover and fired away. :bliss:When you hear the HT mods are tough, believe it.

Mine finally crapped out after quite some time. Goes into shutdown after a couple of fires.

Definitely feel I got my money's worth out of it though.

I found it last week. They had black only. I don't care but I didn't buy.

Right on.
They are a great mod, voltage is your limitation but I don't usually vape over 70w and with the single coil builds I prefer, it's probably only at 70w for 1/2 second and then regulating around 40w with a ~0.45 ohm clapton.

Dual cell box for everything over that but the slice is my out for the day mod.

I was thinking about that at work today, although I couldn't imagine on that being the issue.

Worth a try though.

Yeah, I wouldn't think so either. Sounds like something on the board got tired.

I'd certainly give it a shot before binning it though :)

need help here, my TC mode in khantal and ni80 not working at all but in nickel it worked smoothly..i already try to builds with pure ni80, clapton and twisted khantal with 3.5 dia and around 5-7 wraps...neither of them are working...

this is my step for TC mode:

1. reset my resistance when plugging new atty
2. set tc mod in xxx/khantal/ni (depend on my coil, but mostly im using xxx even in pure khantal)
3. set temp to 470 def F and my watt to max
4. set my fsk temp curve from low value

but it seems that my mod only work like in power mod and not controlling temp at all....what am i doing wrong here?

edit : i using ijoy exo RTA and pharaoh RTA for the atty

Lower your temp to 430F and set your FSK at about 3.2%, at 470 on most TC mods it would be burn your cotton. Adjust your FSK until you get the vape you want. It is also not necessary to set your watts to max unless you want a quick ramp up.

If you are one that cleans and reuses coils or let your coils go a while before changing, you will find you need to increase your fsk for the coil to vape properly.

This is one way I can tell how my coils are doing. I'm a little lazy on changing sometimes.

yeah i tried changing temp and FSK value but the problem is still there, when firing it is only wattage that rising to my set point but the temp no change at all so like i said the mod works like in power mod, not TC mod.

i max the watt beside for quick ramp but also so i can see if the TC mod works, when it works the power will cut off (getting lower wattage) to maintain the temp like it did when im using nickel coil in the same set up mod and atty

i always build new coil and not a pre-build

Your temp will not change. Only your watts will fluctuate holding the temp you have set.

One issue with xxx tc is the quality of the wire. If the wire is not good quality than the tc will not work correctly. It will not matter what fsk value you use. Although, you may be able to go very high fsk but I would not advise it.

What coil are you using?

Put it back to power mode and vape it. What is your watt level? That is a good pointer for your tc values.
