Getting sick of sweet vapes?

I love my desserts, custards and creams always been a fan of a sweet vape. BUT recently every thing seems sickly sweet. I think I'm developing a sensitivity to the sweetener. I'm currently vaping some fruity stuff for the first time and I'm finding those pretty sweet as well..Do I just need to switch it up or is this common? I'm not sure where to turn as these are the type of flavors I enjoy.

It's just like food, best thing to do is have an extreme opposite, I vape a lot of strawberry so my alternate vape is menthol whiskey, I vape a couple tanks and go back to strawberry lol others will chime in but that's what works for me

I like desserts, creams and some fruits, too. Everything I vape is DIY, I don't add any sweeteners, and I'm right there with ya Matty. Everything is tasting too sweet. I realize that our taste buds heal, or our preferences might change up, but I've even tried reducing the flavoring, some by more than half. Everything tastes too sweet anymore. VG is sweet on it's own, but I hardly use any because I'm sensitive to it.

I hear that - I'm thinking of experimenting with herbs and savory type flavors

Tastebuds took another turn recently and now even my old tried and true recipes are too much, and I am a died in the wool sugar freak

Yep, I'm vaping one of HIC's coffee-ish vapes right now that has cappuccino in it and normally, it's pretty strong on the coffee flavor for me. I'm thinking about adding a dash of the stronger espresso. I know that one ain't sweet, LOL. My tried and trues are doing the same thing, I know the recipes are good. It's very weird. Even the more tart one is super sweet for me.

Hmm, vaping a pickle - the image tickles me very much :giggle::giggle::giggle:

The actual taste not so much

Was thinking more cucumber and basil, something like that
Maybe a cucumber mint, go heavier on the cuke and lighter on the mint? Fiance got Cucumber mint from the vapemall (we don't DIY, yet) and it was pretty tasty, with the Cuke flavor and aftertaste of mint! It surprised the hell out of me at how good it actually was.;)

agreed with everyone else pretty much throw yourself a curve ball and try something sour or maybe even some type of tobacco or coffee like huck said, seems to reset the pallet pretty good.

Have you got into that Lava flow yet? Don't get me wrong it's still kinda sweet but I found it less sweet then other ejuice. I don't think I've ever tried a juice that's not sweet.....

I constantly switch flavors, but even then every couple weeks everything starts to taste to sweet and to similar to me. So I have a couple flavors that are completely outside my normal profile that I run one or four tanks of to hit the reset button. I kind of wonder if a couple rounds of mouth wash might help but I have yet to try it.

I saw one guy saying that breathing in a bag of coffee beans in a breathable sack a few times helped refresh the palate. Don't know how true that is like as I haven't tried it as of yet. I would advise you to maybe buy yourself a small diy juice kit with a few flavourings from an established flavour you like and try mixing some up yourself without sweetener in. I came up with a flavour recently that was put together with all the leftover flavour concentrates I hadn't utilised yet and came up with something sublime, to me and the people I make juice for like. It's easier than you might think with a little help from the interwebs

I have spiced egg nog I vape when I get tired of sweet. It's a play off Hic's egg nog. I haven't posted it.

Yeah just really starting to get into that one now. At first it just taste like sugar but it's nicer now that I've adapted to it..Still not getting the full profile it's supposed to be strawberry,coconut,pineapple..just taste like..i really don't know. It's far from bad, it could actually be an all day vape. I think my taste buds are a little screwy for some reason. Maybe a blast of mint or something could help.

yes mint! HIC has a double mint gum recipe I love and super easy. half and half FA peppermint and FA spearmint. I usually do like 2.5% of both.... you do DIY also dont you Matty?

No DIY yet..but I just dropped a shit load of money on premium juice this month and I'm not crazy about any of them..DIY journey is inevitable.

You could try rinsing with mouthwash, I do it every third or fourth vape session. Can't prove it works, but I love fruit vapes all day every day and no problems yet.

