I'm glad my daughter is just 3, I can still pick her up and haul her away if all else fails :D

As for disease, technically they can get sick from germs Adults carry, but are immune to, so one could call adults disease carriers, also

The thing is, adults tend to keep their bodily fluids to themselves. Kids run around with faces that look like krispy-kreme donuts, and don't notice or care; they do that push-nose-upward maneuver 27 times an hour and then put those snotty little hands on EVERYTHING... and it sounds like that mom who visited cactuscutie wasn't bright enough to either wipe the kid's face and hands or keep the brat in her own lap.

When my son was a little rugrat, it was a habitual maneuver -- Dad: -- "go see mom!" Kid runs over... mom produces the sanitizing wipe from the diaper bag and proceeds to wipe the kid down completely -- everyone always commented on how he was the cleanest kid they'd ever seen -- there was a good reason for that! I have a deep aversion to seeing kids with a crust on their faces! (or a pacifier sticking out of it, but that's another story!)

It's one thing for a kid to look like that while still in the highchair... quite another thing entirely to go around all day with a face/hands like that.

Also I see so many teens that were never taught to pull their pants up when they were smaller.

I know. I've been trying to explain it to my mom, but she never listens and it's not my kid that's making a mess all the time so nothing I can do about it.

I read somewhere that kids get an average of 9 colds a year. Is that right? I don't have kids so I wouldn't know. Nine colds a year seems an awful lot but then again it seems like really small children are always sick and most (not all) with that gross Krispy Kreme coating going on all over their noses and mouths! :blech::xD: And yeah, they do share everything and aren't real big on hand washing and sanitation.

Bless those of you parents who are hyper vigilant in wiping that stuff off or teaching their children the importance of doing it.<3Good for you! I mean, it really is gross and you can't fault the kids because they're well.......kids. Kids don't give a shit about hygiene. I was a typical kid who would eat dirt and grass when I was playing outside until my mother stopped me when she saw it and then taught me better. I was just having fun. My mother was more concerned about dog pee or some hideous parasite I may be ingesting. (Buzz kill ;))

Normally I have the constitution of a horse which is why I'm pissed. I haven't been this sick in years. The worse thing I've had was a case of the sniffles that lasted 2 or maybe 3 days and a bad sinus headache during allergy season. Just sniffles and feeling tired. As soon as the temperatures and weather changed so did my sinuses. I was never laid up sick with the flu or a gastro-intestinal bug thing like I have now.

I hand wash incessantly, hose the house down with Lysol spray (kills 99% of the germs that cause flu) , and am an anal retentive obsessive compulsive neat-clean freak whose floors you can eat off and toilets you can drink out of. It is truly miraculous a germ even lives in my house let alone survives long enough to get me sick. I went insane with the cleaning when my neighbor and her little boy left. I mean the moment she left I went into a tizzy and white tornado mode with every cleaning product I owned that said 'Lysol' on it.

But even the healthiest person is going to get really sick when you bring a sick person, be they adult or child, over to visit and they are running a fever. Fevers are signs of a raging infection the body is fighting off regardless of it being a low grade one or not. It is contagious and whatever hideous disease that person has will spread.

Glad nobody thinks I'm an ass for wanting to ask the heifer to pay for the doctor's visit. I was worried that was a bit harsh sounding. I mean I don't work because I'm rich and bored and need a hobby. I also don't go to doctor's when I legitimately need to or should half the time due to the cost regardless of having insurance!

I go when I absolutely, positively have to or because I've missed work and my job says, "If you're sick enough to miss work then you're sick enough to bring us an excuse from the doctor OTHERWISE it is an unexcused absence which means you really weren't sick enough to miss work and you're getting a 'letter of instruction' put in your file for it." . (Yeah, that's a whole other :finger: topic.)

If she has an issue then I'll tell her she can keep her self and her child at home from now on. If she's bored and wants to just bullshit we can do that over the phone. That way if I get sick I can't blame my illness or subsequent doctor's visit on her or her kid. Right?

As for teens with butts they need to air out..................
Are there any great pics in magazines or on the internet of movie stars wearing belts or suspenders? Any way to make belts hip and trendy and the newest fashion trend? Every time I see one of those saggy-baggy panted kids I just want to go up to them and pull them down around their ankles. Then I want to take off my belt and go, "See this? See it? If you had one of these I wouldn't have been able to embarrass you in public."

