How do eGo-T atomizers work?

I'm talking about these things, with an atomizer at the bottom, a small tank at the top, and a connecting cone in the middle:

ego-t_b_type_atomizer.jpg

I've never tried one, so I'm trying to understand how the user controls the feeding of the atomizer - if it's possible at all.

My understanding is that the bottom end of the tank has a tiny hole in it, and when the user draws a puff, the partial vacuum pulls juice out of the tank through that hole. Yes, but... what happens if the user doesn't draw hard enough or draws too hard, the juice is too thick or too thin? If the juice doesn't feed properly, can you force it out of the tank with a hard suck? Or in other words, does it give you some control over how much juice is fed to the atty?

I've always had the feeling this system only works well when the stars are aligned - i.e. with he right vaper and the right juice - which is why I've stayed away from it up to now. But I'm looking into it now because I've found this atty: the Metis atomizer from Electra Pipes in Germany:

metis-15-mm.jpg

This thing looks like an A7 with a skirt that accepts eGo-T type A or B tanks. Which means, I could use it as a regular dripper with the regular 510 drip-tip skirt (and I like the A7 anyway), and I could switch to the eGo-T tank skirt to use hands-free when I drive, for example.

It's not really what I want. What I want is a good pump-action tank dripper, but that either doesn't exist, or it's way too expensive. The Metis atty might be a good compromise, provided the eGo-T tank system works, which I'm far from certain, particularly with my thick VG juices.

Can anybody share their experience with eGo-T atomizer tanks?

I used to have one, it was an ok vape, not great, but ok. It was a pita filling the cartridge, plus thick ejuice didn't feed well.

Thats the system I used to start vaping. Worked like a charm for me. They have gotten better over the years.

Wow - i actually still have a couple of those. I think i might have used it once or twice and moved on. It seemed to sap all the flavor out of the juice IIRC. Not great vapor or throat hits either. Very glad it worked for VaporJoes however - to our great benefit!

I moved on from those as well. Not enough vapor or throat hit and they leaked on me. I love the TS3 tank though. It's a cheaper alternative that I've had lots of luck with.

Well, as I said, that system never appealed to me for some reason. But I thought it might be cool to have a regular dripping atomizer that could take a tank if the need arises.

The Vision Eternity atomizer sports the same kind of system, but it looks awfully complicated for what it does. At the end of the day, the only time I really can't drip is when I drive, and keeping a simple clearo and passthrought setup in the car seem to be a good enough solution...

I never had a lot of luck with the darn things.

Tanks are finicky and the flavor seem muted. I always had better luck with the clearo's.

Perhaps you could look at the Reo mods?

Giraut,

I just got the Vision Eternity this week...haven't used it yet...mainly got it because it was on sale at ecigexpress. I will post back with my impression when I try it out this weekend.

This is outdated technology. I had a similar system back when I had a cigalike 510 battery.
I don't even know if they make them anymore but they had
blank cartridge things you could fill and stick in a 510 atty.

This was my first set up.

Ok found one

Here is the tank

How-to-Fill-eGo-T-Tank-23111_200x200.jpg

Bottom of tank is a rubber or plastic gasket...the coil is below a knife edge (the coil holder) that pierces that grommet, the juice then flows to coil and you vape like normal, the air flows up and around the coil so you can get your vape)

egot_typea_disassembled.jpg

Simple diagram explaining how the airflow works with these

After the tiny first generation ecigs (the ones that looked like analogs). I immediately moved to the Joyetech eGo's, the first one had a sponge on a cylinder that would wet the atomizer and then moved to the tanks which did the same only that you could hold more eliquid. Once the atomizer failed you had to buy the whole atomizer system. The system eventually was not cost effective and by the time the eGo-C's came along with a replaceable atomizer section, most of the people had already moved on to more affordable quality systems.

Built like a tank. Solid SS not aluminum, although I think they make an aluminum one (and a gold one?). I made a few minor adjustments, drilled out the airhole on the side a bit and bored out the mouthpiece hole on the tanks a bit. Works great!! I own 2, and it's all I use on ego bats. You need the beauty ring for the ego threading. With those minor modifications, you can rock these at .5ohm (on a mech or box of course) if you really want to. Just need to get your wicking right. I use SS Mesh to feed the juice from the tank to the coil (through the spike). This was actually my first 'rebuildable'!!

I tried the Eternity, it worked pretty well for a day before the 510 threads broke off...then I got the bulli-smoker I posted above. Been going over a year and not a single issue.