There is a lot of good info in the diy section of this forum and other places around the internet. I started diy the third week of vaping, in general I enjoy it and recommend doing it. That being said it can be it's own rabbit hole. Check out the diy section here and over at ECF. And here are a couple links to check out that are relevant to the current discussion.

With teh money you spent on premium juice you could have probably bought enough DIY stuff
to last months including multitudes of failures

My on the cheap way to get started DIY
1 save all your bottles. clean them out. NO need to spend money on bottles even though they are cheap
2. go to the pharmacy or vet and get the liquid medicine syringes they give out for free they should have ml markings on them and you can get them free a lot of times - AFTER you figured out you like DIY and will invest more. get a <$20 scale on amazon and mix by weight that does grams to .01 accuracy
3. i know there is some place that gives out nic samples for like $2 bucks SOMEONE POST who this was - but you an vape without nicotine to see if you like the flavors. I never mix nicotine with my new flavors until i decided I like the flavor. But you dont have to go expensive NIC to be happy. I use CHemNic and Nicotine river which is about $60 for a liter of 100mg nic which will make at 6mg 16 and 2/3 liters of juice
Then pick something simple you know you like that is not complicated for me it was peach and mango
so I got 10ml bottles of peach and mango from CAP and FA and TFA. found out I like FA best order most of my flavors from fa but now really starting to like RF as well
4. get some VG and PG from wherever - once you have the extra money you go to amazon if you have prime and buy 2-4 gallons at a time with free shipping for cheap from essential depot

-then with that expenditure I had enoughjuice to last me a couple weeks. and then i started looking at recipes and ordering a liter of nic gallons of VG and more 10ml flavor bottles

so lets just look at nicotine river
Ok so 3 different mangos
5 different peaches
all 10ml
240mls of pg
240ml of vg
60ml of 100mg nic
with shipping $62 dollars
and i havent even shopped around
but thats enough pg and vg for almost half a lite (480ish ml)r of juice if you do 50/50
thats enough nic at 6mg to make a liter of juice aka 1000ml

And the flavorings could make up to a liter or so depending on percentages and trial and error etc but for a beginner you will most likely get at least 300mls of something you like just depends on your tastes. I hate CAP AND TFA fruits. They are candied tasting to me, I prefer fresh fruit

YES ITS REALLY THAT CHEAP TO MAKE YOUR OWN JUICE
the hard part is
1. figuring out what brand of what you like - so you buy multiples and get stuff you dislike until you find the one you do
2. figuring out do i like this better at 2% or 3%
3. does this flavor work better at 1% with 3% of flavor B and 2% of flavor C or flavor A at 2% Flavor B at 1% and flavor C at 3%

But even then half the stuff you make is vapable

so when you are ready look in the DIY threads
make a post of HEY i want to try DIY this is the flavor I am trying to make
and will someone please suggest which brands of flavorings to start with and suggested percentages and ratios
You will get answers

will be completely different pricing and availability living in Canada. I would be getting my stuff from dashvapes.com The nic they offer is 48mg and they only appear to carry 2 or 3 brands tops as far as flavorings go..6 bucks a flavor.etc. but still worth it in the long run I'm assuming?

Have you used ebay to find the flavouring concentrates you want? I used it to get some flavor apprentice when my local site, vapable.com, wouldn't allow me to add anything to the basket. First time using them like so I wouldn't know if they're the real deal but the ones I purchased all smell and taste lovely so far, very strong upto now so less being used in a recipe. that brings your total price down per bottle you churn out. I've tried inawera flavour concentrates and they're even stronger, something put me off them though as I watched a video on YouTube saying they haven't released any information about Diketones being present or not so as to give vapers full disclosure. I mean they were absolutely lovely flavourings but that information made me question why they wouldn't release any documents on chemical content. Vaping after all is supposed to be about harm reduction and it's the reason most people have moved towards vaping. So why not give us that information? Gone well off topic here like, just shop around. Type in "whatever company" flavouring concentrates into ebay and see who will deliver to you :)

Seems like the jackpot for diy for someone living in Canada..the only thing that could kill it for me is if I can't pay lol are you familiar with payment options at Bull City? No credit cards for me..

