2 Tanks on 1 Mod

Hey guys! New vaper here and it’s only been a week, haven’t had or want a cig yet so it’s working hehe. My question here is, is it okay to switch back and forth between 2 tanks on 1 mod? Like one minute I’m using tank A and next minute tank B. Will that damage the mod in any type of way.

I have the Smok Alien 220w. The 2 tanks are the baby beast tfv8 and cleito 120.

Thank you in advance!!

Cool thanks for the reply! Sorry in advance but got another question. It seems like the baby beast is hitting me harder at 50w than the cleito 120 at a 100w. It makes me cough lol, is it because of the juice?

My mom has had the same thing happen to her. Check the ratings on your coils. The default Cleito 120 coils can go between 100 and 120 watts, and I think the default Baby Beast coils are best at 40 to 50, let me check my mom's Baby Beast and make sure though.

EDIT: The coils my mom uses say they're best at 60 to 110 watts. She's using the 4-hole coils though. Can't find a BB with default coils that she uses. (The defaults are 1 hole afaik.) The point of this is that if you go too far beyond the ratings, you may get a harsh hit and you will definitely shorten the lifespan of the coil if you do it too long. A few seconds won't hurt it; I'm talking about vaping continuously at a higher wattage than it's designed to handle.

Coil age also plays a role (they tend to hit harsher as they get closer to burning out), but I'm assuming these are fresh coils, correct?

I too am using the 4-hole coil and vaping at 55. Been using it for about 1.5 weeks so maybe that’s the reason why it’s harsher but then again I’m new to vaping and coughing is inevitable right?! lol
Thanks for your input appreciate it

I switch tanks on the same MOD sometimes 6-10 times during the day but you need to make sure the wattage or Temperature settings are for that particular tank or you will flame a coil. I swapped tanks once and the MOD did not automatically go to wattage mode and I fired a Nautilus Mini at 100W iin TC Mode. I found out instantly and the coil was actually smoking.

Most vape stores will reccomend you change the coil every few days, but my mom can stretch a good coil to about a week at most. I wish I could help you further in this area, but I only vape on RDAs, which work completely different from a normal "tank" atomizer. The only experience with tanks that I have is what my mom and my girlfriend have experienced.

That said, try a fresh coil on your Baby Beast and see if your problem goes away. It's quite possible your coil is about to go or has gone already. Pay attention to the rating on the coils; they're usually engraved on the coil housing. You also want to prime the coil before use. That's done by squirting a little juice on the exposed cotton on the sides of the coil. Take care not to get any juice in the holes at the top of the coil as well.

SteveS45 also made some good points. I've noticed a lot of people tend to forget that coils have different ratings and forget to turn down the wattage on their box when using a "weaker" coil. (And by a weaker coil, I mean one that's rated lower.)

Thanks for the help guys! I am on top of my game when I switch tanks...I am running on memory mode. M1 is 100w for the cleito and M2 is 57w for BB x4 coil. Usually when I remove the tank I will press the fire button once to make sure the mod says “no coil”. That way when I put in a different tank the mod will always ask if it’s a new coil and then I make sure I’m in the correct setting for each tank. Hehe I got 2 tanks so I can try all different types of juice faster lolol.

I just put in a new coil for the BB and same thing. I think maybe the Cleito overall just have a smoother hit is what it looks like. I like to thank you again for the help and tips, this forum is the best!

Smok coils are much more and tighter packed than other brands, hence they burn out quicker too and need special preparation when breaking them in.

The recommended wattage on those are never accurate either. But different coils and tanks will perform differently, you'll have to play around with it and find a wattage or temp setting you personally enjoy, not what smok or cleito or any other manufacturer tells you. Its a good guide line but that's about it. I've used in the past a ceramic tank, its recommendation was 40-60 watts, this thing wouldn't even get hot with that recommendation. Had to put it on 80 before it slightly produced vape, at the end ran it at 90-100.

Now you can't do that with the smok or you going to replace the coil every 3 hrs, however you get the point I'm trying to make lol.

For now using different tanks on your mod is fine, but I would recommend getting a backup. Out of experience I know that switching tanks every 5 minutes on a smok mod will lead to issues. The 510 isn't greatly made in these mods, nor is the chip. So keep that in mind, maybe stick with switching every day or so.
