Hi there! Worried about DIY Flavor vendors

Hi so I am starting my Diy vape juice project to safe money, I am still doing research as to what is safe and found that non- water soluble (able to be dissolved) Flavors are hazardous to vape, (such as popcorn lung) like oil based, and some vendors re-label other company products and even a well known one that i hear many vapers use is lorAnn and they are selling some oil based flavorings I was going to buy from DIY Vapor supply and now I'm not sure I want to buy the flavorings from them because of the lack of information on the products and because they sell from vendors like LorAnn I hope the word gets out because you could be buying vape juice right off the shelf from someone who does not do their research so I hope to see maybe a list of safe diy vape vendors.

thanks to anyone who took the time to read this <3

Bull City flavors is a good vendor.

And some LorAnn flavorings are ok to use. Some.

Note that NO flavorings are officially approved for use in vaping in the USA.
And are not advertised by the manufacturers for use in vaping.
At least none of the major flavoring manufacturers.
Capella, Flavor Art, The Flavorers Apprentice, etc.

However in the EU FA does make ejuice.

So far vaping has been show to be FAR safer than smoking but not totally safe.
I use it as a safer substitute to smoking but I do not encourage non smokers to take up vaping.
Not telling them not to, just that I personally will not encourage them to.
I will encourage smokers to switch to vaping.

I understand that but, the fact is there are safer alternatives and some substances that have proven to be harmful but there is not enough regulation being done, I just hope the word gets out and that there is more information being posted on the vendors sites such as a warnings about oil based flavorings and more updates as more information is obtained because I vape like a train and I plan on giving diy juice as a present to loved ones so I will not put known harmful additives in my juices I just don't like vendors disregarding the risks and not even posting information to there consumers

BCV on their site have symbols and listings of the flavorings that are questionable due to Diacetyl, etc.

I think that if you go to Capellas site they have information on their flavorings, so does FA and TFA I do believe.

Thank you for all the wonderful information I will try those vendors and hope other vendors take a page out of their book

Bull City Flavors is my go-to online store. They list any suposedly nasties in the ingredients, but I buy the ones with diktones anyway, much more flavorful.
Yep CAP VC V1, tasty stuff :)
Still getting vastly far less bad stuff than smoking.

Hi welcome.
Virtually all sellers differentiate clearly between versions.
This is certainly true of Bull City Vapor.
There's nothing to worry about.

Why don't you drop by the DIY sub-forum. That's where the most knowledgeable
people on this topic are. You'll get good info there... also, punctuation is good... ;)

As responsible DIYers, it's our job to do our own research on flavorings for the most part. After all, hardly any of the flavorings we're using are intended for anything except food and beverage. More and more of our vendors are providing MSDS sheets and all pertinent info, but we as consumers are liable for the information that pertains to our purpose of the products. Lorann's is a pretty simple line to define as far as vaping safety. Their oil based flavorings read as such on the labels, i.e. almond oil, orange oil, etc. If in doubt, this is a good link to have onhand:
http://bestvaporflavors.com/best-lorann-oils-vaping/
https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/a...-vaping-–-color-coded-spreadsheet-pdf.687895/ (<<< In case you have difficulty with the first link)

FlavourArt has done the most extensive research of any flavor manufacturer with ClearStream Onward. Not only do they offer a line of products specifically for vaping, but they also offer information on other flavors in their line that are not suitable for vaping and distinguish them as such.

Nicotine River provides SDS sheets on virtually all of their flavorings, Bull City Flavors marks the majority of potentially risky products, as well as a handful of others. We can always go directly to the flavor manufacturer websites and look up any information on their products. But as convenient as it is to have all the info we need from individual flavor vendors, it is ultimately our responsibility as consumers to know the composition of the flavorings before we use them. DIY is the best route to go that actually permits us to know what we're vaping because no juice vendors out there are going to disclose what flavorings they use or who manufactures their PG, VG, and nicotine. Vendor juice is a crap shoot.

Bull City Rocks as far as ordering, as does NicRiver, but I will have to agree that researching yourself should also be included. LorAnne has some great flavor too, you just need to know which to avoid, but really you need to know this for most brands.

As far as "safe" we really don't know what is safe to vape for sure and wont know until many years from now when studies have been done. We all assume we what we are doing is safer than smoking (myself included) My pulmonary doctor couldn't tell me a thing either, and only said the same as many others in the heath field.. we will know years from now when sufficient studies have been looked at.

What we can do is avoid what we know "IS" not safe.. ie: oil based, diketones etc. ELR has a good calculator that has these flavors marked as dangerous, but again thats relying on others, when i prefer to learn for myself - sp that's what I'd recommend

Good luck and welcome to the world of DIY!!

Incorrect as Liquid Barn is one that advertises the products to be used to make e-Liquid for vaping as do many others.

With absolutely no FDA or any other approval. or comprehensive studies... do you really put your faith in LB?? I sure as hell do NOT. We all vape at our own risk. LB may have made flavors without the know diketines etc.. but they can hardly declare them as safe for vaping.. We vape flavor that are safe to ingest not heat and inhale

extra butter please and thank you :)
and no reason for the uh oh haha.. I think we all just trying to state the facts. I believe vaping is safer than smoking, which is my hopes, but we wont know for sure for years most likely.

