Hello fellow vapers,

I am using mechs for a while now, but im scared i draw my battery's to low so i check them all the time... its so time consuming to put them in my charger everytime to check....

Does anyone have like a little volt meter especially for this battery's to quickly check the voltage ?!

Im currently using:
Dead Rabbit RDA
Staple 0.12 ohm coil build
S-Rabbit Sqounk MECH

I think this is a quite battery consuming build so i dont want it to be dangerous... i dont know if i mention the difference if i go to low, i always recharge at 3.9v or even higher to be sure :p

I'm fairly new to mechs. I've never heard of, or seen, a device like you describe. I'm finding that the batteries getting low is like when my rda is getting dry. That is, I can tell before it becomes an issue. I don't measure voltage per-se. At first I was looking at the approx voltage when I put a set on the charger. After doing this for a little while I've become aware of what low voltage vapes like.

Why not just change it out early instead of taking it out and reinstalling the battery? It's not bad for the batteries to go on the charger early. I bet you'll start to feel when it's time. :)

yeah you will learn to feel it a bit, but its possible to have builds hot enough that they still feel ok on dead batteries (until you get a feel for it). they make inline volt meters you can plug into your mod, and some ohm meters have a male 510 on them that you can screw a tube onto and fire it to get a voltage read. the one i got in the coilmaster kit is situated poorly though, so it can only do tubes (the on/off switch is in the way of something like a noisy cricket screwing fully on to it).

I can relate, I've been vaping series mechs for a long time and sometimes it's still tricky to gauge when my batteries are about dead. I can still easily tell when they're getting low on my tube mods at 0.14, but I suppose it depends on things like the mass of the build too. A low mass build would still ramp pretty quick at lower voltages, making it a bit harder to tell.

The inline volt meter or an ohm meter with a voltage checker might be easier, depending on how annoying taking the batteries out of his mod is vs. the effort taken to use the inline or ohm meter. Personally, I just pop them on my charger to check (Nitecore D2) if I'm unsure whether or not it's time to swap, because all of my mods, it would be slower or about the same to take off my atty and screw in an inline/ohm reader volt checker.

@KingOfClouds The standard way to check would be to just use a multimeter.

This is a totally viable option too, if I pop them on my charger to check, half the time I just grab a new set anyway. :D

FWIW your build is too low to be safe. regardless of the charge state of your battery.. 18650 batteries should be kept to .2ohms or higher. .25ohm would be better. at .12ohms your pulling 35 amps at full 4.2v charge and 29 at 3.5v. there are no 18650 batteries "safe" for that much amp draw.

Since your using a mech you should already have a VOM. use that to test volts.. or get a inline meter. Omnly tank a few batteries to learn how go feel a weak battery. Building a bit higher will also give better battery performance.

Im sure 0.12 isnt TOO LOW, If u are just carefull and know what you are doing haha
Ive got my nitecore charger to check already but i would like to know if there was a quicker way

Thanks ! This really helps me :)

Probably not, but just make sure you really know what's going on, and are aware that the risks are higher. If they're getting warm, give them a break to cool off. I'd use 30a cells, or at least VTC5a's. 20A cells would heat up pretty quickly at 0.12. An accurate ohm meter or DNA mod would be a good investment that low as well, my normal reg. mods and random ohm meters are always reading .1-.3 off of what my USA Ohm Meter reads when I'm going down that low.

Going over the CDR is going to shorten the life of the cells a lot faster as well. A dual battery parallel mech box might be a good choice for you, if you like to vape that low all the time.

Being new to mechs, not knowing my battery life is actually the worst part to me. Out of site out of mind for me I guess. So this thread made me think about a safety question: If I were running at ~.3 ohms with an LG HG2, does that mean I can run the battery dead without ever worrying about overdrawing it? I wouldn't ever do it intentionally, and I can tell when it's starting to get low, but there are times I may not be paying attention.

No, running below 3V is very dangerous. You should not run under around 3.5V but it gets very dangerous under 3V, so much so if you do you need to recycle the battery and never use it.

You really need to watch and learn from Mooch's videos.

I just used to pop the batteries out of my tube mechs and shove them into an old single battery regulated mod I have (a Vaporflask lite) set to bypass mode, to see where the battery is at, voltage wise.
