I can see why you've fallen in love with helix staples. Those look fantastic. I tried doing helix staples, but I think I bought too small a gauge for my ribbon to do them effectively. I bought 0.3x0.1mm ribbon. I think I might try making ribbon claptons with it tho, so it's not a total loss. The wire looks small enough to be used for the wrapping. We'll see.

Thank you man! There is some serious words right there i think anthonys fraliens are still much more tighter for sure. But really shred that means a lot to me :)i'm such self critic to myself i'm sort of a huge perfectionist in all the thinks im intersting in or like to do so i always see something wrong and wants to do better everytime :D

Honestly you've got talent man that's what it comes down to, you're a talented person. I'd definitely suggest making an instagram to help market your coils if you don't already have one and I would try some experimental show off builds, you know coil porn, just to catch people's eyes and direct them to your brand. All your coils are functional which is great, coils were meant to be vaped. But every now and again it's good for a guy (or gal) on your level to do something just for the sake of art and color it up to get that wow factor across. I personally have tried to do just that on several occasions and have failed every time. Every build I've ever try to coil with corrugated wire has failed. But I'm still learning. I guess we are all learning from each other in some way or another.

I find twisting two pieces of 26g together can do a good job for the frames on a stapled helix. I posted one a while ago with 26g twisted frames. You can do 28 too but I wouldn't personally go much higher than that. I think the problem most people have when it comes to twisting is they don't quite twist the wire enough. I like to twist it until it breaks to be honest. That gives me really good grooves to fuse in. Wrapping a stapled helix is always going to be a little more challenging that just a regular framed staple because those two twisted wires are springy but if you go slow, be patient, and apply pressure right above where the wire meets the jig or screwdriver you're using I feel you have a pretty good chance at a clean wrap.:stars:

That's what I'm using - 26awg SS317. The helixing isn't the hard part for me, it's just holding the 2 frames in the drill that's the problem for me... that and I think I bought too small a gauge for my ribbon. I have to kinda play MacGuyver right now due to being low on funds atm. My car broke down on me in the middle of the freeway yesterday. :(

EDIT: Sorry I meant SS316 not 317 LOL!

Okay im ordering some more wire asap! I need badly smaller core wires out of 28 and 30 and low on 26. Just did helix staples and damn i fell in love with this such a amazing coil to make. Now i need to get smaller cores... 26 twisted cores just wayyyyy to bulky

The one I posted a few pages back was 32g / 8ply .3×.1 / 40g (all Ni80).

Awesome coil! What I like even more is your style of photography. Everything you photograph looks cool haha.
hahaha thanks man, I appreciate it! my "style" is a $5 3-in-one clip on macro lens from amazon and an s8+ held at a distance it'll focus lol been considering learning some photography principles and such though. not just for shooting coils, but in general.

Sick Mohawks man. I can tell Mohawk variations are a big part of your wheelhouse. You're advice on how to get them done really helped me too. I haven't done many but I'm thinking about trying to do some more after I figure out this simple hybrid build I'm working towards. Great work!
shred one day you'll have to try and explain hybrids to me lol I watched umm ohmboy Josh's (I believe) video a while back, didn't make much sense.. that's one build I've been dying to try, even if it's a "simple" version.

:giggle: Three yards away from the drill. I am 6'2" do you think I could reach the drill at three yards away? I dunno I need to get more familiar with a yard as a measurement. I think a yard is three feet, or something. So that would be nine feet away, I think. I actually specifically remember Squidoode saying to hold your spool nine feet away while claptoning a ribbon stack in his Youtube series, The Art of Vaping, so yes that makes sense.:vino:
1yd = 3ft = approx. 1m :) (you're European right? )

you shouldn't give up on the .3, it's my preferred size for framed/staggered/helix staples though you may find .4 or .5 easier to work with.

i just wanna say happy birthday to these coils. they just keep working great, so i never replaced them. i have probably had coils at this point that are a year old, sitting in atomizers i barely use, but these were daily bangers for most of the last year. happy birthday :confetti:

My teeth get grey from ash if I let coils get black like that  a year though, that is awesome man. What metal/gauges please?

the coils in this tank get way worse than that before i can tell theres anything wrong lol. they are 4mm 5.5 wrap 3x28ka1/36n80 at .28 ohms. its kbee wire from the 'good' batch i got that was clean and straight and shiny and its holding up like a champ in a pretty high stress vaping situation (over 200w on unregulated para-series).

My first gatorbacks. Had enough wrap wire to just barey get two coils. One is 3mm, the other 2.5. I’ll run them dual 2.5mm if the ohms are high enough, otherwise I’ll leave them how they are and run em single.
1x26,2x28,36, all n80, not ohmed yet.

I accidentally made something that looked similar when my daedalus sliders would stop moving and the wrap wire would stack up a bit before I moved them up myself rinse and repeat. as for a video of this build, I've heard several mentions of the build, but never seen a video, but if you find one could you kindly lmk?? or if anyone could just give a brief description. 2x28 and a 26, twisted then claptoned or? or perhaps they twist at the point of the slider? thinking that maybe been what happened back in the day with the daedalus.

Really nice! I've yet to actually attempt these. I know its a build that was born out of Chef's collaboration with someone else. They are cool looking coils.

I couldn’t find much about this build and I haven’t seen any videos. I’m pretty sure I did it right hehe.
It’s one straight 26 and two twisted 28s run straight parallel and then claptoned.
I did twist the wire opposite direction of the Clapton so that the wrap wouldn’t just slide down the twisted wire but stay tightly spaced.

Going to try again right now, I need a bigger decore for the first stagger

Screenshot_20180426-085106~2-789x790.png

Or an extra 2 strands of ribbon, because I just used the same exact decore gauge by accident, but it's so cleanly spaced I'm just going to sacrifice some swooshiness and hope it just works

The original plan was an 18 ply single coil anyway!

Next try:
IMG_20180426_103030~2.jpg

This is hard

Try 3, they're getting worse
IMG_20180426_114611~2.jpg

What the cock is that shit

Was doing it all wrong...final ribbon stack size needs to be just 2/3rds wider than first stack, I was going more like double width:gaah:

So next time...12 ply inside, then 8 ply outside for 20 ply total

The Gatortails I do are usually a single 24g wire next to a twisted pair of 28g wires, with either 40g or 42g binding.