Nah, i'd rather give those half-assed kids a raging wedgie. :giggle:

I dunno about most kids, but I personally suffered about 2-3 colds a year till I was probably teen-aged, and I think my son did too. Colds aren't usually a huge deal and don't usually involve a fever, but the complications of colds... gawd. I usually got a raging case of tonsillitis with every cold, until they finally yanked them when I was 17. My son on the other hand, who lived with an indoor-smoker till he was 9, then around a car-smoker who otherwise smoked outdoors, usually got bronchitis and had to get a nebulizer for breathing treatments -- you see why I'm so delighted that he was able to switch from smoking to vaping so easily! His lungs are doing fine now; he can vape 30/70 PG/VG, at 20-odd watts, without any issues; if I vape more than 15% VG, I'd be in the ER with an unstoppable asthma attack. I also vape at less than 10w, mainly because I require a tight draw to be satisfied, and that demands very low power.

I wonder, though; if your house is that forever-germ-free, you might be setting yourself up to be more sensitive to microbes. Most common microbes are harmless, or only mildly harmful, and encountering them is what makes your immune system strong -- I was surprised when I had my son, in 1988, that there was no longer any instruction to sterilize things, in fact it's advised NOT to, because kids need to meet those microbes so their immune systems toughen up. Gotta figure: breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed a newborn, and though it's always important to practice good bodily hygiene, human skin has LOADS of bacteria on it -- the friendly ones, usually, which we need to ward off viruses and digest our food and whatnot. Without those normal common microbes, no one would be able to fight off anything with naive immune systems. And trying to keep an absolutely germ-free environment is not only completely impossible, it also encourages the growth of resistant bacteria -- you will never eradicate them all, and the ones you don't kill will be stronger and will procreate that strength into their own offspring.

About the best that can be said about my own housekeeping skills is that I've improved a bit over the years, and I have good intentions. Other than that, I find it very easy to completely ignore any housekeeping that isn't directly related to cooking, dishes, and laundry. :D

Just 2 years ago, my gf and I were looking for a new hobby, and as we both liked boardgames as kids, we visited a gamestore and got Pandemic.

2 Years later, I've probably spent over $1000 on boardgames, most of my free time consists of surfing boardgames and playing games whenever possible.
Luckily, I got most of my friends into it, so it's a very regular thing now, and the most fun I've ever had, but just be warned...

That's awesome.
What a great and productive way to spend time and to spend time together with friends. I remember growing up in the 70s way, way, way before video games and computers and cell phones and anything 'electronic'. You know....when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and human beings 'talked' using their voices as opposed to their thumbs and just 240 characters and we had to interact face-to-face. Well, board games were one of the few ways we had fun. Know what? They're still just as much fun. Rock on and good for you for keeping the tradition alive! :bingo:

Oh......busy as shit and not ignoring you all but while I'm on 'tradition' and having fun..........HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL. Hope yours, whatever they may be, are good ones. :stars2::hearts::confetti:
Remember happiness is a choice so please decide to be happy.
Also remember the difference between relatives and family. Relatives always share your DNA but not necessarily your love. Family will always share your love but not necessarily your DNA. You may not be able to avoid spending time with your relatives but please be sure to make sure to spend some time with your 'family' this holiday season whomever they may be. <3

Family will always share your love?
Nice thought but not always true.

Assholes have children too.

True friends will always share your love.
Family is luck of the draw.

I agree with you.:vino: That's what I said (thought I said), was trying to say 'nicely'. Family is who you make it---usually your friends and others.

"Relatives", while not all bad and some people are very blessed to have good/nice ones, share our DNA.
We don't get to pick and choose them.
And yeah--sadly most of them are assholes.

Boss says, "Get back to work." Oh wait...I'm the boss. :p
Seriously, got work to do and need to stop procrastinating.
Have a good holiday with WHOMEVER you may consider family. :inlove:

Except for the weekends...
I once worked with a real piece of work jerk.
He went out of his way to antagonize people knowing we would not kick his ass literally because we would get fired.
Sumbitch had a habit of handling others food.
Under law that can be construed as assault considering aids, etc.
I had him brought up on charges.
Broke him of that and got him written up.
Cost him several hundred dealing with the charges which I refused to drop and he was recorded on surveillance camera.

I got lots of high fives out of it.
As a mater of fact I was a temp at the time and he was a full time employee.
I soon got hired full time and became the sumbitches boss.

I have a secret china teacup collection. I don't want any of my friends and relatives to know I collect them. When people know you collect something, all the gifts you get are somehow related to that thing. It's as if just because you like something, you must like everything that is even sort of related to it...