Yes I do more than companies that sell products with oils and are not marketed for vaping.

Just to be clear, I use LB regularly for flvors I like. The point was that we dont know whats safe and what isnt from a vaping stand point. We only know what harmed factory workers who breathed certain chemicals that are contained in the concentrates we used that were created for food. While eliminating these chemicals makes that issue safer, we still dont know what the formula does to vapors who intentional breath/inhales this.

I certainly was not knocking LB or any other company. ALl i said was we will not know the effects of what we are doing to ourselves for many many years.

Anyone can advertise and target certain segments of the population.. but sure as hell dont make it safe to use. No one knows yet the effects, and that was my point

Have a great day!

You really need to research what you are saying because first off if there is any Diacetyl in e-Liquid flavors the amount is so minuscule many will still use it and vape it without a concern. In reference to those factory workers you are talking about the exposure level for them was greater than any e-Liwuid flavoring. Do your research because you need to gain some better information.

Right .. dont be concerned because others arent?? this I wont even respond to.

Last comment and I will move on from this thread because its going nowhere.

Vaping is too knew to know what effects it will have on any of use. It takes years and years to learn this through studies and issues people experience. If you think its all safe, that you are the one who needs to think.. forget research because there isnt enough there... a fact LMAO

Do not be so gullible to believe its safe because its marketed that way. I said early on EVEN though the harmful chemicals we know are an issue to breath were removed.. we still do not know what effects we will endure since theres no LONG TERM studies or conseqences to prove anything yet. THere will be one day.. just like the ones that were required for us to know that the removed ingredients that were harmul and affected people negatively. Its simple fact. There's nothing to debate, so Im not sure why you are insisting vaping is so safe when no one really knows this.

Does this mean I will stop? Nope it doesnt. Smoking made my breathing difficult, vaping doesnt. I already have cancer and with breathing issues I choose vaping for now, assuming it had to be better than smoking

I listen to all with an opened mind, but you already know this is totally safe so it's already a mute point. Ill let my pulminist know he will be glad to hear this :)
Have a great day

I think you are too new to vaping and I doubt you have even read an FDS for the Liquid Barn flavors you use. Do you know there is one for each of the flavors they sell?

you assume a lot for not knowing someone. Been vaping a year. Anything new takes time to study.. its a fact period. I read everything I could get my hands on... have you? Actually doesnt matter this is not worth continuing, Ill agree to disagree and move on

Actually you assume a lot and are all knowing lol. I am the one who vapes and more understands the POSSIBILITY of there being risks and am not nieve enough to believe it to be totally safe...as stated multiple times already...

an example of your all false knowing info as quoted below....

I actually researched a hell of a lot more than you.. how miniscule is the below flavors? lol I'm not going to research for you.. but these examples happen to be what i was exploring ..

flavorah

flavor / Natural Diacetyl (ppm) / Acetyl Propionyl (ppm) / Acetoin (ppm)
coconut / 182 / ND / 2800

Choc Duetsche / 87 / ND / 2255

cupcake batter / 102 / ND / 959

I actually researched

Yeah took you 11 days to find the worst of them all but originally we were talking about Liquid Barn flavorings and none of them contain these chemicals. So freaking worried? Do us all a favor give up vaping and stop spreading misinformation.

So.. research all manufactures, instead of vendors. (big difference)
Buy direct from manufacturer you approve of.. They will let you know what "unsafe" compounds are in their flavors.
You might have to search each site.. but no one is withholding info, and no one can prove within a shadow of a doubt yet..
flavoring is safe for inhalation. I know of 2 companies atm making good strides and they both will continue on.
If and when they release that info, it's up to them and the abc organizations they have to answer to.

Good luck!

City water is full of harmful chemicals known to kill people (and has killed many). Sitting in traffic with your window down will expose you to harmful toxins, known to cause cancer and advanced aging. Pretty much everything will kill you under the right circumstances.

Whatever trace elements (if there are any) in any particular flavor or ejuice is going to be in far less concentrations than things that actually will kill you that no one bats an eyelash at.

There are more harmful chemicals I am afraid of in body lotion, laundry detergent, kitchen cleaners, toothpaste and shampoo than anything vape related (unknown gas station ejuice excluded). I know this sounds kind of kooky but if you look up each ingredient in any of these items you will find no short list of them that can/will cause cancer, birth defects, or shorten your life.

To be fair here, I use concentrates that are food safe with no diactyl or water and I haven't had any problems, and I mix them with usually a pre mixed PG/VG from a reputable supplier.

I remember asking my doctor about vaping a few years ago. He said this :-
"Is vaping safe? We don' know yet. Not for sure, but let me put it to you like this, smoking WILL give you cancer, vaping 'might, possibly perhaps' give you cancer, make up your own mind which is better for you"

The knowledge base on here and in the community is quite broad and friendly for the most part so in answer to the OP I say, ask around and make up your own mind. There is a lot of choice these days. Hope this helps
