First RTA recommendation

I've been vaping for just over a year with SuperTank mini and SuperTank 25mm as well have a cleito stuffed in drawer I didn't care for. I really enjoy the vapor and flavor production of the tobeco .2 coil vaping around 55w.

I want to get similar vapor/cloud production from an RTA and get more flavor then the supertank and get started into the RTA RDA world. But I have no friends that are into vaping so looking for a good beginners tank maybe even a single coil option. any recommendations on tank for a noob to start learning on? I have looked at the merlin mini (wish they had extender tube), Kylin, Ammit, and serpent.

Also any recommendations on premade coils as I would like to start with those and then start making coils for it but would like a good baseline to what a decent premade coil performs like compared to what I make.

do you want a single coil or dual coil rta
or one capable of both

my personal opinion is get yourself a griffin aio rta
comes with a velocity deck, possibly the easiest deck to build on. and it comes with an easy to use single coil deck as well
plus if you choose to late ryou can buy other decks for it to experiment

The smok spiral takes pre made coils but comes with an RBA base, the flavour is fantastic. My sweet spot is 25 watts with the RBA but you could easily go too 50 watts if you wanted too :)

For RDAS my favourite is the tsunami RDA. I can't really give any suggestions on RTA'S cos I use kayfuns which are MTL ones an would be no good for your 50 watt vaping.
I'd second the Griffin too, very easy to build on as he said.
Sorry I couldn't help with RTA'S, I only vape at 15 watts with them!
But spiral tank is definitely a good start, the RBA base comes with a preinstalled coil & you just wick it.
It's still my most used tanks out of everything I use.

My favorite right now is the OBS engine nano. Single coil, 5ml capacity, top airflow, no leaking and decent flavor. I have a few RTAs and this is the one I go to now. I can put it in my pocket and go with no worries about leaking which is big with me.

Ditto for Engine Nano. Have several and had been daily driver since release. Also a good 1st rta is Serpent SMM. Both easy to build and wick. Watch vids on youtube. Nano 5ml, SMM 4ml, both single coil and can accommodate pretty much any type/size of coil. I buy my prebuilt coils from Advanced Vape Supply.

not my first choice as a first rta but its a good one
you have to practice getting the chimney back on. It can be a pain at times
If I remember you can squeeze some 3.5mm ID claptons in this but its super tight. 3mm or smaller will be a good ID to use until you get the hang of it

just be sure to check that the coils are not touching the chimney when your done. so be sure to test fire it on a something that you can tell if it is shorting because the wires are touching the chimney

Doesn't the engine nano take pre made coils as well??

Yes it does of course but one slight con using premades is that the deck has staggered post holes which work best when the coil is wound counterclockwise. I make my own using SS fused Clapton wire from AVS.

I have no problems using prebuilt coil in Nano. Have used my builds as well. Only few seconds difference to adjust. If I forget to wrap counter clockwise I still use coil

Was just pointing out a little nit picky thing. I like everything about the nano. I have 2 and just ordered 2 of the dual coil Engine as well. If I want to go extreme I can use my Augvape Boreas...

Have the dual also. Not as good for flavor but still enjoy it. Been benched for awhile. Too many rta's going! Getting ready to order couple tanks with drop in coil option. Want at least one tank I don't have to wick!

I have a couple of those too. I think I can find them under the layers of dust they've gathered. I do keep them for travel purposes.

I like drop in coils for on the go, I carry spare batteries an a spare coil & then all I have to do is change the coil.
Don't wanna be re wicking or recoiling if I'm working, that's why I mainly use tanks with RBAS then I get the best of both worlds :) my RTA'S don't see much use nowadays, and only got one RDA.
I find dripping a hassle but I love the flavour of the goon, it's on my wish list an best one I've tried. Blows my tsunami at the water. My mate who owns a vape shop let me try his penguin today an fucking hell I was impressed. Has good reviews for good reason! I'll be recommending it too people new to sub ohming who don't wanna mess with VW

I think I'm behind on the rta scene. My go to rta's are the Merlin mini and griffin 25 mini. Haven't tried any of the new stuff

I get so tickled when vape gear is considered out of date before it's a year old.
Right. As soon as I get something it's out of date so when I find what I like I try to stick with it. My favorite subohm tank is still FreeMax Starre Pure (way old lol) but it does everything well with awesome flavor so I have a few and that's what I use along with rtas

I have a couple Pure tanks. Had to bench them, they were a real pleasure for awhile then out of the blue started giving me dry hits. Figured out the air bubbles were getting trapped in coil. Had to tip it every couple hits. Got annoyed when other started doing the same thing. Even bought new coils in case I had clones. No good, same problem. Switched to rtas.

Mine are working well and I have a few and a large coil stock so I'm sticking with them for now until the urge hits...lol

What's odd is that I bought them from different sites. Even tried thinner juice. Got 3 hits then, but ugh throat hit. Have some coils left will probably take out for spin again some day. Great flavor.

Haha yeah. I consider them old when people stop talking about them. I have no reason to spend money because what I have works great.

i use a griffin 25 mini all day long and its great
you know whats better and older - the griffin 22
you can fit slightly larger coils in the 22 versus the 25 mini
i use 3 - 22s and 1 25 mini and 2 limitless plusi

I definitely believe in using what works too, another reason I believe that people should stick to what they like rather than believe reviewers who are full of shit.
There is some honest ones out there but just cos a reviewer says something isn't shit doesn't mean it will be. Same goes as when they say something is amazing.
I mean aspen alley vapes says that the Smok spiral has same flavour as the NautilusX. In my honest opinion the spiral tank blows the X out of the water!
Also people saying that using rebuildables will always give better flavour than tanks, when in fact the big baby & Freemax fireluke actyally give better flavour than some RDA'S I've tried.
People should be able to have an opinion without someone going "read sub forums on rebuildables"
Using what works is alot better than trying loads of setups you don't like :)

Sherman, 30mm Modfather, Kylin are my favorite rtas rite now. Buying cheap premade coils isnt a good representation of what your tank will be able to do. I build my own but if i were to buy Id go through someone like this:
https://www.purecoils.com/
Or any of the awsome builders that are on here like bd builders.

I actualy use 2.4 ID coils the most on any of my builds, but I actualy just grabbed it cuz of how cheap it was and I saw some decent reviews that said realy good flavor so I snatched one up.
I mean I used the kanger sub tank plus a lot back in the day and I loved it but after that I dident realy use rta tanks or rebuildable decks for tanks at all so I figured hey why not give it a try.
Thank you for the tips by the way too, I always apreciate good info.

Just got my first RTA in the past couple weeks, Vandy Vape Kylin. So far it's been a learning process, but I do love it! I ended up getting a local connection to build me a pair of Aliens, and it's been going well. No significant leakage, but if I don't stuff the shit out of it, I get some sweating at the base. But wow the taste lol!

I got one recently too and love it for flavor! For the best wicking i found it likes 3.5mm coils. Wick it just tight enough so she doesnt pop and comb lightly. Perfect flavor no leaks.