YES! I happened to mention to my mom how much I love Cardinals, they're so cheerful to see out in the gray of winter, and they're so feisty and funny to watch.... for the last 2 xmas's of her life, half the crap she gave me featured... you got it... cardinals. So, this being the first xmas we're observing since her death (we boycotted last year, just too close), I'm wearing a nice long-sleeved T with cardinals (looks great with my red pants!), there's a tablecloth on the kitchen table with cardinals, and the hand towels in the guest bathroom have cardinals. She'd be so pleased. :D

One other thing a lot of us are now collecting is time smoke-free, after being enslaved by the stupid things for years, decades. I noticed that today, which is my 3 yr 5 months no-smoke-a-versary, I hit 1250 days smoke-free... $7500 not spent on cigarettes... 25,000 not smoked. that is one hell of a christmas present to myself!!! :) :bliss::cloud:

I accidentally started to collect guitars. I have 5 at the moment but never refered to them as "a collection" until I had a few friends over and one wanted to "checkout my guitar collection". I just really like browsing through used sections at music shops and cant pass up a good deal.

Hi guys.
Awesome guitar collection Henry! No musical talent here; just a green thumb and lots of cacti. I do so admire those who have musical ability. What an awesome gift. What's your favorite type of music to play?

Andria........congrats girl! :blowkiss: Me, still struggling but then again haven't made much of an effort if I'm honest. That is my New Years Resolution. To quit the smoking 100% and just vape. Might as well as I only smoke about 5 or 6 cigarettes a day now. Stupid to smoke at all.

Speaking of New Years, I'll be super busy cooking and getting stuff ready as it is my year to host the festivities. So wishing everyone a super early and very happy New Year. :hearts::confetti::stars:(Please be safe. NO drinking and driving!) Best wishes.

I think that for some people, to consider it as "quitting smoking" is actually counterproductive -- it scared the hell out of ME, that's for sure, which is why it took a month to convince myself that it really could work and I really could do without cigarettes. Just think of it as "switching brands". :D You'll not only be healthier with the "vapor brand," but happier too! ;)

Seriously, I can almost understand why some of the ANTZ think we "haven't really quit anything"... because it does kinda feel that way, to have quit the coffin nails, yet not be suffering for it. 48 hrs of that and I was freaking amazed... and now, 3+ yrs later, I'm still freaking amazed.

Lately I've been collecting debt. Blew the motor in my wife's car, had to replace the motor for $1600. Dog needed emergency stomach surgery due to swallowing part of a chew toy, cost $4200. Now my truck broke down today, $140 tow bill plus whatever the shop charges me to fix it.

Currently unemployed. My Pickup's (Dodge Dakota R/T) tranny is blown, have to pay off my loan for my car, I had to get as a replacement.
In addition, having an "older" brother, that promised my Father (on his death bed), he would take care of my Mother, but gives a shit about it! She was in a Hospital for 6 weeks, and my brother didn't show up at all. A neighbor that offered to walk my Mother's dog came to visit, and she did take care of the dog.,Not to mention, it seems, he's living in my Apartment for free. My Mother is paying off my morgage on her own. I was expecting that my brother would at least help with that! Obviously, an old German saying, provides the truth.,"With money, the friendship ends"!

My wife unit always had the nice car and I drove the beater.
That's how it always is. The wife has to have something better and more reliable than the husband. I drive a 1988 chevy 1500 pick up. Loud exhaust, always breaking down, a little rusty. She's got an 09 chevy cobalt, I blew the motor at 100k miles, a couple weeks ago, put a used motor in with only 40k miles on it. It's like a brand new car. No rust, no dents, and interior is clean.

My beater is an 88 Toyota pickup.
Wife had a brand new Camry until some fool ran into her and totaled it and disabled her. She no longer drives, but has a nice 2001 Blazer for me to haul her around in and her power chair on the real hauler.

My wife doesn't drive anymore either. She's had a stroke over a year ago. She's still using a walker, her left arm, and hand don't "work" anymore. The only good thing is, that I'm a hobby chef. According to my In Laws, and friends a damn good one!

Walking is my wifes issue lots of screws and metal in her leg and foot.
And she never was much of a cook.
Wanted a nice stool for cooking in the kitchen. The stool remains virtually unused :(

:D My wife actually stopped cooking after the first time, I improved her grandmother's recipe for a vegetable soup. Therefore, I was cooking, and she would wash the dishes. Now, it's all on me, due to her stroke.
My mother in law always comes prepared. She knows we usually have a lot of left overs, so she brings containers, in order to take some food home.