Depending on what flavors they carry at $6 per you would be money ahead paying the additional shipping from some places in America. I think your stuck buying nic in Canada but you should be able to source everything else globally. Also I would warn against considering diy strictly as a cost saving measure. You can save money sure, the nic/pg/vg is relatively cheap you can get a perfectly usable jewelry scale for under $15 and syringes (with blunt tips) are cheap and last a long time. But as I mentioned it can be a rabbit hole. So know going in you may not save money at all until your flavor stock pile is sufficient. It's all about self control at that point, I have none and this place is full of enablers lol.

just to give you my real world example
I vape 6-7 favors all day long
Im going to exclude one flavor because it is complicated and has 8 flavors from multiple vendors
so these 6 flavors
black licorice
hot apple
peach mango
brownie
rootbeer
cinnamon apple danish

ok
cinnamon apple danish
root beer
and
black licorice are all 1 flavor vapes

I use FA black licorice
RF brownie
and Chemnic Cinnamon apple danish

FA flavors are $18 for a 4oz bottle
4 ozs of that one flavor I use at 3% is enough for about 4 liters of that flavor

RF brownie
4 oz is $19 and I use it at 3% so 4 liters there

Chemnic Cinnamon apple danish
4 oz is $20
i use this at 10% so about 1 liter there

SO just those three flavors
$60 for flavoring to make 9 liters of juice
then
$60 for 100mg nic
I mix at 5mg/ml
so thats 20 liters of juice
so I need about $27 worth of nic

then i vape max vg but these numbers will hold for regardless of pg/vg ratios
right now essentialdepot has a special that they running right now and if you wait they run these specials about 4-6 times a yearthat are similar to this
4 -1 gallon conatriners any mix of pg and vg with free shippig $49

so I need about $29 worth of that to make my 9 liters

so $60 in flavoring + $27ish in nic and $29 in vg is $116
$116/9000ml .012 cents a liter
and I vape at most 15 ml a day thats 600 days 9 liters will last me

Now
go for a more complicated recipe
3% fa WHITE PEACH
2% FA PEACH
1% fa mango

so buy 3 4 oz bottles of white 2 of peach 1 of mango for around $100. that will make almost 12 liters of juice
so i need 3 gallons of vg to make 12 liters of juice so a bout $37 worth
and about $26 worth of the nic

thats $163 for 12 liters of juice at 5mg/ml or .0135 cents a ml
and that will last me at 15ml a day - 800 days

so for less then $300 i can vape 4 different flavors for at least 3 and a half years

why does anyone buy premium juice???????

I'm with you, Matty...I can't stand overly sweetened flavors either.

I DIY, but don't add a drop of sweetener to any juice. Seems to eliminate vapors tongue too...

its hard to enable me...
the last thing on here someone enabled me to buy is the limitless plus before that a griffin 22 before that a OG Crown

im cheap...very very cheap when it comes to vaping and its got to last and be better then what I have.

For example
i really wanted a nice PWM mod or hexohm these are $150-$300
i got 3 xohm dimeboxes once they were discontinued for about $55 each and they are my go to mods and will last for decades and i think they are better built and have better features then the hexohm

I trade around looking for a better rta or rdta - yet to find one
BTW i got a thread to trade a brand new used for la day sytheticloud alpine - looking for a aromamizer supreme v2 to try
so i stick with my griffin 22s a griffin mini and m limitless pluses (plusi)

so hard to enable me unless its a killer deal on fa that i need

Forget about buying nic in the US - it won't make it past customs. Sometimes flavoring doesn't even make it in. Not worth the effort plus the $15 US shipping cost from Bull City.

Best places for 100mg nic in Canada are The Broke Vaper in Ontario and DIY-ejuice in BC.

Both these vendors have tons of flavors to choose from too with DIY-ejuice beating out TBV by about 3 to 1.

Edit: you can pay by e-Transfer from your bank account - in fact, when you buy nic it's the only option for payment in Canada.
