Just a quick one and what ppl are thinking. I like spaced because you get a better flavour but all you see on coil builds are tight wraps. Why?

Many thanks

See for a flapton I can say I agree but for a fused Clapton spaced has always had a better Vape. it’s a rabbit hole lol

Hey this is a good question!
As a newbie I imagine as the coil vaporizes the juice you’d want space for the vapor to escape so spaced..
But I guess tightly wrapped coils prevents the spitback that would occur when the boil happens..
So if guess that sliver where it’s tightly spaced ?

Personally, I use both. Depending on the Atty, the juice, and the mod, I build the according coil.
More people need to see the big picture like you. There are many different variables that go into it. You can't really just say "spaced or unspaced" is better."

Build according to situation.

Just depends on the deck and the mod.
And the juice! I used to vape an excellent Vanilla juice, but it needed low temperatures, otherwise it would taste burned, or at least toasted. Another juice, I mixed myself, required lots of heat, in order to show it's true flavor.

Start watching european coil builds on the tube. Seems to be a regional thing, alot of europeans go for the spaced coil, north americans seem to prefer the tight wrap.

You can have spitback with either spaced, or tight coil(s). Mostly, the spitback is caused by the "wrong" wicking.

I can agree with that & realize too "wrong" is highly subjective. One day you may have more wick in a coil and it does fine, the next day you have to strip out half of the wick to control spit back, flooding. There are so many variables involved with vaping at times it gets to be humorous.

I agree with what your all saying because if you directly drip on to the coil has a massive impact so builds like you aliens/Mohawk staggereds and other big builds holds loads of the juice, wick-less builds have a different taste and sensation as well, was just trying to get a decent discussion over the variability of vapping I’m on my Goon at min but been using the Radar good flavour but massive spit back even with extra cotton and tighter wrap coils and leaks like a bitch.

You might get a lark from it but don't discount the effect of humidity on vaping. Barometric pressure, wind direction and speed can come to bear as well. Not sure yet if quantum quarks have any bearing or not. *puzzled expression* Would imagine they do. But you get that far gone in considering all the variables, might as well hang everything up. Got a good Zazen like koan regarding the variables.

Budi's Lesson

The Lesson of Budi

One day Budi, a young vaping monk, climbed the Misty Mountain to speak with Mu. Mu had been vaping since before anyone knew there was anything such as Time. Mu created the clouds in the skies the world over.

"Great master of the vape, how does one know a perfect vape," Budi asked Mu.

The great master sat in pause, contemplating for a few seconds. "One knows the perfect vape as one knows a perfect anything, ... by it's imperfection," Mu said.

With this Budi became enlightened and traveled far and wide conveying his new found light. Yet we many have neglected hearing the lesson of Budi.

You now owe me 10 ml of Bavarian Chocolate Cream vaping juice at 18 mg per ml Nictoine. No, just kidding you owe me nothing at all. :)

You said it, The world is quantised, so the mere presence of a measurable state shows the existence of Vaper

Practice, practice, practice...!

*makes the sound of one hand clapping, and scurries on through the gate-less gate* :)

I like tight coils as @Zohmbiebuilds first said. Though, I can also benefit in building to the situation. Despite seeming to be a relativist, there are some absolutes in my life. :) One is a promise I made to my wife's Pawpaw. I will always love his girl and never hurt her. Still have a genuine fear he would return and drag me off somewhere that I'd never be found.

Finding I like tightly wrapped Claptons, which albeit not what was asked is still part of that practice stuff. Need to get a new key-less chuck for the Daedulus. Silly me was not quite putting wire in the chuck correctly, ripped it up bad. I was shoving the wire all the way inside where it hooked the springs and fouled the chuck. Yep, know better now. :)

Sorry to hear! Errare Humanum Est (to error is human). Where do you think, you'll find a new chuck? (Just for future reference, 'cause I also own the Daedalus.)

I have to disagree with that. MOSTLY spitback is caused by a flooded coil. *to much juice on the coil, rather than held by the wick*
Well, that, and juice in your air tube *chimney* above the coil (on rta decks), which amounts to juice on the coil I suppose.

I'm new to all this but have a few ideas. Obviously, on a small deck with tight space a contact coil is needed (not much choice unless you use very few winds) One advantage to spaced coils is no hot spots (and they are actually easy to make even without a coil winding tool) I have used them on decks with wider spacing between mounting holes so I don't have to do bends on the legs to make them fit.
On a side note: I did have this idea of using smaller # gauge wire (thicker) and making a contact coil then wrapping larger # gauge wire (thinner) over it (in the groves) Inside wire would heat more (less resistance), outside wire would create more surface area and heat from inside wire would conduct to it also. I have an active imagination ;) Don't know if it would say together though (most likely sounds good "on paper" then try it and say "boy that sure was a disaster!")
