That 4 ni80 core alien with 28g ss316l staging and 36g ss316l decore. Ohms out at .28 and wrapped around a 5mm bit. Fair bit higher than the usual all ss316l Aliens with 3 cores. Might have to try a 5 or 6 core next lol. Till then, here's some colours. Proper bitch of a hot spot ruined the flawless colours for this build

If you find your wire is twisting in the opposite direction to the drill, where the wraps are going on, then it's too much tension in your decore hand. If you measure out the decore when you stretch it you will have a much easier time with this build. Just measure it with the cores you intend to put in. If that makes sense. Tell me if not though and I'll throw a pic up of what I mean

Any tips for keeping wire flat.been useing paper clips, could I be applying to much pressure on the De-core on the wrap

Take some thin wire and wrap it tight around the cores several times, and squish it with toothless pliers. Do that on the swivel end, then again up towards the drill end, make sure you can slide it (might be stiff to slide but that's good), and keep it close in front of where you're wrapping. That will slow the wrapping down but should keep the cores straight no matter what-

Or like KarmicRage said, if you stretch it enough before you start wrapping, the alien wrap will actually help keep cores flat!

I got my 500ft of 30awg today, so I'm gonna be trying some tiny core aliens next week *fingers crossed*

Unrelated to coils but I've just found this in an old building box. Must have been there over 18 months at least but it's still so clear. Homebrew like. Smells lovely still, don't know whether I should have a go, see what my old mixes were like lol. Smells like a lemon n lime

I have completely came full circle vaping. I stayed away from single battery mods, hated squonking, and was only concerned about the clouds and getting the most amount of nic in my system.

But man, that couldn't be further from the way I've been enjoying vaping. I absolutely love using bigger single coil builds.

I'm limited in attys so I've been making due with what I've got. I want an sxk haku so bad. I want to get into true single coil RDAs. It's much more pleasant even mechanical mods so long as the build is right you can get excellent single coil action.

I love and use the same build you just shower karmicrage. That stage build is only good on 3+ mm ID. For some reason anything smaller Burns and tastes like shit.

I can't say I've tried that staging on a small build yet but I can see how it might burn the wick in the areas where the round wire is. Well with the amount of power I run through a single coil anyway, probably about 120-140w, depending on the cores like. Haven't vaped that one yet, debating whether to throw that lemon n lime on there or the strawberry, guava and Lychee I mixed up a month ago like, decisions, decisions lol

Edit. Nice one @AnthonyLouis, I appreciate it :)

yeah man, theres good vapes to be found everywhere. i never understand when i see people saying 'i vape at 50w' or 'i only vape at .3 ohms', like picking a wattage or resistance has anything to do with getting a good vape out of a certain atty or mod. try everything you can and do a different build every time

Spaced clapton decores are used for the snakespine build I recently found out, unlike some sort of alien wrap that I thought it was haha

i thought something similar, but with 3 triangled cores (was thinking of a way to get a larger decore)...also considered trying spaced clapton decore once too, but never got around to seeing what it would do...

So has anyone tried it? I figure someone has and it went pffft nothing good, so that's why I havent heard of it...still might try it Monday anyway, for science! Got 950ft left anyway! Lol

My brain says it should make even more waves, like a zigzag...I was thinking of decoring 2x30 and trying it on 6x 30, but what if the math changes completely if you have a rectangle decore

is that spaced? i thought they just used a decore that was a couple gauges larger than the final frames? thats another build i have been wanting to try forever...

yeah i have never heard of anyone trying it. your thesis on it makes sense to me, but i can also imagine it just not working because of fucking math (shakes fist at math). i eagerly await your report

From the video I watched the other day it looks like you spaced clapton on a larger core wire, then pull the core out and replace with a smaller size, fold in half, then fuse like a staggered Clapton. One fused it's hammered flat if you want hammered look or just roll back the decores that will be sticking out with a set of ceramic tweezers or nylon pliers so they edges point backwards. Want to try one myself but I don't have a clean enough and heavy enough surface to do the hammering portion of the build.

makes sense to space it first now that you mention it. trying to slip between the decore with the final fuse wouldnt be any fun without spaces.

i have been with the oracles again today, but this time it was to leave a tribute to the gods so that they may see fit to deliver the clamps to @KarmicRage and @KingPin! (and the rest of the people waiting) by monday morning. the oracles agreed with my logic, in that the gods would receive more sacrifice, if the builders had better tools...but the gods are often flippant and fickle, so i also threw a virgin goat off a cliff

B/W shot is 4*28g KA1 38g N80 duals out around .18-.20 the Alien is 3*26g N80 x 32g N80 around the same resistance, .2-.21 or so.

not much of a photographer (or builder as it were lol) that's actually the first 3 core Alien I've made successfully. Tried 3 or 4 times before, cores twisted. Made a handful of 2 core's though. Decided to give 3 another go tonight.

Alien wanna see if my alien makers work better now I don’t have to twist the swivel end

I’m tempted to wait until i can use that revolver as well although I’m running seriously low of coils at the moment spent my last building day faffing about with a build that failed

im sure the alien makers will work better with the swivel clamp holding the cores perfectly flat. just make sure to center your wire in the clamps, and center your chuck and swivel setup so its not offset...and dont wait to use it with the revolver, its too good to let sit idle, especially when you need new coils

Your very first 3 core goes on like that? @william.osendott  You are destined for good things
I got lucky for sure lol I found a tiny little keyring that seems to make all the difference. Made multicore fused a breeze as well. I'd hate to know how much wire I've wasted in the last couple months on multi-core fused claptons that ended in failure, but for some reason, everything clicked last night. Knocked out a 4*28g fused and the 3*26 fused so figured I'd give 3*Alien a go while I was on a roll and sure enough :)

Check out nick devine YouTube.. he got a good video of him doing the snake spine. Pretty sure he just used an old mech and rolled out the wire rather then hitting with a hammer.. also his method for bending the “scales” at the end is a good idea. Much better then bending each one with tweezers or whatever some of these other guys are doing
